I'd really like to make a deck based off of Game of Thrones. There are creature cards for each house. The problem is finding a way to make the deck work. I'm still in the planning stages but I'm looking for ideas on how to combine the creatures into as few colors as possible without it being a deck with crap that is more of a gimmick than anything.
I want to use a dragon that doesn't contain red. I want to try to stay away from black also but I don't know if that is possible as the only dragon I can find that isn't red includes black. Again I'm still in the thought process right now so I haven't done a ton of research. What do you guys think?

When Game of Thrones + MTG comes to my mind, I think of decks without plenty of removal and no sick combos. In Game of Throne series it's all about scheming and long thoughtful games, in which planing 2-3 turns ahead has priority over auto-play cards and decks or sick permanents (or engines) + sick removal (or hate).
Actually a chess game comes closer to GoT than MTG matches as far as I consider...
The closer thing we can do is making thematic decks (regardless of which format) for each house.
As for Daenerys, there's several non-red dragons. The various white dragons would be fitting since white is the 'color of loyalty' and the dragons are loyal to the Targaryens. Not to mention that Unsullied are extremely loyal soldiers, so white seems like the main color for sure.
But I think daenerys (at least in the series) is absolutely red. Red means feelings-oriented, not stupid. She hardly plans much ahead, always trusts her guts doesn't give a damn about setting who she hates or doesn't agree with on fire (but also also really care about all close to her) and deal with most of her stuff with sheer power (not hers, of course).
As I said before. I'd try to make decks for each house . Probably the colors would be:
Stark - W/G (the screwed up nice guys) Targeryan - R (not early-game oriented, though) Greyjoy - Ux ("pay the iron price", the guys are pirates with a strange honor code, as far as i understood) Tyrrel - As far as I could understand, they are UBW. A rich and prosperous reign with highly administrative way. Dothraki - GR (that's pretty easy) Lannister - B or UB They just care about the money and controllign the other reigns with their pockets (when it comes to lannsiter characters though, their colors wouldn't be black) Baratheon - I really don't know much about these guys White Walkers - B(they are undead...)
I have the Barathian Sleeves right now actually. These were some great tips. I don't particularly stay away from black I just don't see the ramp that I assume I will need. I love Dragon Hatchling so I guess red is in. I don't care for the stag cards though. Most of them are just deer. I also appreciate the undying aspect as it's kind of a big story line push.
I planned on going mostly White & Green so adding red wouldn't be bad. I like the idea of the artifact dragon also.
Also, no one likes Jon Snow! He's boring and all they do is walk around North of the Wall. Lets be honest guys, he could be killed next and I wouldn't be all that sad.
BTW: are you building this based on the TV show timeline? I am not up to date on the show, but I have read all the novels, and Daenerys' dragons all have very different personalities and colors:
Viserion: He is white and gold (referred to as white most of the time), and he is loyal, quiet, and more empathic than the other two.
Rhaegal: Green and Bronze. He is more vicious than Viserion, but he is not really independent. He gets used as an attack-dog, and is the dragon that Daenerys keeps with her when she wants to intimidate.
Drogon: Black. He is fiercely independent and pretty vicious. He is the embodiment of untamed dragon-ness. He is only marginally loyal to Daenerys. He loves her, but will not ignore his nature. Even with all that, he is the only dragon that has been shown to share Daenerys' visions, and it probably the most intelligent of the three.

Jon Snow is awesome! He is a bit broody, but he is also the one that has had to fight for everything in his life. He is a deep character, and is really the only one that sees the horror of the winter that is to come. Tyrion likes him, and that should say right there how great a character he is.

This is based solely off of the T.V timeline. I haven't read the books. I will probably go out to buy each of these cards as singles as I don't have any of them other than Lone Wolf and Knight Watch. I'm very interested in making a workable deck that flows well and can actually win.
Not for the son, but Mommy certainly has undying. Too bad Lady Stoneheart is another card.[/card]
I actually want to make GoT-themed EDH decks. My Brotherhood without Banners one is going to be Karador.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

DUDE! That is a hell of a ****ing spoiler! You should be more clear that you are spoiling a MAJOR plot-point and that anyone who cares should not look. Just putting it in a spoiler box is not enough, IMO.

He's a Chekhov's gun. Yeah, there's a civil war going on, but irrelevant if the Others (not that one or that one or that one) come in from the North. Not saying they will, not saying they won't. But there's that; you should be aware by now that this franchise tends to conserve detail. (Well, except for certain sex parts. I seriously doubt Podrick's skill with women is going to be plot-relevant, and it wasn't even in the books.)
Also, GRRM says the Others are more like the Sidhe. All we've seen are the zombies that they create.

Yeah, I put it in spoiler tags. But it's kinda hard to make that thing vague.
Plus, it's far enough along that I think people will forget anyway. There's like four or five more major plot points in ASOS, and seasons 5 and 6 cover both AFFC and ADWD, so that particular spoiler will be years from now.
I do want to do a wildling deck with Ygritte. Why her? She's female, from Ice Age, and I need black just so I can say "You know nothing, Jon Snow."

My favorite is Daenerys followed by Aria Stark.
I wouldn't recommend basing it of the show, seeing how it's currently only 2.5 books in.
I get that most people who enjoy the show either don't have the time or patience to sit through reading all 5 books (that are currently out, who knows when the 6th book comes)
If anything I'd just take the wiki list of "main" characters without looking at spoilers too much.
Also the GoT board game has character cards, I'd give you the list but I only have the Dance with Dragons cards on my person and those are a little changed.
Might as well just list them anyways if you decide to change it later:
Stark (Now this is very loose on the Stark, since most of these are just claimants to the north)
Roose Bolton
Ramsay Bolton (The Bastard)
Black Walder Walder Frey
Steelshanks Walton
Damon Dance-For-Me
Reek
Lannister
Ser Jaime Lannister
Ser Kevan Lannister
Daven Lannister Ser Ilyn Payne
Cersei Lannister
Ser Addam Marbrand
Qyburn
Baratheon
I know you said you don't care too much about the stag but you kind of should.
Stannis Baratheon Jon Snow (Not going to bother with spoilers, even if though it is nothing major) Melisandre
Bastard of Nightsong Ser Davos Seaworth
Ser Axell Florent Mance Rayder
Greyjoy
Euron Crow's Eye
Victarion Greyjoy
Asha Greyjoy
Rodrik the Reader
Qarl the Maid
Ser Harras Harlaw Aeron Damphair
Highgarden
Mace Tyrell
Randyl Tarly
Willas Tyrell
Ser Jon Fossoway
Paxter Redwyne Queen of Thornes
Margaery Tyrell
Dorne
Doran Martell
Areo Hotah
Bastard of Godsgrace
Big Man
Ser Gerris Drinkwater
Quentyn Martell
Nymeria Sand
So that's that. I italicized the characters that are more important before Dances with Dragons and which would be sort of relevant based on the show.
The game does not have House Targaryen hence why no cards for it but aside from Danny there really is no one of mention for the point in time with the show, people will disagree with me saying this I know.
Like others suggested I'd make decks per Great House since that would provide you with enough brewing ability. There are ten houses in total but you can easily cut that down to 5 with alliances and how they acted with each other.
Here is what I would take for main characters though if you really want to make a single deck.
Stark:
Ned
Rob
Jon Snow
Arya
Sansa
Catelyn
Lannister:
Cersei
Jaime
Tyrion
Tywin
Joffrey
Baratheon:
Robert
Stannis
Renly
Melisandre
Davos
Highgarden:
Mace
Queen of Thornes
Margaery
Dorne:
Doran
The sisters
Red Viper
Others:
Mance
Sam
Danny
Khal Drogo
Littlefinger
Brienne
Varys
So you got like 28-30 creatures depending if you split the Dorne sisters up or even bother with them.
It gets too big too fast.
I might edit tomorrow with card suggestions.
Good luck

Otherwise, you'll most likely be looking at a WUG deck, if you want all of the houses.
Off the top of my head...
white or green for direwolf
blue for kraken
white for lion
green/white for stag
Quicksilver Dragon!
Erebos B | Ghost Council WB | Grimgrin UB | Jhoira UR
Jor Kadeen RW | Melek UR | Mimeoplasm GUB | Rasputin WU
Savra BG | Sisay GW | Teneb BGW | Thada Adel U | Wort BR
I draft and play EDH. If a Standard player can't understand who a card is for, it's probably for me.
I also write things about good films.
Why do you want to stay away from black?

Whoops!
Yes I meant Rob Stark. Fixed now.
What makes me feel worse is that I always fuss my friend for calling Jon Snow "James Crow". Yet, I can't even get his brother's name right.
