Can this deck be above average in Standard? I went with the enchant theme. I've been considering Frostburn Weird and Shadow Specter but I figure the Tritons with auras and tactics are better.
think i would max out master of waves, and add the UU merfolk rare. think you can drop naiad, fate foretold, and wavecrash triton, and even emissary. look at Aqueous Form as an aura maybe? and bident of thassa, aethering?

Yeah I think I'll do:
-2 Wavecrash Triton
+2 Master of Waves
Do you think Aquaeous Form will conflict with Thassa making stuff unblockable herself?
That's not a good reason. You always run the better card.
Is it better though? The overload cost can be late game, but the Scry on Voyage's End is better early game. Cylonic Rift has the advantage of bouncing permanents but I'm unsure.
Is Prognostic Sphinx better than Aetherling? Hexproof flyer for 5 with double U seems that way. But it can't dodge Supreme Verdict.
I'm unconvinced.
Aetherling costs mana to be unkillable, and lets you block the next turn at that.
Aetherling hits harder.
Aetherling will never be blocked whereas Sphinx might be.
I think Sphinx might be playable, but you'd have to work pretty darn hard to convince me it's a better finisher than Aetherling.
I feel like dodging board wipes and blocking the next turn gives it the advantage. But scrying 3 without the need to connect, costing one less and being a flyer is nuts. Thassa can make the Sphinx unblockable, although the same could be said of Aethering, and that ability may not even be needed.

Cyclonic rift can be a sweeper and targets any permanent.
Aetherling is a game ender. Sphinx is good to set up the next couple of turns.

Alright, so drop the Voyage's End for Rifts, play Aetherling over Sphinx, and forget the Thassa's Emissay for Bestow? I was originally going for making Triton Treasure Hunter a mini draw engine and beefing him up to be a finisher in a way. 1-2 Emissaries or are the Auras sufficient as is without them? I think Tactics and Ordeal may be enough to fulfill that strategy though.
One thing about the ordeals, they work very well with creatures that give themselves counters such as cloudfin raptor. You evolve him twice, play the Ordeal on him and attack to get the two cards. Its probably not worth it with just cloudfin though, maybe in a simic deck with experiment one ect.
OK! now we're getting way off focus here! What is this decks end goal. Beat you down with an animated unblock-able thassa and or aetherling. Lets stick with that. That being said the Treasure Hunter is worthless. Best case scenario you are dropping a 1U to trigger his ability turn 3 which is not enough devotion for turn three.
4x Triton Fortune Hunter
4x Master of Waves
3x Thassa, god of the Sea
2x Aetherling OR Prognostic Sphinx
3x Voyage's End
3x Negate
2x Dissolve
1x Fate Foretold
2x Jace, Memory Adept
2x Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
21x Island

Yeah, I may have to invert their numbers. Fate Foretold is pretty impressive when it turns into 3 cards for 1U.
Is Bident of Thassa superior to Jace for draw? I figure Jace and mill cards they scry to the top.

What you're doing there with the Uncommon Heroic and the targeting cards is just not as powerful as -
4 Frostburn Weird
4 Tidebinder Mage
4 Nightveil Specter
backed up by counters, bounce, and a couple Bidents.
since you're running Thassa and Master you need a way to up your devotion.
Splashing red is also not out of the question...for Young Pyromancer and Magma Jet.
Good Luck.
