Standard (Type 2) is a great format that is constantly kept fresh by new sets about every 3 months. Each set has many, many cards in it, however some cards are just not as powerful as others. Some cards are instantly labeled as bulk rares or even junk cards and trashed by the community and also loads of times literally... These are the top ten cards in standard that you've probably trashed without thinking of its power level when I can tell you from personal experience a lot of these cards are very powerful
NUMBER 10: Duskmantle Seer
Duskmantle is a #10 since most people don't actually "trash" mythical and ex specially not this one (he's most peoples pet card it seems). He has a lot going for him a 4/4 flying body which is under costed along with his most prominent feature drawing you cards at usually low life loss if you build him right, and giving your opponent cards at usually high loss of life. It's important to note that he triggers only on your upkeep which means you are the first to recieve the benefits of the extra card, along with putting your opponent at a lower life before your attack step. The big thing that holds him back is that A: Desecration Demon exist, and B: Blue Black X, as long as X isn't white isn't usually a accepted strategy.
NUMBER 9: Alms Beast
I can tell you this card has killed more times than a date to tell you. I don't believe Desecrarion is strictly better as this guy can actually play defense but I will tell you watching newer players suicide there creatures into him on offense just to gain life is pretty hilarious. Over all this guy isn't really that good but I can't tell you that he is better than his quarter price tag. EXTRA: Combos well with Erebos (;
NUMBER 8: Turn//Burn
Oh boy this card has saved from everything from worldspine worms to rakdos cacklers. This is a catch all card that has so much versatility! It can kill Master Of Waves, Blood Baron, Desecration Demon, And even GODS! This card can reliably two for 1 as well as it can spot up and rip apart the best creatures in the format.
NUMBER 7: Sire of Insanity
I know black red hasn't seen much play lately but this card is just a control deck hoser, trust me I've been hosed by it before. It did get a lot worse however once the format rotated as Underworld Connections became popular along with the printing of heroes downfall. None the less he is still a High quality sideboard card against the like of Esper And UW control.
NUMBER 6: Aetherize
Surprise! That's what you say when mono blue turns all it's elemental tokens sideways since they were never predicting this gate crash uncommon to get them. Aetherize can also be used well against mono red and Colossal gruul as it forces them to replay all their cards while you smash them with creatures or find that supreme verdict.
NUMBER 5: Domestication/ Soul Ransom
Mind control effects are so powerful as you and your opponent both go down a card and you gain a powerful creature. On the lines of Soul Ransom I don't know what creature your opponent is willing to 4 for 1 themselves to get back but if they do it then they just helped you dig to a second one (;
Number 4: Gyre Sage
I have a dream that this card will return to the top of the PT circuit. Yes it's a bit undersized but that's what you want out of this girl the ability to create a Incredible Hulk like elf of mana. Now that you have that imagery set imagine this. Turn two Gyre Sage. Turn three Give//Take give targeting gyre Sage. Next turn Vastwood hydra for 5 counters evolve trigger gyre Sage. Then if they kill your 5/5 you'll have a 10/11 eldrazi size elf now known as a Elfdrazi! Muahahaha. This does although require a lot of durdling from your opponent but the possibility is there!
NUMBER 3: Clan Defiance
You all read Clan Defiance correctly right? It's choose one OR MORE, More being ALL three. and it's in the colors where you can make inhumane amounts of mana off of Nykthos. Kill your dorky ground creature, Then kill your Nightveil specter, THEN dome you for 3! For just 5 mana. Now go back to that 10/11 Sage and now you untap on turn 5 with Clan defiance and do it for 12! Yes please magical Christmas land you are my afterlife.
NUMBER 2: Far//Away
I played this card from day one as either a three of or a four of in all my Esper list so far and this card is one of the best femoral spells in the deck. You can unsummon or you can edict OR do both? Yes please. This card should definitely see more play as it is very powerful against monoblack returning their muravault and making them sac. A creature is something I always snicker at (:
NUMBER 1: Immortal Servitude (Credit to Discovery to Roguedeck Builder)
If you have never played with this card in its "heyday" then you have not lived! This deck spawned a whole archetype for me and my friends it was awesome! Bug Immortal servitude, Naya Immortal Servitude, Dega immortal Servitude, and my personal creation Junk Immortal Servitude. If you're wondering what is this crazy nincompoop is saying just look up Roguedeck Builder playing with it, trust me there are some very hilarious matches that Kevin (Roguedeck Builder) gets into.
Please feel free to post what cards you feel are underrated maybe overrated do you feel that I was completely off or dead on, and have you ever built with the above cards?

Just throwing in my 10 cents: far/away is amazing. I don't think I ever feel bad about having one in hand. There are so many situations where you dominate a combat on the back of that card
I wouldn't say that Turn // Burn is being trashed by the community. Many players see it the same way you do... as a way to remove creatures with powerful "when this creature dies" effects, not to mention Blood Baron.
There's a debate about Alms Beast and whether he's better or worse than Desecration Demon in some situations, since your opponent can't just tap the Beast with a throwaway creature like with the Demon.
I want to add Polis Crusher to this list. He shares the same slot as Ghor-Clan Rampager, but I found a way to run both in my new standard Naya beatdown deck. Having pro-enchantments saves him from Detention Sphere and the Monstrosity is fairly costed, and even better since he has trample. Great mana sink to make a 7/7 trample! It's only 50 cents right now, so it's a bargain!

Primeval Bounty, Clan Defiance, Gyre Sage, Duskmantle Seer, Ashiok, all cards I always want to make work in my decks, and all cards I end up cutting eventually
I do think out of all of them that Clan Defiance is just ridiculously underplayed, especially with Nykthos in the picture now. The anti-synergy with Garruk and Domri in Mono G or G/R keeps it low I feel.
Turn // Burn and Far // Away are two of my favorite fusion cards possible. So versatile and effective. I will admit I always forget that AEtherize exists.

I will always firmly stand by the belief that Magic is a game first and a collectable second.
I agree with everyone saying Primeval Bounty. I'd like to add Master Biomancer. So much potential, yet he just isn't fast or reliable enough to get there in the meta. He's started in almost all of my simic lists, but has been dropped almost every time...
If I had the money for Boros Reckoners, I'd run a green-red ramp deck that Clan Defiances my opponent and my own Reckoner, which would then reflect to my opponent.
is great... requires clever deck building but I enjoy it. Although it is similar deck building required to dodge thoughtsieze. The UR god and scryland can't come fast enough.
I went and bought a play set of immortal servitude.. but never found a deck for it :(.. I was trying to build Beck and Serve deck but just hasn't got the 1 or 2 drops I need for it.
Liliana's Reaver has a bunch of useful abilities and decent size for the cost.
Shadowborn Demon bangs their best creature and has a fat body with evasion for 5cc.
I agree on both. Lately I've been playing a janky deck featuring Liliana's Reaver (among other zombies) and he's been an all star. Just one hit puts you way ahead, so they always try to stop him by all means. (That's why I play Whip of Erebos too :D.)
If anything, there are too many underpowered cards seeing play in Standard as it is. In a format where Judge's Familiar is considered to be an acceptable 1-drop, it's not a good sign for the cards mentioned in this thread that even they see no play.

Sounds like fun! I had a similar deck for a while with Whip and a bunch of enters the battlefield triggers and "card advantage" guys such as these two, Lifebane Zombie, Sin Collector and other such fun.

Its not that they're underpowered, its that many of the top decks right now are very synergistic, especially since devotion was introduced. Judge's familiar is crud in a vacuum, but in certain Mono U or Mono W builds, he can be exactly what is needed at the 1 slot. By the same token, Nightveil Specter is a solid card, but he isn't necessarily that efficient stats-wise for 3 cmc, and saw zero play before Theros.
Right now, you can't just jam every powerful card in a deck and win in standard, like last season with Jund.
This is entirely subjective and silly of me of course. But whenever someone's casting those last 4 spells on me, I look at them and think, so unimaginative!
I also agree that liliana's reaver is really good. I love/hate it when people cast that against me.

How Rakdos Return doesn't find its way into a Nykthos deck is beyond me. Heck, the Lord of Riots himself is a house in the right situation.
Liliana's Reaver has a bunch of useful abilities and decent size for the cost.
Shadowborn Demon bangs their best creature and has a fat body with evasion for 5cc.
Nighthowler is amazing if you have removal in your deck and a relevant body to put him on.
Nivmagus Elemental gets big quickly if you come up with the right engine (cipher?).
I think I've finally given up on the Corpsejack Menace (Bioshift ftw!) but the crush was fun while it lasted.

Shadowborn Demon is in the same pack as Archangel of Thune and Kalonian Hydra: really good cards that can't seem to find a home.
