I really love Champion of Stray Souls.
I sacrifice my creature to resurrect the dead one,
and then, next turn I will sacrifice my just resurrected one, to resurrect the one i just sacrificed on the turn before.
"Oh yeah, not even Liliana could compare to my cruelty, i will keep sacrificing and resurrecting my armies!!!"
Mwa ha ha ha ha ... *Laughing maniacally*
Experience Rated R: use at your own risk and of course with enter the battlefield abilities
ETB effects that make tokens. So that you can continue to sac more creatures for more value. So... something in WB I would think.
Ah, right. Now Springleaf Drum makes sense to me. I guess Springleaf Drum could make the white one more usable.
I thought we might see creature synergy with it, but now I wonder if we might see scry explored more thoroughly. I hope so. The only way the white one is really gonna make it is with springleaf I think.

Even something as simple as abhorrent overlord or captain of the watch would go nuts with that. Now if only there was a good general in white/black for token sac shinanigans
Loving the new mythic, so much more mythic-y-ness than the disappoint-wrapped phoenix.
The cycle is cute, tho I know its gonna happen that ill make the token, then draw a bomb card that I can no longer cast because of the mana spent. Personally like the black one best, love me some pseudomammas and zombie children. I also feel that the white one is just going to be underwhelming.
Question is tho, could you, using springleaf drum, tap one for mana in response to your untap step and use said mana to pay for its own ability? I think not but I've been pleasantly surprised in the past.

Loving the uncommons for limited. Green, black and blue ones should work without support. With no outside help, white will be lucky to activate even once. Red is a little weird. I supect when it is good it will be very good but absolutely disgusting when it is bad. Springleaf Drum is becoming a better pick each day that passes. Though truth to be told, it has zero sinergy with Theros set so I'm for now not convinced it is a first pick.
Aura is bonkers in WU Heroic, probably better than the bear Hero.
Infest variant will make life hard in all four formats it is relevant in.

Not exactly. Inspired triggers on the untap step but you don't receive priority therein. The ability goes to the stack at the beggining of your upkeep, at which point you can tap the Inspired creature for Springleaf Drum to pay for its own ability.
Champion of Stray Souls is how you get Recurring Nightmare, put it in a beatstick, make it work for any number of creatures at once, and make it horribly bad.
there you go.

wtf is this woc.... where's the damnation reprint...
This is hilarious every single time. It starts off with someone saying they wish Damnation or a black DoJ should be reprinted in whatever's the next set, or some stray rumour that it will be, and then everyone thinks it ought to be because, you know, it makes sense when you think about it, right? And suddenly this whole community decides that there's just no way it's not going to happen. And then they print a card that in itself is great, just not compared to the impossible standards that forum users have hyped each other up to expect, and then it's "**** you Wizards". Even after being told that the sweeper was a strictly better infest, people wanted it to be an instant with -3/-3 and scry 2+.
Keep an eye out for how Rumor Mill reacts if Ajani in JOU isn't GW, which is also something that an astounding number of people on here have decided he just has to be based solely on this: 1) he was featured in the art of some green cards six or so blocks ago, and 2) there is a GW mythic slot in JOU, and of course 3) "it's about time they print a GW planeswalker". Right now, many people on here are so sure that they feel that WotC owes them a GW Ajani. Just... speculate away, sure, but please don't keep WotC responsible for not giving you exactly what you wish they'd print and when.

Now, the cards.
I like Drown in Sorrow. I'll probably keep using Anger of the Gods, but -X/-X is often a lot more powerful than damage, so we'll see how hard weenies are to kill this season.
Ephara's Enlightenment is very cool. A repeatable boost, evasion aura and heroic trigger is probably going to make some WB heroic aggro/weenie build good.
I think the Champion is disappointing. I can't see where he could possibly see play, but if it's good in EDH, I wouldn't know. It looks like utter trash in standard constructed.
Not too keen on the inspired cycle. You need to either attack or tap it with another card, and then wait for a whole turn, and then pay a decent deal of mana? Seems like you're putting a lot of resources to make it happen. General could work with the protection from Brave the Elements/Gods Willing/Boros Charm, but otherwise it's very fragile, that thing has a huge target on its head.
Those token makers are simply great. What is even better is when they untap if you have springleaf drum out you can tap them for next turn and use the mana to help pay for the ability. Really groovy baby.
I can sum up Champion of Stray Souls; here it goes. Why do I think this card is so terrible? Because WoTC is afraid of the graveyard. That's right: Wizards gets all spooked whenever reanimating is under discussion. Why? I have no idea. Reanimator decks have always been good with the right cards, but they aren't as problematic as some of the other decks people have created in the metagames. They're afraid if this guy cost lower and was weaker than he'd be way too good. True, but at least it would be worth mythic rarity status. Right now, this guy suffers from some major identity crisis.
Why? Because you have a 4/4 creature that can either be aggressive and attack, or it can be a reanimating thing. Usually you don't want to mix these roles unless one activates off the other.
Here is another reason why they neutralized this card. I'm pretty sure they think Black Devotion is going to be crazy. This is just a card that costs a ton of mana because they're assuming it woul be an insane deck if it didn't.
Okay, so putting all of that aside, WoTC still managed to mess this card up to make it a terrible mythic rare. How? For one, they made it a skeleton instead of a zombie, or even a spirit for that matter. If it were a zombie at least it could help set up a bunch of tribal plays with that large archetype, that also works well in the graveyard. But no.
Finally, here is how I think they Should have designed this card. It should have been a Legendary Mythic Rare Zombie and it should have been a Returned. Why? Because that makes sense! For one, they have these awesome guys in the set called the returned, and instead they give a mythic skeleton the lead role as the mythic. Wtf. Additionally, had this been legendary, they could have lowered the costs on some of these abilities, and it would have been playable! EDH would love this guy. I'm sure he will see play, it's just, they did a lot of things wrong. Things that didn't need to be done, and this card would have been amazing but not OP.

Who else thought that this guy might have gotten it right until he called a 6 mana 4/4 with no relevant combat stats aggressive? I've seen giant Foxes in Limited more terrifying than that.
I am not a Standard player. I was hoping for instant speed, scry 2,-3/-3, you gain 2 life, or something similar. The scry lands have shown that adding scry 1 to a mediocre card does not make it good in Modern, which is the main format that I play.
i was under the impression that the enters the play tapped is what was keeping scrye lands from seeing modern play. if they didnt are you saying you wouldnt play them?
I think the only reason to be disappointed by Drown in Sorrow is to be expecting a Damnation reprint. For those like me who where just asking for Infest this will be more than enough. Will see play for sure.
Ephara's Enlightenment will be VERY good in limited and might even see standard play. The inspired cycle looks good too, but I doubt any of those can make it to constructed.
And man, I have no words to describe how well that skeleton fits in my Teysa, Orzhov Scion EDH deck. Given it will be worthless in any other format I won't have any problem acquiring it.
Ah, the most creative way to make a strictly better version of a card - tack on scry 1. How boring. Only the mythic is at all interesting and it's horribly expensive. Those token creators are yet another demonstration of how uninspired Inspired is as a mechanic.
I like that enchantment. That is a nice enchantment.
Nice uncommon cycle. Aerie Worshippers seems the best to me cause making 2/2 flyers isn't bad when attached to a 2/4. She can block for me and I could use witch's eye or something to tap her at the end of your turn. Second best would be the Raiders. 5/5 that makes 3/3s is nice.
shrek ftw haha
btw, Does anyone know what the heck a pseudamma is???????????
I feel like todays spoilers are getting alot of hate. Infest plus scry seems REALLY good to me, again why do people underestimate scry?? I mean its not the broken sweeper black control was hoping for when they heard "strictly better," but its still awesome.
Skeleton master of dead things is really cool, and for once its an EDH target card that Im actually happy isnt a commander he works well in black creature decks without being really stupid. Not an auto include I think, but an awesome skeleton is always cool to see
and these uncommon inspired dudes seem totally fair and pretty powerful. Sure some are better than others, but what do you expect? all in all, some awesome cards getting spoiled
