Sometimes I wonder why she even has those damned goggles if she never actually uses them for anything. May as well have a sweatband strapped to her forehead.
I think this Chandra just does not feel like Chandra. Red is a color of extremes and she seems neither pissed nor at one with the flame spirits or whatever. She just seems meh. Overall, I don't like the realism. Red, or magic for that matter, has never been a color known for it's realism.
Also, can we get some sexy dude planeswalkers for us man fanciers? Maybe a shirtless Garruk with like a six pack and with his mask off so we can see his face. I wonder if wizards would ever print something with nipples on it. Or maybe, like a slender Jace in a badass pose with that razor blade spiked hair of his. Or just any men characters that are somewhat sexualized. Look at the angels in Avacyn Restored for heaven's sake! Pun intended.
Went into the last round of the first flight as the only undefeated, got stuck on 2 mana twice. Get 2nd.
TO recorded my round 1 2-0 win as an 0-2 loss in the second flight, pairing me as far down as possible because of it. Mull to 4 as well as get stuck on 2 mana twice -again-, this time against the worst player in the store. Round 1 gets fixed afterwards, I end up 3-1 again and get 2nd. Again. The winner (who dodged me the entire flight) is rude to all of her opponents and opens a hydra and a scooze in her packs.

No planeswalkers (unless you're into 8ft Lou Ferrigno types), but zendikar block had more shirtless vampires than twilight, and furry fodder is all over the place.
While there's no reason for a blanket pass, magic does quite well in not being terrible. Chandra is usually fine, with firebrand being the duckfaced outlier, but she's never been as awful as an escher girl.
Wizards is a business. They want to sell products. The fact of the matter is that the majority playerbase for MTG doesn't want to see this.
Personally, I wouldn't really care. I'm more interested in enchantment, land and some instant and sorcery art. Scenes rather than objects. However, the majority of MTG players like seeing bewbs, not dudes.
She's still hot tho. (Edit: I mean Geri, not Chandra haha :P)

11:15, restate my assumptions: 1. Mathematics is the language of nature. 2. Everything around us can be represented and understood through numbers. 3. If you graph these numbers, patterns emerge. Therefore: There are patterns everywhere in nature. - Maximillian Cohen.
With the new Chandra art I thought these would be in fairly high demand. They're apparently in much higher demand that I thought; several have ended on eBay between $70 and $90.
I'm so happy that I won this mat. First Game Day mat, as well.
I wanted this thing so bad, because she looks like red-haired Scarlett Johannson, who is gorg. This art would've been so much better than the actual Chandra, the Pyromaster art...

Playmat featuring a large picture of a chick with big boobs is in high demand among MTG player? Who could imagine?

Would male players give a **** if the male characters in the game were attractive? I find it hard to believe they would be offended or even notice.

are the male characters not attractive? They all seem to be quite good looking and athletic.
Many of the male characters good-looking, but less sexualized.
For example, look at that Game Day mat. Chandra is athletic and has a nice figure, but she's also wearing freakishly skin-tight and form-fitting armor. Look at any picture of Liliana and how much skin she's showing.
Contrast: look at Jace, Architect of Thought (considering that he shows his face, this is more or less the "sexiest" of the Jaces art-wise). He's presumably fit, and I guess his face is handsome, but he's also covered in about nine layers of robes. Venser, the Sojourner and Sorin Markov are similarly covered from the neck down. Gideon Jura at least shows off some elbow, but is still covered in bulky armor rather than form-fitting chainmail. Garruk, Caller of Beasts and Koth of the Hammer are shirtless, but neither is traditionally "handsome."
Honestly they could do anything with the dude art in this game down to loincloth and I wouldnt care either way.
However as a straight male I definately appreciate and like the female art being done in the traditional fantasy manner. I do not however go out of my way to pay extra or buy something because of it.

Hey guys, so I got this mat, but there are creases in it from it shipping and the shop not straightening it out when they got it.... anyone have some safe tips on how to remove creases from these playmats?
Highlights: "Fabulous card. The earlier we introduce 13+ year olds to homosexuality the better." "I like to show my son Magic cards and try and teach him how to play. Needless to say I'm as unhappy about Mr. Gay Vamper here as I am the women running around in panties." "At first sight the art of this card has repulsed me so much I stopped caring about what the card really does." "what matters the most is how disgusting it is for many normal males." "Straight guy saying that he doesn't care for the content of the art" "The Homo Sadomasohist look is not what bothers me about the look of the card."
So...yes. Straight male Magic players will lose their **** over literally anything that makes them think the game isn't exclusively catering to their tastes.
Right, it's definitely not all straight male players, but enough of them who will whine any time women and gay men get 1/4th of the fanservice that the straight men do.
I saw someone with an Avacyn mat once, and I thought it looked, not right, but I couldn't place it. It was an altered art of Avacyn, she was only wearing a bra and panties, and like, knee high boots. It took me a while to realize it, because, well, it's the magic community, the art is already fan service.
Every Steve argyle alter I've ever seen was ****ty Liliana. And I've seen a lot of Steve Argyle alters, the man's ****ing everywhere, drawing Liliana's mid drift.
This art is disappointing to me, because it's of superb quality, almost photo-realistic, and it's a ****ty looking Chandra.
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
Is there any ongoing hatred of Chandra? She's a popular character from what I understand. The criticisms I'm seeing amount to: (A) her cards aren't tournament-playable, (B) the armor she wears in some of her depictions is impractical, and (C) her art is more sexualized than that of the male walkers. I haven't seen a huge groundswell of "Chandra sucks" going around. Personally, I like the character in general (though Jaya Ballard, Task Mage is better) but I'm not a fan of the playmat.

In all fairness, I posted this 2 months ago since it was news then. Now people are coming back to talk about it now that they're played for/won it.
Heh!
