This deck is similar to 5-colour control, but it sacrifices 2 colours for a much more stable manabase. It casts powerful one-sided cards like Cruel Ultimatum and Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker whilst countering any important threats.
Please keep all posts on topic. Decks posted within this thread should be of similar design (with deck tags). Anything else will be considered SPAM and infracted.
I don't have any hard numbers on this, but I'm targeted more often than a black guy driving a beat-up sedan with a broken tail-light and no license plate, and Cy's well aware of that.
Wow this build is almost identical to my grixis control deck i ran a few weeks back. Since then, however, I have tested this deck in several fnms and have come to a few conclusions.
1. In all honesty, Bitterblossom isn't that good in this deck. You really need to play it immediately on turn 2-4 so you can start to generate chump blockers, or waiting till turn +7 (after you have resovled a cruel and stabilized). Often I found it to be a dead card in my hand between these turns where I never wanted to play it (prefering to hold back counters and removal to play on my opponents). While it did save my butt several times it also killed me a few times. Since you can't champion any of them off to clique like faeries you are really limited to playing just one early on (two kills you waaaay too fast).
2. I have found that pyroclasm is REALLY needed in this deck (only as a two of maindeck). You need it to stop a fast start from kithkin and other aggro weenie decks. While +5 board sweepers might seem like a lot it really isn't. Sometimes I did find that drawing a board sweeper late game was rather underwhleming, but by then I had played mulldrifter/jace and had restocked my hand with other useful spells.
3. Jace should probably be maindecked for card drawing. This point is more debatable and you don't absolutely have to include him, but I have always found him to be useful. At the very least he replaces himself and draws a burn spell or creature away from you for a turn, which often saves me. If he stays out for several turns you will generate obscene amounts of card advantage.
These are my observations and I will continue to report about the deck in the future
I am petitioning for the removal of mythic rarity and boycotting overpriced singles. Sig this to join the cause for a more affordable Magic the Gathering.
Yeah, I myself was trying to build something of a Bolas control deck, where Scattering Strokes was suggested as some sort of mana accel. Pretty gamey if it works, so I wrapped it around a Mannequin deck to see if it could work out.
I'm running a minor land destruction subtheme, as I find that it helps a lot in stalling another player. Nicol Bolas can also destroy lands as well, which is just easy loyalty counters that help build his ultimate.

This is my take on a Grixis beatdown deck, im building it soon any advice or suggestions would be much appricated.
Stuff it does...
Riverfall Mimic triggers off over half the spells...
Sedraxis Specter + Clout of the Dominus = 5/4 Flyer, Shroud with a nice combat damage effect (Playing both on t4 could be quite fun)
Fire-Field Ogre + Clout of the Dominus = 6/4 Firststrike, Shroud
Nucklavee + Firespout/Grixis Charm/Cruel Ultimatum/Blightning
Sygg, River Cutthroat + Triggered Riverfall Mimic/Blightning/Clashed Lashout
Sygg, River Cutthroat + Unearthed player combat damage
I am petitioning for the removal of mythic rarity and boycotting overpriced singles. Sig this to join the cause for a more affordable Magic the Gathering.
I hate to break it to you, but the build you're currently running only has 56 cards in it.

Oh, this may be a noob question, sorry if it is. But what's the big deal about broken ambitions? Seems like there would be better counters. Is it a metagame thing?

Broken Ambitions is used because it is the best/only early "hard counter". Other counters like Remove Soul and Negate / Coutersquall are great but only work in certain situations. If cards like, Rune Snag or Mana Leak were Standard again, people would not really need to bother with Broken Ambitions
I have also tried Spitebellows, Nevermakers, Blightning, and Broken Ambitions.
Mana is still being worked. If I get mulldrifter evoked on 3 I flood, if no drifter shows up I sometimes get stuck with CU or Sedris in hand and 5 mana.
Sideboard is mostly against agro but the swerves are something I am testing for RDW mostly and the extra incendiary's give more pyro's and more land denial which has been awesome against some 3-5 color mana bases. Sometimes I take Flame Javelins instead for PW's mostly.
One weird problem, is this deck versus the current meta seems to make for long games...
Untapping with Sedris is usually game though, especially if Fulminators are relevant. Unless some crazy threat is out on the other side I have found Fulmi's then Mulldrifters, then Shriekmaw's to be the order I unearth in.

I'm playing a Red Aggro beat down deck and looking for an efficient removal spell that will kill 3 toughness creatures that can also be used to do damage to my opponent for 1 cmc. Are there any cards like that? Thanks

I never thought about redcap. I actually have been running some spitebellows and nevermakers too, in different amounts.
I built a grixis deck right when shards came out and it was totally original, I haven't run it lately cause my friend uses it mostly. But I found this thread so i think ill post my version of it. It is randomly good against everything.
I like the idea of grixis control so i started to toy around with it. Im pretty happy with the way this one is going right now. I havent tested a match yet with a board yeet but im fairly confident in it doing well. Heres a few things from games ive played with it.
Vs Mono Black thing
This guy played nightsky mimic with a bunch of bw things and other jank. Was pretty easy to play against. First game he ran into every sweeper i couldve played and I cleaned up with his BB and 2x Resounding Thunder. Game 2 he got me down to 1 with an unanswered Restless Appewration. I stabilized with chandra followed up with incinerate followed up with nicol bolas. He quit after bolas came online with 11 counters,
Vs 5cc
This was a looooong game. We traded vivds and tri lands for 5 turns. I burned him out in the first game with the uncounterables and answering all his threats. Game 2 I dropped every threat wildly to run him down on counters and answered all his threats pretty easily, jund charm uncountered, volcanic fallout to wipe his broodmate army. I ran back to back Cruel Ultimatum and then uncounterable burn. The only threat he had left in his deck was one Broodmate. In this game I never got nervous about losing the game.
All in all i had fun with it. At one time i questioned the makeshift becon action but it proves to be pretty good for recurring Muldrifters as blockers and fuel. Nice to trick out a levithan too. I seem to like it better without counters. Its almost like you fool your opponent into thinking you are holding back cryptic just because you have the right mana open. I can see stacking my lands for UUU1 in real magic just to screw with them. One guy it took me a while to warm up to was Malfegor, i just didnt want him to run into an O-ring or swords. He more often than not does but if you in a pickle and have jace out he is pretty house. Hes a kinda crappy damnation but in certain situations he got the job done.
As far as board choices the only one im ify on is mind shatter. Against the decks i would throw it in, by the time i can make it worth it they can counter it. Maybe Negate instead. I had a run in with this turn two Cephalid constable thing that wreked me so maybe magma spray or the like. I have had fun using wild ricochet twice on a banefire aimed at my done twice now. you couldnt pay me to take it out.
I need help with this deck...
I tested against Faeries, and it is very effective, the addition of Bitterblossom helps very much and Kederekt Creeper takes one or two faeries at once.

I tested against Faeries, and it is very effective, the addition of Bitterblossom helps very much and Kederekt Creeper takes one or two faeries at once.

i would say dicth BB for volcanic submission. most of your creatures have unearth and i can see other decks using the life loss from BB to wreck you.
