Holy crap, if Trollcreature was right about Medomai, he could also be right about the Theros dual lands being a Nimbus Maze cycle and about a Swords to Plowshares enchantment.
Would also confirm Thoughtseize. Sounds like an "StP variant on Erase", rather than an "StP Enchantment" though.
Ditto on the ethnic diversity. Words cannot express how overjoyed I am to see so many awesome images of humans that aren't white men. All of the art is truly outstanding, but seeing that the ethnic slant of Theros seems to be towards darker skin tones is icing on the cake for me.

I too am loving that olive skin tone that a lot of the humans here are sporting - reminds me a bit of Bant.
I also doubt that Lanathos is a Planeswalker; even if there is more to his art that they hid to disguise its possible nature as a planeswalker, the way he sits in the composition just doesn't look like he's a 'walker. Plus, I think they'd mention it in his bio if he were.
Really amazing world-building and art (both concept and final) here.

I personally liked this too, it gives more to the flavor of the period IMHO
Also, I am personally more pumped for this than I was for Innistrad or RTR. Mostly because greek mythology, but DAT ART. :f

Thoroughly reading the Guide more minor Gods are spoken of other than Karametra, I wonder if they are going to be givem cards too on the remaining sets.
Also, I still cannot pin point the major "conflict" thats going to transpire on this set... But im having vibes that its going to be related to the outside world beyond Theros.

Lol, I didn't even catch this until you pointed it out like this......
Lanathos artwork was done by Jason Chan. Planeswalker?
but he only has done 3 planeswalkers out of roughly 63 cards done with his artwork. I personally hope he is a Herakles style PW, but I am not getting my hopes up.

Hunger Games is a fusion of the Gladiator Colosseum and Olympics which are also a clear influence on the Games devoted to Iroas. This is wizards making sure they hit all the tropes that people associate with greek mythos, not a cash grab on hunger games.

at people who think that Iroan games are a Hunger games rip-off.
You do know Olympic games were invented in Greece, right?..
While it's called the Olympic Games, many just call it the Olympics. And it could have been called something like the Iroan Contests. The word Games was unnecessary and is going to conjure up those images.
ESPECIALLY when the champion is female, AND excels with ranged weapons. Seriously, the only thing missing is that she threaten to off herself.
Edit: I should note that I didn't actually think of the Hunger Games until they started talking about this year's champion. It's specifically the champion that makes it read as a rip-off.
The mentions of the other minor gods gives me the impression that they will be associated with color pairs, as the major gods are associated with single colors. Karametra, for example, seems very GW, and Mogis sounds very BR. It makes sense to have cross-block synergy with Ravnica in that way, and we'd end up with a sizable pantheon of fifteen gods in all (probably spread out in three cycles of five across the block, if this turns out to be true).
I hope this is true, and I hope any dual-colored Planeswalkers that happen to show up don't short that pair a God (glares at Vraska, Domri, and Ral).

Whatever it is, I get the feeling that it'll be something even the gods can't solve. Or maybe a conspiracy among the gods; which is why they need the aid of an outsider - Elspeth.
Another god being the cause of whatever problems are going down in Theros might be the reason why we 'Journey Into Nyx'; where no mortal has been before; and we see some seriously messed-up stuff :P.
but he only has done 3 planeswalkers out of roughly 63 cards done with his artwork. I personally hope he is a Herakles style PW, but I am not getting my hopes up.
Seems like this block will again contain color-pairs.
Meletis seems to be W/U
(Meletis is the polis of learning, magic, and progress. It is a city-state of progressive thinkers, pious thaumaturges, and wise oracles. [...] Meletian soldiers are trained to manipulate the battlefield primarily through tactics rather than through physical strength.)
Akros seems to be W/R
(The mountain realms that surround the mighty polis of Akros serve as shield between its holdings and the rest of Theros. [...] They are known to be the most feared warriors of Theros. [...] These are the forces that are always on the move about the borders of the kingdom of Akros. They are tough and rugged warriors armed for speed, so they can move and strike without warning. )
Setessa seems to be W/G
(From a bird's-eye view, Setessa's layout resembles the rings of a tree, which radiate outward from the Temple of Karametra at its heart. [...] Setessa's outermost ring is a dense circle of trees and vegetation that functions as a natural wall against outsiders.)
So the Heroes-part of Theros always has white involved with either green, blue or red.
That leaves the Monsters-part of Theros with Black involved with the other colors excluding white. So there will probably be six color-pairs.
I really hope the Lanathos guy isn't a planeswalker. I want the DotP UG merfolk chick to be in Theros
It's not exactly an either/or situation, is it?
I wouldn't hold your breath (har har) for Kiora in Theros (set).
The fact she has a following online is probably cause to save her for one of the other two sets,
so she can "sell" it like Elspeth is here.
My totally baseless guess is Born of the Gods,
but that's just a guess.

I'd say Setessa is G/W/B. It's super specific about how they dislike outsiders, but if you're a citizen, you're part of the commune (a W/B idea, like the mob!)
As for Meletis, that could almost go W/U/R for their art, with the Red being provided by their artistry (the main Red god reigns over art too).
Since I've already added a third color to the other too, might as well add B to Akros. The Black in this case being the opposite side of W. While the W provides some training, the B represents the viciousness of the nomadic hunting and pillaging.
