The post never needed feedback, it was just to say how the deck could be.
I posted to give an idea and make a rogue draft of the deck, not to have someone that never read what I said reply to it saying EXACTLY what I already said...
A comment like "I don't like the idea because [reason]" would've made sense and help the discussion, or something along the line of "I'd play [this] and [that] MD because [blah blah blah]".
THAT would've helped the discussion and development of the deck, not "You need more green mana!!".
1. Development results are in, you DO need more green mana.
2. You should have more Thelonite Hermit's. Other than shapeshifter it's your MVP of morphs.
3. I think Mystic Snake has awful mana requirements for a deck that wants to do more than 1 thing on opp's turn more often than not. Delay is better if Teferi is in the deck. Esp. against aggro.

Hey guys i was wondering if something like this could work. If you guys can do the testing with this that would be great! I would really want to take something like this, this Friday. The only time i actually get to play magic is at FNM. Keep in mind this is something off the top of my head. Thanks
Where are the Shapeshifters and Duals?? I don't see why you would play Brine Elemental and Hermit if you play no Shapeshifter.
If you can't get Breeding Pools and Coasts, you should probaly just play Mono U. That way you only need 2 rares in the deck (Teferi and Shapeshifter)
Also some Trickbinds would be very good SB against projectX and Storm.
Crap i forgot the Shapeshifters, I'll fix it up right away. I can get my hands on Breeding Pool and Yavimaya Coast it's just i was giving a rough indication on how many blue and green sources to use.
Pickles isnt really "pickles" without Vesuvan Shapeshifter. IMHO, since ive been playing this deck for about 5 months now, if you dont have Shifter, you dont have the deck. I mean its how we win against control, how we help the aggro match, and how we absolutely own the mirror, which is a very hard match indeed. I would defnitely look into getting 4 of these if you have none, as they arent really an expensive rare(about 5 or 6 on ebay), and if you cant get them my best advice would be to give the deck up.

LOL I actually forgot to put the Shifters in I already have a playset of them. Got them for around $12 for the playset when it just came out. And yes, without the Shapeshifters there wouldn't be much reason for playing the deck.
I have a version of U/G pickles that I'm working on right now, and I'm curious: Why no willbender main? Against aggro decks, it allows you turn their own removal against their own creatures, or turn their pump into removal, against control it allows you to win counter-wars (if you don't have Teferi in play), and against project X, it allows you to kill their combo whenever you wish by redirecting the Saffi target.
And why no chord of calling? Chord would let you run a toolbox of creatures that are good as one-ofs (for example, Silklash spider from 9th... I'm still trying to figure out what I should replace it with in 10th)
I know that it's good to be able to run counters stuff like rewind and mystic snake, but I think that you need at least 2 more 2 cc counterspells. It ensures that you normally get at least 1 in your hand by turn two. 60 / 8 = 7.5. I can't say much more than that since I've never used thelonite hermit.
As for time stop, if it doesn't shut down an otherwise unwinnable match, I wouldn't put it in. It doesn't do a whole lot in this deck since a late game time walk doesn't give this deck effective card advantage, tempo or power.
I have an awkward meta. No one where I play uses net decks for guidelines so we come up with some pretty crazy stuff. Stuff like a suspend/storm deck (and it works), B/r Korlash (red is for bust), white weenie, B/U fish, B discard w/o rack, goblinstorm, and madness. What I was thinking of was splashing red for pyroclasm effects. I don't know how viable it is I know pyroclasm kills morphs but it looks like an amazingly good card in my meta.
Since I'll be splashing red for that and already have the cards for it, are there any red cards that I might get a good use out of?

K guys, been away for a while, but havent forgotten about good ol Pickles. I think that since we dont lose much after the 9th rotation, and alot of decks lose a hell of alot more than we do, that this deck is going to be widely competetive post 10th. And im still working on foiling this out(yes i am that awesome) before the MSS, and im about halfway done. I should be able to do it besides the Teferis(considering theyre 20-25 a piece), and i am still considering trunning this for that event. Although i am torn between this and 2 other decks(Mono Black Rack and Bridge Dredge), so i have to do alot more testing, but i am fine tuning my Pickles list still. Heres where im at:
13 Snow Covered Island
1 Urza's Factory
4 Dreadship Reef
4 Desert(i think since RDW is making a strong comeback, we need to go back to playing 4)
2 Dimir Aqueduct
4 Vesuvan
4 Brine
3 Seer
3 Teferi
2 Bender
4 Cancel
4 Remand
4 Snare
4 Snag
4 Repeal
SB:
Aside from 3-4 Ironfoot, i am open to all suggestions. I dont know if Needle is appropriate in here(mostly because i am cheap and dont own any, and unless you got them back in the Kamigawa days, you are SOL), but also because our Bridge match is actually not that bad on the play, and on the draw is still winnable. Maybe well have to play 4 Leyline or Extirpate, but could you guys give me some SB tips? Since White and Rewind are gone, that means 10 card are(4 Rewind, 3 COP, 3 ***). On one last note, i dont think splashing a color is necessary. Lets see, White gives you ***, and thats about it(besides there is also a black ***); Black gives you Damnation, Extirpate, Leyline; Red? gives you i guess Skred, Shunt, Vore, Reiterate; Blue gives you..............................; Gren gives you Root Maze, Hermit, Wall, Chord. So if i had to pick the best, i would have to say Black because it improves our worst 2 matchups: Aggro and Bridge. But in all honesty, MonoU is the right way to go, and right now the only thing a second color does is gives us mana problems.

The only problem i have with Root Maze is that it is entirely situational. If you drop it early, the only thing it really does is stall a turn or two. The only time it is good to drop is after you combo off, and ill have to admit that that sounds amazing to do, but is it even necessary? All you have to do after comboing off is to sit there and watch them build up mana while you build up counterspells, and once they play their huge spell, just tap 2 or 3 mana and say NO. If they point a Hellbent Demonfire at your dome, then you should have found a Willbender, or another Shapeshifter(if you already have a Bender face up), which should be lethal. I think Root Maze to me looked interesting at first, but then i realized it is an unnecessary card, and is too situational to consider. I think, as i said in my last post, MonoU is the way to go. It is what i q'd for the MSS with, and if i play Pickles, what i will play at the Champs.

Just wondering here, but does arcanis, the omnipotent have a spot in this deck? Drawing three a turn with a built in bounce effect for 6 is nice I think.

I'm kinda new to this deck; had to ditch my Dralnu build after getting negative matchups against several popular archetypes. I've been testing a simple and tight U/W version of Pickles, and it's been doing quite well in testing. I'd like some feedback:
Basically it's a Pickles/Blink crossbuild, and you can go for Venser-based disruption and beatdown early or pickles lock late. Momentary Blink's been working miracles, both helping the deck's consistency along with Court Hussar, accelerating your combo by flipping Brine Elemental early, and allowing you to basically run 15 Remands and 7 Boomerang maindeck with Venser, Shaper Savant.
Vedalken Mastermind may prove to be useful by recycling your creatures and giving you some resilience should Vesuvan Shapeshifter get Extirpated. I'm not too thrilled about having to run 22 + 4, and I'd really want that fourth maindeck Venser, but the build's so tight I really wouldn't know what to pull out.
Another thing of notice is the sideboard. I still need to test if Jotun Grunt could serve as a decent replacement to Tormod's Crypt or Extirpate against Dredge, although with that body plus blink backup it's certainly worth trying.
Wrath of God may or may not be such a good idea against beatdown decks; you can certainly stall the board with your guys alone, and Faith's Fetters may prove to be enough against Gruul, especially with Mastermind and Venser bouncing them all day long.
Seht's Tiger is also worth another look here by forcing overcommitments and favorable trades. Should there be some space left on the sideboard, Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir is definitely in.

I'd like to know if something like this has been tried already, and if so what's the feedback. As I said I'm quite new to the deck so I might be trying to reinvent the wheel a little. Comments?

People hiss and grunt at Mark Rosewater for the state of the game. Few realize, though, that it is Aaron Forsythe who is directly responsible of the current state of affairs due to negligence as head of Magic R&D and a completely skewed view of the game as a whole.
So next time you want to make an avvy with Rosewater pissing on something, take a deep breath and consider pasting Forsythe's face there instead...

I'm actually working on a UGW build. One thing to note, you already have a main deck answer to Dredge in your Hussars. Play them without the white to get rid of their Bridges.
I'm actually working on a UGW build. One thing to note, you already have a main deck answer to Dredge in your Hussars. Play them without the white to get rid of their Bridges.
Actually, I'm running two maindeck 1-card answers, and two maindeck 2 card combos that act as answers. Court Hussar and Venser, Shaper Savant are easy to self-sacrifice on their own. Momentary Blink can be used to force a Hussar to sacrifice itself, and Vesuvan Shapeshifter could copy Venser and enact the Legend Rule. Anyway, this is not the point.
Dredge G1 is definitely winnable unles they get a crazy draw, which means the actual sideboard plan would be to smooth out any early game bumps by forcing them to stall their fundamental turn. Theoretically, if they want to play around an early Jotun Grunt they would need to stall their development for about two turns and take at least 8 damage.
However this is all restricted to timing issues: whether you play Grunt first, whether they've already started dredging, etc. The Grunt also works similarly to your maindeck hosers, which means he's also more likely to get hosed by whatever they side in. Then again, if they board in Krosan Grip expecting Tormod's Crypt, they're in for a nasty surprise...

How have the Vedalken Masterminds been working out for you? I looked at them for a little, but then i wasnt too sure what they would actually do in Pickles. Just to let you know, I really hope you aren't using Shapeshifters to copy Vensers just to remove Bridges, because that is a horrid play. Simply flip the Shifter and do not choose a crit in play, Shapefhifter dies and you get to keep your Legendary 2/2 Chumper
As i said, I'm quite new to the deck and I still need to figure out some of the most intricate interactions. Point taken, though.

After some more testing I'm not really sold on those myself. They take the focus off the Pickles lock and unto Venser disruption. While bouncing off several of their permanents/spells has its uses, it has a much more powerful application in a dedicated deck, i.e. BlinkRiders. Does this deck wants to play BlinkRiders? Maybe, maybe not...
I'm currently testing 2x Tidings as a way to recover after a Damnation in the MBC matchup. It's not that it's a hard matchup; it's only that you're pressed to overextend your board to play around discard, and you definitely need to recover some card advantage in case they have mass removal.

Try arcanis instead of tidings and see if it works. If it sticks around for a few turns, not only will you recover, but you will likely win the game. Also, I know this sounds like a stupid suggestion, but try 1 or 2 copies of angel of angel of salvation in your deck. I'm suggesting it more for the blink / bounce interaction but I think it would be funny to watch an aggro deck to run into a wall of 3 creatures one being a 5/5. Aven riftwatcher could be useful as well for similar reasons.

I was sad today, because my Bridge From Belows didnt come in the mail yet, so i had to audible to Pickles. I went 3-1, 4th place on tiebreakers, and i played the same normal MD, but i changed the SB a little:
I couldnt find anything else for the board, and i knew Trickbind was gonna be a dead card, so i decided to play 4 Remove Soul, and ill have to say the times i boarded them in, they did pretty well. I cut Rune Snag straight up for Souls strictly because they both cost 2 mana, and in those matchups they essentially counter the same stuff, and you use your Cancels on their Chars/Psi Blasts/etc.
So, now that i realized i am finally getting my Gruul stuff back from my friend, that i am no longer playing Pickles for the MSSS. Not only is Gruul such an easier deck to play, but i just dont think i am experienced enough to play Pickles anyways. If i didnt end up getting my Gruul stuff, i would have played Black Rack over Pickles anyways, again because its an easier deck, and i dont have enough exp with Pickles, it is such a hard deck to play correctly even 80% of the time. So i will be out of this thread for about a week or so, but dont worry ill be back. Until then my friends, good luck with your Pickles deck, and i just have one thing to say to you if you plan on playing this at Nats/MSS: test until your brain explodes.
EDIT: I guess my friend didnt come through with the Gruul stuff(im kinda pissed at him, seeing it was my stuff), so i tlooks like im going to either play this, Rack, RDW, or Bridge for the MSS Nats. I will be testing for at least 4-5 hours a day this week, and ill test everything, but i really think i will end up playing this. I really like the way this deck can just randomly beat people, and ive won so many games at 1-2 life it isnt funny. Pickles can win games it shouldnt normally win, and thats why it is an amazing deck, especially for this new standard.
well hello again ... i was missing fo quite a time, not reading this thread ... cas i've been testing Block fo PTQ season but suddenly ive got GPT Krakow in a month time with T2 being the format ... so it's time to play sum standart Pickles ...
well, now that there is no reason to splash white we have to consider, whether it is a rite thing to do - to splash another color ... or should we stick to mono u ...
y splashing a color? - basicly to deal with things that monou can not deal with ... beasicly - that wat was done with White splash - removal ...
now im thinkin to splash Black fo terrors ... but stiill we can stick to white fo Temporal Isolation and Faith's Fetters ... the only thing i'm scared off is Red Akroma - will it see play in AgelFire and how to deal with it if splashing white ...
I think Urza's Factory is still an auto include, as is Desert, especially with the rise of Red based aggro. But im not sure about the others, Cavern was originally thought when it was first released, but it isnt as good as it looks. Fairy Conclave id have to test, but it could be good, im not sure.

Pickles can win games it shouldnt normally win, and thats why it is an amazing deck, especially for this new standard.
well, now that there is no reason to splash white we have to consider, whether it is a rite thing to do - to splash another color ... or should we stick to mono u ...
y splashing a color? - basicly to deal with things that monou can not deal with ... beasicly - that wat was done with White splash - removal ...
now im thinkin to splash Black fo terrors ... but stiill we can stick to white fo Temporal Isolation and Faith's Fetters ... the only thing i'm scared off is Red Akroma - will it see play in AgelFire and how to deal with it if splashing white ...
any thoughts on it ...
Faerie Conclave? Zoetic Cavern? Desert? Urza's Factory? And in what proportions?
