Do you know of any funny comedians whose material is positive and light-hearted rather than critical and cynical? Most of the great comedians I know of, such as Carlin and Louie CK, are very funny but also rather dark. I would like to listen to something that will make me laugh without also making me feel bad.
If that's not hard enough, I would also prefer minimal use of sex, drugs, and politics as topics.
The two that immediately came to mind are Brian Regan and Mike Birbiglia.
Edit: Mitch Hedberg. That guy was an absolute genius and his material was always squeaky clean. He was the king of non-sequiturs and one liners. If he was still alive he'd own twitter. One of his greats is "Someone asked me if I want a frozen banana and I was like no. But I want a regular banana later so yes!"
thanks for the suggestions. I checked out Regan, Hills, and Gaffigan and they're great.
I listened to some MH cds about 7 years ago, very good, maybe I'll give it another go. Bit of a stoner comic but I'll take a happy stoner over a bitter sober guy.

Jeff Dunham has several of his 'acts' are light-hearted and jovial.
Good mention. I really enjoy his stuff.

(about the English language) It's kinda like a raft that was cobbled together from parts of three different boats and since then has been kept barely afloat with crude repairs every time a leak appeared.
He's like Dane Cook... thinks himself funny, but no one likes him.

But you're the first person I've found hates Norm. Also, a lot of people like Dane Cook, except for people on the internet. It's like Nickelback. They have a lot of nice songs but the internet hates them

Lol, why, anyway?
Google suggests Perry Kurtz and Taylor Mason are positive comedians.

Does Norm McDonald count? Does he do comedy anymore or just show up to CC's roasts to be a space case?
A few years ago my brother saw Norm at the Glass House, in Pasadena, CA. He told me that Norm was really dark; talking a lot about death. My brother was taken aback and startled to heckle him. Long story short ---> my brother and his friend were kicked out, lol.
Plus, didn't Norm have some sort of out-burst 4 or 5 years ago while on stage?
What about Tom Green or Bobby Lee. Both have some really odd acts. Tom Green just mostly makes weird faces... hey, you said positive, not funny. Both of those are not very funny.
Cheech and Chong's live performances may be heavily marijuana addled, but as a whole, nothing dark or dreary going on with them.

I despise Norm. hate him. whenever he was the guest on the Dennis Miller Show, I'd turn to something else.
Bill Cosby?
His Himself performance is hilarious, despite being over 30 yrs old.

How can you hate Norm? Is it just his voice or something?

I have to second this one. Guy is really funny, happy, positive and relatively clean.
