Then the judge messed up. Misdirection doesn't make it so you gain control of the spell. It changes a spell's target. If it is legal for an opponent to target the creature, then it's legal for you to misdirect, swerve or whatever it into their own thing.
Commandeer, however...
I'm actually a bit surprised that a judge blew that ruling. Misdirection on Cabal Therapy is a pretty well-known corner case scenario, and this works pretty much exactly the same way.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
I guess the only thing to do now is to redirect Lightning Bolt/Swords to Plowshares on the judge next time to send him farming.

Due to real-life obligations, I am taking a long break from Magic which may include missing the local Legacy GP. Apologies for not being able to keep my threads updated.
what exactly happens when your opponent misdirects your cabal therapy on you;I mean do you name a card or he does.I would say that you do but I'm not sure of it.thanks.
When you play any spell with a target, you select the target prior to the spell effects happening. However, the "name a nonland card" part only happens on the resolution of the spell, and the person choosing is the controller of the spell. Thus, if the opponent misdirected the spell back at you, you still are the controller so you name the card and can just name something like Storm Crow.

It's not uncommon, especially at large tournaments.
Each shop/tournament only has one judge and nine times out of ten they're level one. Only the head judge at the larger tournaments really knows.
Back against cawblade I remember being under the Gideon must attack clause and my opponent, his friend, and the judge were all convinced that tokens put into play attacking had the same restriction. Only after did I not kill his [card=jace the mindscultpor]Jace, and pass the turn does the head judge show up and say "Oh, PS you were right, but it's too late now. Enjoy losing the game!"

What's the big deal? You could have played multiple Righteous Avengers for years now.
What types of decks would want to run TNN besides merfolk?
I run a single copy in my Esperblade deck. Took out a Snapcaster Mage (still have 3). He wields equipment like a beast, but I don't think going up to 3+ copies is the right number, but that's just me. I think 2+ copies of Clique are more important in these Sneak and Show heavy tournaments.
What types of decks would want to run TNN besides merfolk?
UW/x Stoneblade was picking True-Name Nemesis up recently. So have UR Delver and Team America/BUG Thresh. I personally think it's a viable option in Shardless BUG and Rubin Cascade (but so is V. Clique, which sees basically no maindeck Shardless BUG play).
At our local fnm last night, I played shardless bug. I ran into 2 dnt decks, which I both lost to. Im pretty sure I wouldve won those matchups with nemesis instead of the agent/vision if death and taxes lists keep growin the nemesis will be the first choice for bug deck lists. Its also an advantage if you run more control instead of the visions in a heavy combo meta.
I think we got your meaning, garrison. Thanks for sharing. I have another question for you. What cards would you take out of your 75 to make room for TNN?
Sure. My main problem against dnt was that I couldnt utilize my card/draw advantage gained through the visions/agent cause my threads were rendered useless by his mother of runes, whisps and revokers. The whisps were my main problem, the strix does literally nothing against it. I couldnt apply any reliable damage other then walking unblockable land damage.
The problem got worse after they sideboarded graveyard hate against tarmos and deathrite shamans. Prob my best sideboard option has been the engineerd plague vs humans. But with the TNN + walking lands I wouldve won the damage race easily and I also would have had more control vs their control threads due to the 4 visions that would be out of the deck.
Hopefully I was able to make my point clear, english is only my second language(also mobile phone formatting).
All right, thank you, and we can definitely understand your English
I really don't get the hype for this card. It might as well just say hexproof, and a 3/1 hexproof for 3 isn't phenomenal in this format. I suppose it's pretty good against aggro being able to block anything, blank removal, and swing in when you need it to, but aggro isn't very popular these days.

Given Legacy's current aggro/midrange/tempo density, Nemesis may as well say unblockable Hexproof prevent all damage that would be dealt to it. It's awesome against an uncharged Jitte (although smart guys put Jitte on evasive stuff or weaklings), and it's currently warped Legacy enough that Stoneblade is playing SoFaI because it's the best equipment against an opposing Nemesis (can't be blocked by Nemesis, deals 4 extra damage per turn).
It gets trolled pretty often by combo, though, but at least it pitched to FoW against faster combo decks...

More like Hexproof, Unblockable, and Prevent all damage dealt to it.
(It also conveniently pitches to Force of Will, which is always a plus in Legacy. )

If your deck is 60 cards then you're playing with the best possible odds. 61? Probably won't alter your odds too much but we all know that 96% pure meth won't cut it next to Heisenberg's 99%.
That actually just slightly under double its' online going price. (Ebay generally 30, yesterday i think i saw 31 on a couple sites.)
Most definitely for the hype and scarcity- players may need it to play (whether main or side events), and it isn't exactly floating around in mass quantities right now- He only came out 2 weeks ago and only comes into supply at a certain rate because mind seizes will sell about the same rate as the rest of the decks since they are only shipped in packs of all 5.

This was a preposterously stupid card to print. First off, it seems clear that wizards did not recognize how powerful this card is.
Secondly, this is not a commander card.
Thirdly, no matter how many of the commander sets are released, the demand of this one card will skew demand so drastically towards one out of the 5 decks that there will be a surplus and shortage at the same time. With the weight of demand (4 less demand decks 1 higher demand deck), considering that the decks are printed in equal amounts, there is a market expectation of a supply shortage.
To have a high demand card in a promotional/side product is bad enough. To have it be one of the most powerful cards in legacy is just atrocious.
While I understand that wizards has few ways to release cards for legacy without releasing them to newer formats as well, commander decks are not the place for the release of a format staple.

YMTC: We need a spikey red enchantment. My creations:
RR
Whenever a player taps a nonbasic land, [Card] deals 2 damage to them.
-or-
R
Whenever a player would gain life, flip a coin. If heads, that player loses that much life instead. If tails sacrifice [card] and that player gains that life as per usual.
WoTC have an acknowledged problem with the interraction of the colour pie and protection, and I think this card's apparent popularity is going to highlight this starkly. The issue is that Black and White sweepers can deal with protection, but red can't. I feel like they need to print a red spell that's something like "XR - each player deals X damage to each of their creatures" to get around the problem (I think that works rules-wise). If something like this existed, there'd be probably-playable answers to TNN (and pro-creatures in general) in three colours which would go a long way to keeping it in check.
This is very much a commander card, unfortunately it is better in a 1v1 format. The plus side is that there are a lot of answers for it. It's more of a question of how much of a "flavour of the week" is it vs how hard will people pack answers for it.

Still not sure why they didn't just print it with something to the effect of
"If there were 3 or more players to start the game, as it comes in to play choose target player" etc

They just need an earthquake that says damage can't be prevented. That is right up their alley and for some reason doesn't exist. There isn't a single pyroclasm/earthquake type effect with "Damage can't be prevented" on it.

It'll be interesting to see how the meta shifts
I expect lots of -1/-1 effects such as golgari charms, zealous persecutions and sweepers making a comeback over spot removal. Much of this may splash hate Elves and DnT. I expect lots of Stoneblade decks with TNN as per the GP in DC.
I still don't get the hype. I never saw this as a bad card, but I still don't think it's nearly as great as people are making it out to be. It's not like you're shoving 4 of these in any deck (besides maybe merfolk, which is debatable even still). It's not a significant role player in any deck which many established decks already have, and as we've already pointed out, it's terrible against decks that aren't playing fair magic. I think it's success over the weekend was just attributed to feature matches being fair matches...there was also a serious lack of sweepers and edicts, which is unusual in most meta game, especially with the rise in popularity of BG/x decks.
Again, not saying it's bad, but it's about on par with scavenging ooze in terms of it's impact on legacy. As always, people hype things up a lot when they're new.

Who cares if it targets or not, it deals damage which TNN will prevent as it's damage from a source you control.
