Now, can someone tell me where we have confirmation that WotC is not printing a mythic sliver in M14?
We don't know for sure
We do know that WotC isn't too keen on multicolour in core sets (Nicol Bolas in M13 was the first time they did it)
I'm expecting a legendary multicolour sliver in M14 but I don't think it will be 5-colour: it would make sense for what will likely be the one multicolour card in the set to be at Mythic though
I believe the theory is, since it's unlikely that the Sliver will be a Mythic (as it seems less likely they are willing to devote 5 slots to a Mythic Sliver cycle), and it's previously been printed as a rare, they would continue it as rare.
I think it is also important to note that the other promo is called Ogre Battledriver, and that doesn't exactly sound like a mythic either.
The entire history of the Duels promos goes from-
Foil Promos of existing planeswalkers
to
Foil Promos of reprinted Titans
to
Nonfoil Promos of reprinted mythic rares
to
Foil? Promos of 1 reprinted card and 2 new cards.
At one point along this progression, WoTC changed policy on promos, and stopped giving out mythic prerelease promos. (unless they are maze's end) They likely are finally lining up these promos to that same standard.
This is the first DotP promo batch that includes new cards in it.
Core set mythics generally are going to be a baseline for what is a mythic rare.
Master of the Wild Hunt is probably the closest existing core mythic that one could compare to Ooze, but Master is several degrees stronger than Ooze in limited, and could never exist as a rare in a coreset limited format.
Ooze won't be mythic in M14.

This is reasonable, and I didn't think about it. All signs point towards rare.
On the other hand, God hates me and likes making cards that I really like at Mythic. Logic versus karma. Which shall win?
I hope not. In a creature-heavy environment such as Standard, Ooze would conceivably be better than Goyf in many situations. It would certainly also make a huge impact on Modern.
Given that it's the ultimate anti-Goyf card, I'm sure this will piss off the people who bought Modern Masters boxes for $300... And Gifts Control, Reanimator and Living End will certainly die off.
Withered Wretch and essentially every good anti-graveyard card ever printed has not managed to do this in Modern, nor has Ooze exiled Tarmogoyf from Legacy. Deathrite Shaman is omnipresent and has not upset the number of Tarmogoyfs cast. Why does a more prohibitively-costed-for-its-effect Withered Wretch automatically doom Tarmogoyf in Modern?
Standard and Modern players care. It will determine the price of the card and the difference between it being a rare or a mythic could easily be a difference of 10 to 20 dollars per copy.

worse/new (take your pick of whichever is less offensive) players are gonna be worse/new players. Once the card comes out they will have the chance to become better/older players by learning it naturally

Also, Ooze is easier to kill with lightning bolt. And for people saying dies to removal isn't an argument, go watch this past weekends GP. 4 toughness was very important a number of times, and it's the reason some people choose particular creatures.

It won't be a powerhouse but it's a very, very good creature
I could see it being too good to be a rare for limited
I think also it will be mythic.
It's a good initiative inserting cards with high demand into standard, because cards like this limit access to people in modern and legacy. They have the core set to add some necessary reprints, and some reprint slots would be used to enrich strategies on standard and even alleviate other formats, per example, having all fetch lands reprinted would be good for everyone because more people will play all formats!
One of the most expensive type of card necessary in every deck is land, and also because of other cards like tarmogoyf, some planeswalkers and so on, the game may be unreachable for new players (or a player have to focus only in one format because of money).
That would mean that according to you, more promotion editions of the card would flow through the market than the actual standard edition of the card which can be pulled from the booster. That doesnt make sense. Main supply comes from the boosters so its a pretty damn big difference if you have only 1/8 chance to pull a mythic in a pack out of x mythics, as opposed to a bigger chance for a normal rare.
Perhaps I wasn't clear, and that's my bad. I meant that the between the promo, M14, and Commander, Scavenging Ooze will have had three printings. There's going to be a whole lot of the promo. We still have a poop ton of the DotP13 promos at the store where I work. I'm not saying the promos is going to outweigh the M14 printing in terms of how many exist, I'm just saying they will be easier to get a hold of, just like it's easier to get this Serra Avatar, this Primordial Hydra, and this Vampire Nocturnus than most of their other printings (The exception to that might be the Prerelease promo Vampire Nocturnus).

That's a pain, my local store KNOWS that the supplier has a ton of them, but they aren't sending them. This was happening in October last year and to the best of my knowledge, the supplier is STILL sitting on them.

I thought these types of promo's come straight from WotC, not through distributors.
To people wondering if this card will have an impact on standard...this card is the nut high in creature mirrors. There are always some kind of graveyard shenanigans going on in the format somewhere, but "give my dude +1/+1 and gain a life" is a really powerful ability. This guy is nearly always at least a 5/5, is sometimes bigger, and gains some life.
The only reason this isn't clearly the best green 2 drop ever printed is because 'goyf exists.

5/5, gain 3 life and remove 3 cards from graveyards for 6 is very feasible. Ooze is nuts, especially with Snapcaster Mage being a real thing. Not to mention all the flashback cards available until rotation.
Something else you aren't factoring is that it can come down on turn 2, though most likely turn 3. And you don't pay all the mana at once, and you can nuke cards other than creatures just so they don't have access to them anymore.
Goyf is big, make no mistake. But the Ooze definitely will find a home in standard and modern.
Also, Ooze is easier to kill with lightning bolt. And for people saying dies to removal isn't an argument, go watch this past weekends GP. 4 toughness was very important a number of times, and it's the reason some people choose particular creatures.
Dies to removal is always an argument. Just not always a good one.
When the base body is Grizzly Bears and it has instant-speed, conditional Level Up for G, it's great.
Varolz, the Scar-Striped has similarly been impressing me in testing because of his resilient body, infinite sac outlet nature, and bizarre "Everything has conditional Level Up" ability.
I want pics. I don't know what to make of this. It desperately needs a 2nd printing because commander as the only way to grab this guy isn't enough. Throw Strix in while we are at it.

It being rare would likely decrease it's price tag moreso than if it was mythic
As far as I'm concerned I don't really care, it's just fun to speculate why it might or might not mythic
