Hey gang, I was looking to quickly pick up some singles, and I was wondering what the most reliable store in NYC for stocking most standard singles would be. I'm looking for a range of cards, from Purphorus, god of the forge to Species Gorger.

Because I don't like waiting for packages to arrive, and I'm on vacation and have some time to head out to Brooklyn or whenever I'd need to go to get them.

Kings games has the best card stock, but you will pay a premium for your cards. The 20 sided store is next, but their card stock starts from abut the previous 4 years of sets with a few eternal playables. Then there is Duelzone in flushing which has a decent collection of standard and freshly rotated singles.
If I purchase online, my favorite shop is GamingEtc.com. It is an actual store that hosts a lot of major tournaments (like the mana clash) and they have a great business model that is very player friendly. And when you're on their mailing list, they send out regular offers for 10% off all singles, which makes getting all your staples from a set a lot less painful then most. Aside from starcitygames, they have the deepest stock I've ever seen in person.

I did, too.
"ooooh, buying single cards.... oops!"
Why not just buy the singles online?
You are not alone in that interpretation.
Some people just prefer to buy in person/not have to deal with shipping.

I will always firmly stand by the belief that Magic is a game first and a collectable second.
Nothing worse than getting a bowed-up foil in the mail!
