All of those are too slow for how fast we want to win.

You could call Construct or u could go a heavier Myr build and call Myr..I mean Hover Myr, Myr Smith, Myr Galvanizer..seems good to me..with steel overseer and ornithopter rotating out..u could use Adaptive Automaton with the myrs to replace
There are so few constructs already though.

I'm not sure how well this deck would work, but if the basic idea is to hit quickly, why not try making the race from 10 to 0 instead of 20 to 0. I could also be completely wrong, but I figured I'd see if anyone else had thought of something like this.
ender- infect seems like it would slow this deck down..i prefer the mono w build..its fast and to the point. splashing colors only slows the deck down and takes away spots in this deck. i could maybe see splashing blue for draw or maybe counters using dual lands..
I want to play my tempered steel deck in a PTQ this weekend, i was wondering if yall could help me or give ideas to make my deck better! I especially need help with the side board.
Creatures (22)
2x Hero of Bladehold
4x Signal Pest
2x Etched Champion
3x Vault Skirge
4x Memnite
4x Porcelain Legionnaire
3x Ornithopter
Sideboard
2x Hero of Bladehold
4x Revoke Existence
2x Dismember
1x Ornithopter
The inkmoth nexus' are back up plans in case of sweeps or anything so i can hopefully infect my opponent before i lose. The Hero of Bladehold are also a back up plan. Gideon Jura is in there to force my opponent to tap out swinging at gideon then i will swing in for the kill. I mainly need help with the sideboard.

Ok here goes:
1) Gideon Jura. Great card. Not for how fast we want this deck to go. Sorry, and i have tried it so im saying its too slow out of experience.
2)your sideboard...try
2 Phyrexian Metamorph
3 Refraction Trap
2 Celestial Purge
3 Oblivion Ring
3 Act of Agression
2 Divine Offering
It helps with the Valakut, Exarch-Twin, The Mirror, Eldrazi, and RDW. All around good board.
3) Replace the Legionaires with Spellskites? Its a wall and helps SOOO much, and Leggionaire, also from experience, always get stuck for the mana/life investment.

Gideon Jura is a 5 drop, which is a huge no-no for this deck. I play a version where I top my curve out at 2. 2! After we get our board swiped on turn 3-4, we can't afford to be stuck with a 5 drop, and a 4 drop in our hand to recover. Hero of Bladehold can be a decent card in the deck, but the consensus has largely been no, put it as a side board card.
Porcelain Legionnaire is a decent card, but I like Spellskite in its place. A 2/6 is just at good as attacking and blocking as a 3/1 first strike, and you don't have to pay 2 life to cast it. The added bonus of being able to absorb burn spells, and fight the twin combo, is nice too. Plus a turn 1 Spellskite can be seriously awesome. Plains, Memnite, Ornithopter, Mox Opal, Spellskite is not a bad turn 1 play.
Play four vault skirges. It is vital in this deck, and he will gain back your life loss every time.
If you're playing 2 MD Dismember's, I'd up the Mox Opal count to 3, which should be at 3 anyway, as Mox Opal can lead to turn 3 wins, via turn 2 TS.
As for the sideboard, just jam in some things that you think will edge out against specific decks. We can't afford to move a package of non-artifact cards in from the sideboard, so 4 cards for one deck is more than enough. Things like Hex Parasite, Phyrexian Revoker are really good sideboard cards as they are cheap artifacts, so I'd run at least a few of those to fight planeswalkers/Twin combo. Refraction Trap is good against red to stop pyroclasm.

Has anyone tried to combine this deck type with infect creatures.

I think the loss of Vault Skirge is the biggest thing, and this deck will be a bit slower (but only needs to do 1/2 the damage). Spellskite probably won't be attacking either.

Excellent point. Editing to update. Going to drop the Vector Asp and black mana all together.
I feel like I could cut a land, but what do I add?

That deck is incredibly slow compared to traditional Tempered because it has no 0 drops and one 1 drop to abuse Mox. In this case, I would incorporate counter magic to protect from removal and making it's space by taking Opal out of the deck and splashing blue with 4x Seachrome Coast and 2x glacial fortress, no blue basics.
Yes you do half the damage, but you start your damage a turn later, t3, and with low mana production, you're also summoning a creature and tapping out almost every turn.
I've actually been running Phyrexian Revokers and Glint Hawk Idols instead of O-Rings and Kor Firewalkers in my SB, but I've found that the idols haven't really been that useful and I decided on the Firewalkers rather than Timely Reinforcements just because I also get double duty off of using them with my own burn.

Lodestone Golem is a beast. Sure it does make Tempered Steel and the burn cost more, but since I've already got four mana to drop the Golem in the first place it doesn't really bother me all too much, because I can still drop my threats reliably. It really does put the hurt on opponent's decks though because they aren't built around dropping a lot of artifact based threats and so it really messes up their tempo.
Been thinking about running Steel at a PTQ this weekend. Just read through the thread and see alot of great info, but there is a card I was wondering if anyone has thought about or tested: Piston Sledge
I've toyed around with a tempered steel deck with this and etched champion, and while i'm not 100% sold on champion, piston sledge leads to some truely crushing attacks. Consider that it turns your sometimes mediocre ornithopters and signal pests into evasive powerhouses. The extra life gain you can get off a vault skirge, and if you just so happen to be running etched champion he becomes a near unblockable 5 power swinger.
As for saccing an artifact to re-equip. Well, this deck is full of artifacts, and if you draw into a 2nd Mox opal you can sac the first for a re-equip. Also glint hawk allows for some bounce/requip action without having to sac.
Thoughts? Keep in mind i'm only advocating this card as a 2of, MAYBE a 3of.

Craig Wescoe only ran his single sledge as a replacement for Steel Overseer in block. That said if you do run it maybe run some spellbombs for w: draw a card and equip Piston Sledge.
I see a lot of players running Inkmoth Nexus wich deals infect damage and only helps you win a hadfull of times. With the large number of creatures we play couldn't we benefit from Contested War Zone more. It's an all-star in Kuldotha Red decks, sometimes it helps me deal up to 10 extra damage in a game, and that isn't unusual at all. From what I've tested in this deck it can be almost as good as it is in the red decks, though it definitely isn't a 4 of, 3 is the limit.

Inkmoth nexus is just crazy good in this deck..it helps massively facing a mirror match..and its another win con..plus it helps after they sweep us..trading back and forth a land just doesnt end games..

Inkmoth Nexus is a manland with evasion. It gives us an alt win condition and gives us extra late game steam. If there was an artifact based manland of the quality of inky that didn't actually have infect, it would get played instead because it would deal normal damage rather than poison. But, since we don't actually have anything like that right now inky is the best choice we have.
Inkmoth Nexus is great for us. I use it primarily for emergency metalcraft purposes, but it + Tempered Steel is a 4 turn evasive clock that can be pretty relevant if your opponent sweeps your creatures. If it comes to it you can also use it as a chump blocker as well.

Many lists are opting to run Warzone in the side, and to echo what others are saying Inkmoth can be quite a powerhouse all on its own, especially with Overseer and Steel.

Isn't Lodestone Golem counter-productive? Playing 2WW for Tempered Steel or 1R for a Lightning Bolt doesn't seem too hot for a low land deck. Then where is Glint Hawk Idol?
There are basically no sweepers here (hence why I removed the idols).
