Edit: In particular because I'm building raspbutin dreamweaver right now. Nothing like dropping la general, copying the "put 7 counters on him," removing the 7 counters for boatloads of mana, and have him still "enter" the battlefield with 7 counters.
Also all the other ETB stuff. this will be soooo sweeeeeet
Pretty sure Rasputin doesn't work.
1. The oracle text isn't worded as a triggered ability.
2. I am not sure whether you would be able to remove the first batch before the second one would be put on and he is restricted to one batch.
I'm wondering how well and with what it will see play with. It does cost 2 to activate it. Which is reasonable, it makes it more difficult to copy things like Thragtusk and the sort.
The card could have been bordeline broken if it doubled all triggered effects, but you not only have to PAY 2 for the copy but also to tap the thing ? There are to much safety guards on this card (no board position, not free, only once, only you control) for it to be interesting in any way. Loosing a slot in a deck to only sometimes get to copy something you control is lame.
At least if it could copy the opponent's triggers it could have been a decent SB card against 187 based decks.
THEY WASTED a very powerfull design idea in a damn too conservative and "secure card" !
I would have wanted :
Here, you have something that asks to be broken into two, but that is highly sensitive to removal and serves board position.
This was the most innovative card in the set so far and they neutered it !!!
why do people always want cards to be broken and simply overpowered?
Wait wait wait, so this means I could use this on an Evolve trigger, and give the counter to something else?
Mid game this would pump Biomancers for me.
Sadly this won't work. Only if the ability already has "target" in it you will be able to choose something. If the ability doesn't target, you can't manipulate it.
So is this card good for control decks? Getting two triggers from Snapcaster and Restoration Angel sounds like a sweet deal, even if it's at a price.

Aw, that's a shame...
That would've been interesting to test out.
The most I could do with this then is double up on Renegade Krasis' effect.
So going to use this with braids cabal minion, sac two for you, one for me. Or discard two off of ravenous rats. Tangle wire, smokestack... So many cards actually. Best pick up a playset
So... um... I think this is going in just about all of my EDH decks. I need 10 copies of this card now. Maybe I could get away without it in my Jaya Ballard deck, but that's it, I think. D:
You'd exile a card from the top 4, then exile a card from the next top 4. When you activate the ability of the hideaway, you'd cast one of the two spells, and you could cast the other one later by activating it again.

Rasputin only has one triggered ability, the one that adds a single dream counter at your upkeep if he was already untapped. The ability that puts 7 counters on is a replacement effect that modifies how he ETBs.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
Can't wait to play this card. The possibilities it poses seem endless. Just gotta find the good ones. My inner Timmy wants to combo this with Azor's Elocutors and Vorel of the Hull Clade. Somebody somewhere needs to win a game with the Elocutors before it rotates.

Even my Thraximundar deck -- which runs Torpor Orb and hates on ETB effects with several other cards -- would run this. It copies any trigger, not just the ETB ones.
I will sacrifice 0 permanents to Smokestack, then I'll put 2 soot counters on it. Good luck, fellas!
I'll draw 6 cards for 2 mana on my upkeep from Honden of Seeing Winds...
Double upkeep trigger from Herald of Leshrac! Extra Salvaging Station untaps! Clearing away more blockers when I swing with Thrax! And so on, et cetera.
Nice to see a card like this, the up-coming standard was looking short on infinite combos so far.
My first thought is hooking this up with Hidden Strings and Gyre Sage. With 3+ counters on Sage you should be able to rack up infinite mana and then spend it on repeatedly triggering your choice of tap effects.
Edit: Yup, seems to work. So with this plus RTR-block cards you could have a turn-4 kill under ideal conditions.
T1: Cloudfin Raptor
T2: Gyre Sage
T3: Give, Razortip Whip
T4: Strionic Resonator, Hidden Strings
Tap any flying blockers, then attack and cycle for the win.
Probably my favourite card in M14 so far. I love those cards that are terrible by themselves but can become deceptively powerful if built around.
I've had great success and lots of fun with Séance at FNMs and Gamedays, and I am definitely looking into the resonator as a potential post-rotation deck.
You could, but only if you have two spare mana after casting emrakul.. not often a thing.
So, Vizkopa Guildmage creates a static effect that results in a triggered ability right? If you activated his "whenever you gain life they lose life" deal, then played, for example, Hero's Reunion from RTR, and paid 2, you could gain 7 life, but cause 14 damage?
yes
a good card
even more as it makes new players to learn more about the game.
12 damage with ruric thar, 3 combat phases with aurelia, double blink with resto angel, 10 lives with thrag and 2 tokens...my naya midrange is going to love this!

Finally!!!!!!! I have been waiting for this card ever since Rings of Brighthearth came out. Not sure why it took as long as it did.
Obviously this card will be great for the Johnny crowd, just like Rings was. But to ANYONE expecting this to become a constructed powerhouse... it simply won't. Thragtusk and Titans are strong on their own. They don't need a narrow situational card to wring that extra bit of value out of them.
Also it must be said: this art is flat out ridiculous. This thing is as tall as the island is wide? Who built it? Where'd they get the material from? How does it stay standing up? What kind of a foundation could even fit underneath it? Do we really need a 400-foot-tall structure to achieve this small a result in the first place??? Couldn't it just be some foot-tall tuning fork on a table? And why is it secluded on its own island? How does it work from that far away? "Hey, here comes Wood Elves! Let's double his ability!" "Okay! Ring that 400-foot-tall fork across the ocean!!"

Yep. Cards that trigger off the "when you cast x, ..." can have their on cast triggers copied.

Hoping for a cure, or at least an outbreak.

Also, most of the art would be really great for a basic Island.
