This is the list that I am looking into running. I am wanting to make it a mono white token deck but with a slight splash. I have chosen black because of Sorin, Lord of Innistrad and Lingering Souls, plus Vault of the Archangel isn't bad either.
Rally the peasants it´s just a bomb if the opponent doesn´t block your five 1/1 token attack.
SB: Surgical Extraction and Revoke existence work well together against mirror matchs, Celestial purges cleans RDW and some titan/wolf run, Stony silence against Tempered Steel and RG aggro with swords, and Purify the grave works well in Reanimator/frites/unburial decks (just wait until he wants to recover the titan or something else and remove it form the graveyard)
is anyone getting good results with rally the peasants as the reason for splashing red??? I want to try it, but I feel like its not enoughg to splash red for
For those of you that were following my threads before I was suspended and this one was created, here is my current deck list and some brief explanations on my choices-
Explanations- Champion of the Parish- Sucks unless played turns 1-3. Forces the deck into an aggro heavy strategy. I just dont like it. Forces you to overcommit only to see a quick tragic slip or vapor snag.
Despise- Still my favorite spell in the deck. It picks out the annoying Mirran Crusader and Geist of Saint Traft in our tough match-ups, reveals opponents plans, and disrupts possible combos. Invaluable, imo.
Sorin, Lord of Innistrad- Flavor-wise, I love everything about this card. It is my favorite card in the set. Unfortunately, it is too slow and a win-more card for this deck. At 4cmc, there are too many other superior choices. His half anthem effect is lackluster, despite it being permanent. We have trouble surviving Whipflare and Slagstorm as it is, arguably needing the +1 to toughness more than power.
Blade Splicer- Debatable pick over Midnight Haunting IF you run CotP, if you dont then Midnight Haunting is far superior. Instant speed, and recieves buffs from both my anthems, not having to split them between two targets. Primary argument is the token's ability to stop sword carriers. I pack 3 MB O-rings and have 3 Stony Silence in SB, swords arent a problem for my list.
My God. Shane is free from purgatory! Run for the hills!
I still think your list is pretty much the best B/W token deck you can run at the moment, but I am curious as to why you're running Doom Blade instead of Go for the Throat. With Zombies being a real deck now, being able to hit black creatures seems to be more important than hitting artifact creatures.

Sorry for not posting sooner. I've been slowly developing this deck over the last few weeks. It started as a JunkWalker list and has slowly morphed into its current state over the course of 2 weeks of testing and tournaments. I played the list in the quote above at last week's FNM and went 3-1 finishing 5th place. Here's a quick rundown from what I remember:
R1 vs Esper Spirits (0-2)
We have a long game 1 in which i was pretty much land flooded (i think i had about 12 sources or so in play by the end of the game) and made what few spells I did draw stretch as far as I could. Game 2 I have to mull to 5 and keep a hand consisting of 2 lands, slip, day, day. I draw a 3rd land and a pristine talisman but I never get WW and end up dying with 3 days and gideon in hand. I was a little disheartened by this poor start, but I trekked onward.
R2 vs Mono Red (2-0)
Two very quick games. Game 1 my opponent gets stuck on 2 lands and has a hand full of chandra phoenix and other 3-4 cost spells. Game 2 I get down to 1 life and then swing back with norn + 2 spirits with vault activated to gain 10. That pretty much seals that game.
R3 vs RWB Walkers homebrew (2-0)
This is vs a friend of mine who made a sweet RWB walker deck that is similar to my list but uses faithless looting to dig and Chandra to double cast lingering souls (it's pretty nasty). Both games I manage to land early walkers to put pressure on him and he's never able to stabalize. Curse of Death's Hold in the main really helped G1. Post board I have a lot of hate for him. Grave Titan was really good in this match.
R4 vs GR Aggro (2-0)
First game was very swingy. He plays a bird and sword and I slip the bird. He plays huntmaster and I counter with liliana sac then slip the huntmaster. He plays another huntmaster and I day. He plays hellrider equip and swing to deal me some damage. I am able to make him sac the hellrider and have a few spirits on the board. He gets another bird out and equips him but I have about 6 spirits on the board and drop elspeth to start out gaining his damage. With Elspeth + Gideon + Liliana on board he scoops.
Game 2 he keeps a hand with a lot of dorks and plays bird, bird, huntmaster. I respond with day. He drops a bird and a sword and i respond with revoke on sword. He's top-decking at that point and I land a grave titan, he scoops.
All-in-all I was very happy with the performance of the list. I realized that I was a little weak vs the spirits deck and decided to add in a couple copies of Corrosive Gale to shore up that weakness a bit. Also wanted to try trimming back some of the walkers in favor of some more creatures to help shore up the weakness to SoWaP. Here is where my list is currently sitting:
One thing you may notice is that I do not run any anthems in the deck. I've thought about trying Intangible Virtue and may test it still, but I just don't like having the potential for dead draws where I get an anthem and then have no tokens. So far I've never really had a need for the anthems in general. HotP is even less appealing to me because I run a variety of creatures and not just white based creatures/tokens.
Here are some notes based on my experiences with the list so far:
Pristine Talisman has been an AWESOME card. In fact, it is really what let me live so long against the spirit deck in the first game despite being land flooded. Like I said, I think I only drew/played 7 spells the entire game and somewhere between 12-15 lands. I'm really happy with talisman, it ramps me into my grave titans, walkers, norn etc and keeps me alive long enough to hit a day or clog the board.
Liliana of the Veil is good, but I was constantly siding her out. I think I sided her out in every match up. That being said, she did help me in a lot of g1's so I don't want to cut her entirely. I moved her down to a 2of for now and will continue to evaluate her as I develop the list further.
Tragic Slip has been a great removal spell. It kills t1 delvers/mana dorks, kills inkmoths, and can also deal with the bigger guys later on the game. I've really liked this card a lot and don't think I'll be removing any number of them anytime soon.
Elspeth Tirel was useful when I played her, but I don't think she is a 2of against many archetypes. I decided to move a copy of her to the sideboard.
Gideon Jura was great in every match up. Combined with vault of the archangel he can create set up some very good trades for me. He also plays bodyguard for my other walkers making sure the opponent has to deal with him before they can get to them.
Grave Titan is very good right now. Every time I dropped him on the table it forced my opponent to have to go on the defensive. As I mentioned before, having the talismans to ramp up a bit helped power him out a couple times on turn 5.
Sorin, Lord of Innistrad is one I'm not sure where I stand on. Sometimes he is just bananas. Other times he is mediocre at best. I like situations where I have a few guys on board and my opponent attacks and doesn't leave blockers because they think that I'm only gonna swing for 4 the following turn only to have me drop a sorin and swing for 8 instead. I am adding in Bloodline Keeper to see if they combo well together and hopefully it will increase sorin's value in the deck.
Curse of Death's Hold as a 1of main and 1of side has been really good to me. I want at least 2 in the 75 and having 1 main helps me vs Inkmoths or other token decks.
Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite is probably the best creature in standard right now. If you CAN play her, you probably should play her. That being said, I feel my mana base + the talismans support hard casting her. I wouldn't want to run more than 1 though.
Lingering Souls is just ridiculous in this meta. It does so many good things. Although it is weak to WaP, I don't feel like I'm overly committed to the white tokens to make this a problem.
I am adding Blade Splicer to the deck to give me some more creatures and a decent way to deal with strangleroots, messengers, sword of war and peace, etc etc. Splicer seems really well positioned right now so I'm gonna see how well he works for me.
As I mentioned, I'm also adding Bloodline Keeper as a 2of. He seems to have some synergy with Sorin (both making vamps), can also block WaP as well as make flying tokens that can block WaP. He also provides inevitability. I like that I can play him and sit back and force my opponent to answer him or else just lose the game.
I think I need to play with the mana base a little. Possibly go down to 9 swamp and up to 7 plains. I will just have to see how the changes I've made to the list effect the ratios.
As always, I welcome feedback and suggestions and would love to hear what you guys think. Thanks for your time!
My sideboard is mainly going to be Purify the Grave or Spellbombs and Celestial Purge, but i have a hard time dealing with Wolfruns, but thank god the deck type is dying in where i'm playing.
My sideboard is mainly going to be Purify the Grave or Spellbombs and Celestial Purge, but i have a hard time dealing with Wolfruns, but thank god the deck type is dying in where i'm playing.
I think this deck badly needs sorin, and is where he is most at home, over curse of stalked prey. How bout curse of exhaustion to limit the defnding player?
I have made my deck to try and be aggressive by just swamping the field (not over extending for sweepers of coarse) with some decent bodied creatures. So far it has been very successful in doing just that.
I am thinking to move Oblivion Ring to the side board and replace it with Go for the Throat because it is instant speed and cheaper on the mana.
I also wouldn't mind tryin to fit Blade Splicer in because of how helpful it can be blocking pro white baddies. Also since Champion of the Parish has been such a power house for me, another dude pumping him would be awesome.
Hero of Bladehold (for me) is kinda hit and miss. If she doesn't get dealt with she can and most likely will end the game, but most of the time she gets dealt with so I spend a 4 mana investment on nothing. I wouldn't completely cut her out, probably cut her to a 2-of.
Sorin (again, for me) has actually been pretty good. He either helps stall my opponent or makes an anthem so I can alpha strike for game (or both). I think for now he is staying as a 3-of.
The only hard time I really have beating anyone is a turn 4 Primeval Titan or Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite hitting the table. Delver has been a breeze so far because I can swarm them pretty easy. Humans is a ok match up. Sideing in Day of Judgement helps a bit. Thalia is a alittle annoying. Zombies is also an ok match up but it is not great though. I just race um with vault and fly over their threats.
Well feedback is appreciated.

Take your breath away
Millions of our years

I like the idea of going red with the tokens and I think Curse of Stalked prey is fantastic for this build. I have one major recommendation for this deck (as I tend to recommend for any token deck) run Day of Judgement. The best part about playing tokens is the fact that they are cheap and they come back even harder late game with at least one anthem in play. Wiping out your opponent's field and then dropping two tokens is a major set back for them. You are plopping tokens here and there (whether from your gy or top decks) and they sit there struggling to top deck a response or a blocker.
I have been running a typical WB token build that I have tied for first with the past few weeks at FNM
I was playing Elspeth at one time, but I found her to be dead weight. SB I mainly have Surgical Extraction and Revoke Existence. Frites tends to be my biggest weakness. As soon Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite hits the field, the game turns quickly into "oh ****!" mode. So I have the extractions to handle frites and the revoke existences to handle Shrines in RDW and O-rings on my anthems or Sorin.
More recently I've been experimenting with a Wbu build (which I will officially play tonight).
More often than not, with my WB build I tended to be mana screwed and typically held my black removal in my hand until a moment where I became overwhelmed.
I splash Wbu now to get the card draw to fix my mana base and get into my anthems sooner. Geist of Saint Traft is a fun addition to the build as a response to Ratchet Bomb (and other removal for overwhelming tokens). I either play the geist after I DoJ on my own, or in a response to an opponents wipe. He ends up being lethal once I get enough anthems in play. Finally, I have added Snapcaster in just because you never know when another DoJ, Timely, or Midnight Haunting will come in handy.
Friday - 5 rounds
Frites 2-1 Wurmcoils & Infernos were the main issues
WRG 2-0 Could not tell Both games they mulligan
RDW 2-0 Rough games Elspeth & Surgical helped out.
Zombies 2-1 Vaults & Timely won the games
The deck ran fairly well
without Sorins, I decided to run Elspeth over Sorin. Both plainswalkers would be a target and i thought Elspeth would give me some Life or 3 tokens instead of 1 with the Sorin. Still not sure if Sorin will help out more than Elspeth or even Gildeon.
I've not had a huge problem with it and in all honesty I"m just wondering what kind of changes I can make to help it run just a bit better.
I've thought of these things already.
Removing Tragic slip for a mixture of Go for the throat and doom blade.
I"ve already removed the Skirsdag High priest. (I loved how he would blast ou ta 5/5 demon every tmie something died but........it just didn't happen often enough.
By theory, the Slip effect i better then other standard's, but do you get the morbid all the time? Or you have to sit down wainting to a casual creature combat?
I say this because I only run 1 copy of it MD and I don't get the morbid ability all the time, in fact, I run 2 Mortarpod.

I usually don't have a hard time activating it. I mean here are the major decks I have to face.
Zombies- Its cool. they kill themselves.
U/W Humans- hard match up but they attack often giving me plenty of time to chump. They also chump with their own tokens if they have any.
Wolfrun- Only time I ever wish I had switched ti with something else. But even then if I switched out Dismember it won't die. But I do use it to kill their Inkmoth a lot so that activates morbid if I happen to have two in hand. Also I usually just exile their titan.
RDW- Not a hard matchup as it is. Most of their guys are tiny so I don't need the morbid to activate it. and even then usually all i have to do is chump or wait for them to burn one or more of my tokens.
Mono G or G/x Aggro- They ALWAYS attack. So chump is my friend.
U/W Delver/ or other control- Kills delvers w/o morbid.
Esper Spirits- They tend to chump as much as we do sometimes. Though the damn hexproof really doesn't make a bit of differnece if I activate morbid or not. so they are usually sided out.
Did I miss any?

3 Sorin, Lord on Innistrad
4 Honor of the Pure
4 Intangible Virtue
4 Lingering Souls
4 Gather the Townsfolk
3 Timely Reinforcements
3 Day of Judgement
2 Go for the Throat
4 Tragic Slip
2 Alter's Reap
4 Isolated Chapel
3 Vault of the Archangel
3 Evolving Wilds
9 Plains
5 Swamp
I was playing Elspeth at one time, but I found her to be dead weight. SB I mainly have Surgical Extraction and Revoke Existence. Frites tends to be my biggest weakness. As soon Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite hits the field, the game turns quickly into "oh ****!" mode. So I have the extractions to handle frites and the revoke existences to handle Shrines in RDW and O-rings on my anthems or Sorin.
More recently I've been experimenting with a Wbu build (which I will officially play tonight).
2 Geist of Saint Traft
2 Snapcaster Mage
2 Sorin, Lord of Innistrad
4 Honor of the Pure
4 Intangible Virtue
3 Ponder
3 Timely Reinforcements
4 Gather the Townsfolk
4 Lingering Souls
2 Day of Judgement
3 Midnight Haunting
4 Isolated Chapel
3 Glacial Fortress
3 Drowned Catacomb
2 Evolving Wilds
7 Plains
4 Island
1 Swamp
More often than not, with my WB build I tended to be mana screwed and typically held my black removal in my hand until a moment where I became overwhelmed.
I splash Wbu now to get the card draw to fix my mana base and get into my anthems sooner. Geist of Saint Traft is a fun addition to the build as a response to Ratchet Bomb (and other removal for overwhelming tokens). I either play the geist after I DoJ on my own, or in a response to an opponents wipe. He ends up being lethal once I get enough anthems in play. Finally, I have added Snapcaster in just because you never know when another DoJ, Timely, or Midnight Haunting will come in handy.

without Sorins, I decided to run Elspeth over Sorin.
