I figured it out. Salvage titan isn't what "makes" the deck, Sculpting steel is. Because what's worse than one big early game creature smashing at you wildly? 2 big early game creatures.
4 Sculpting steel, because playing two master of etherium, and a titan only to sculpt for another master of etherium... that's just *****in.
Out of curiosity, what's your Mana bse look like?

5th is just a guy snapping his fingers. Maybe Nicol Bolas can get mana that way, but I can't.
I did some more testing and I take back my earlier statement of doubt...the sheer aggressive power of steel, master, and titan are pretty good.
We don't need to go all out every game too. Look at elf ball. In certain MUs heritage druiding into hunting triad and imperious perfect is suicidal due to infest. Second or third turn titaning into a naturalize is the same thing.
We make up for that weakness in speed and our (mostly sideboarded) removal suite (something elf ball lacks)

Here's my build, i've play tested it against Type 1 (casual, but far from sucky) decks and it did ok, but there's something missing. Maybe counterspells, im not sure. Just seems like it wasnt strong enough at times.
So after much playtesting i was thinking about taking out:
Sharuum, Tezzeret and both Sculpting Steels as they didnt really impact the game whatsoever (and frankly, there's not much worth bringing back with Sharuum. Although if 2 were used, i could see some infinites being formed, assuming there's a card that would allow some kind of trigger from them returning each other to play - such as (but not limited to) Where ancients tread or Vicious Shadows)
I didnt feel like i was plowing through the cards fast enough or that i was able to gain control of the board as much. Alara needs cards in the vein of Tinker or Trash for Treasure (or hell, even 11th edition).
As it stands, i dont think the artifact build has that much of a chance to rise as a Tier 1 build. I think R/W/G+a bit of Blue has a better chance (that with Woolly Thoctor, Bant Charm and Naya Charm and others)
I would probably put 4 Cryptic Commands in it if i had them...but i dont. So i have to do with what i have.
3 springleaf drum
3 sculpting steel
4 chromatic star
2 makeshift mannequin
3 terror
I have tested this deck on mws and its done well
puppet conjurer is amazing to help with another artifact creature to sac to the titan also helps pumping glaze fiend up to swing in
Glaze Fiend is amazing I find myself swing with it so often as a 4 power creature or higher.
two cards im thinking of taking out makeshift mannequin and Sharuum the Hegemon very lackluster performance from both of them thinking of adding capsule in their place or the gargoyle that lets you recover artifacts.
Oh by the way how is Sigil of Destruction? Is it good??

Not to be rude, but this doesn't pertain to the thread, which is about Salvage Titan.
EDIT:// Sorry if this is "backseat moderating." :[
My explanation is this: I believe in order to be competitive against other aggro decks, this deck needs a good 2 mana spell that can kill more than one creature. To me pyroclasm seemed perfect, because 2 damage is the way to go. Cleans their **** out, and hopefully mine is fine because all my creatures should have a defense of 3 minimum, assuming master of etherium, and if not then salvage titan lives on.
This opened the door to the card that really makes this deck pack a meaty, clobbering punch. Soul's Fire
Whether you cast it with a titan, a big master, or just an ornithopter with a particularly large sigil of distinction on it, this card can really kick ass and take names.
I implore people to start testing this deck out with red again, because I can see it as the way to go.
2. Is Artifact a type for creatures meaning can i animate a mutavault and sac to Titan.
3. Should Agony Warp be ran over Terror?
1. No. It does not actually say the Titan can be played as an instant. Even with the alternate casting cost it is played just like a creature.
2. Read Mutavault. It does not become an artifact. For a card to be an artifact, it must have that sub-type listed in the card or be part of the ability when you activate Mutavault.
3. Yes, for two big reasons. One, it can target black and artifact creatures. Two, it can potentially two-for-one and provide excellent combat tricks.
surging chaos thanks for the advice I am going to add agony warp in to replace terror, but what about infest should that be there over agony warp or in sideboard?
?
We're already running Sculpting Steels, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem to draw into it and just gain infinite life or something. And it would be a surprise to the opponent g2, making firespouts and the like pretty useless.

Not having Master of Etherium in... I'm not sure how that's going to work yet, but to me they're kind of like Mutavault. I don't have them, and dammit, I'm not spending the money. Maybe for regionals, depending on how well this works out.
I'm really liking the idea of a Turn 1 Titan that double strikes on Turn 2, but more than anything, I'm trying to justify tossing white in there. I really want the Scullers, enough to take out Strix, since dropping one gives me the chance to take out a potential problem, and frees up room by just sticking the counters in my sideboard. The fact that neither of my counterspells can counter their creatures isn't a mistake, I just expect that the Capsules, along with the O-rings should take care of anything I need them to.
Tezzeret... ok, he's here because I've gotten 2 so far, and want to stick him in a deck. Probably not the best idea, but he's a tutor... I guess.
i still argue that titan is over rated, master is way betterespecially if ur gona run 4 heaps dolls and ornithopters.
and i also recon nameless inversion is better thn capsule
Sam111111 I am trying to see how this infinite is suppose to work but I cant see it can you explain a little bit on how it works
in short...both Sharuums come into play, triggering legendary rule, then triggering return artifact.
1) Trigger Legendary rule = death to both Sharuums
2) By the time the Return artifact triggers, but Sharuums are in the graveyard
3) Return both Sharuums
4) Lathe, Rinse, Repeat
Well. taking the UBR version to FNM tonight, if the mail gets here when it's suppose to. Probably will do well today, but I think this deck needs serious help from the next alara set before we can start playing it consistently.
Question what should be the minimum land ran in the deck mine is running 22 right now has anyone gone lower and had success? I mean really all we need is like 3 land at most in play to play all our cards...
You can play with 20-21 lands pretty easily. You have stuff like Springleaf Drum and Etherium Sculptor to make everything far easier to cast.
Ok guys, the more and more I try using Salvage Titan, the less effective it is. Having to sac 3 artifacts to bring it into play is a huge investment and you will be ****ed in the face of removal. Boomerang and other bounce wrecks it. It doesn't help it can fall to stuff like Naturalize and other artifact destruction.
Even worse it doesn't have trample. It's not fun when this guy continues to run into 1/1 speedbumps and other chump blockers stopping it short of carving up your opponent's life total.

Glaze fiend is also good, but the anti combo with titan is too great to run both of them.
EDIT- we can run Agony Warp for 2 cc removal that can take one creature down and fog another.

By focusing more on consistency and a solid aggro build, I think a Titan-less deck can work because he can screw you over so bad.
i dont quite understand why you'd want to have heap doll in there...for the scarecrow?? or even, for that matter, the scarecrone??
i just feel that that space can be better invested elsewhere, like in the death capsule and things like Telling time, Ponder and some such.
Just feels like having the scarecrows is really not necessary.
