I miss Path greatly. It would really help my win percentage against WW Quest. Oblivion Ring is a close runner up, but we had that for three years. It was getting a bit stale. I play RW Landfall.
What card from Alara Block do you miss the most? Tell us what deck you play so we can put it in perspective.
It's understandable blue control players would be shocked and in denial at the notion of this card, since their decks have been dominating multiple formats for an eternity yet they've curiously never once had to deal with any counter-hosers that weren't ineffectual, narrow CRAP.
yea, i think oblivion ring was the best card that left, with walkers being so darn good and used in so many decks, O-ring was probably the best answer to them. But it also dealt with everything else. It fit in almost any deck that played white and was a great card
I am not sure why WotC didn't reprint it. After coming back in shards, it seemed like it was going to be a white staple for a while, and I definitely expected to see it in one of the core sets, but it wasn't. They didn't even really give us a good replacement.
Skullclamp cannot really be considered a best for it was banned upon release. I think the best card/most broken card on that list has to be Bloodbraid Elf. That card was too busted.
TBH, the crop of good midrange creatures. Knight of the Reliquary, Putrid Leech, and yes, the maligned BBE. Small creatures pretty much suck now and it's a drag. Although I love playing U/x Control.....

"I don't know why people say a double-edged sword is bad. It's a sword. With two edges." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter
Magic is a game full of bright people — and all too often bright young men who are used to always being the smartest guy in the room find themselves surrounded by a room full of intelligence and lose their cool.
Cruel Ultimatum or Terminate. There was nothing that spelled win better than the Ultimatum, but there wa nothing as efficient as Terminate in terms of removal. No fear of it only working on black creatures, it was a catch-all. I tihnk overall Cruel is what I miss more, though.
I got into Magic around the time the Lorwyn block rotated. Except for a 2-week experiment with U/R Pyromancer during M11, I ran Bloodbraid in every deck I built. Mono green aggro? Slap some Rootbound Crags in there, I want bloodbraids. RDW? Cascading into Ball Lightning seems good to me. (Yeah it didn't work well but I didn't care.)
...and of course there was Jund. Cheap. Competitive. Efficient. An inelegant weapon from a more...brutal age.
Counter spells stop everything. It's the condom Trojan dreams of making. But like condoms, if you don't have one, you still keep on playing and take the risk. Most of us wouldn't be here if this wasn't a fact.
Extractor Demon. Playing Standard Dredge (the one that was popularized during Worlds before Worldwake came out fueled by Crypt of Agadeem) was incredibly fun in a format that I wasn't too fond of because of Jund.

Volition Reins is a decent replacement for the Ring in control decks.
