They really just should have stuck with Allies this time around. It's pretty damn hard to mess with the Allies since the only way to go is up with them.
Did they really think they'd actually gain any fans with this new flavor of Slivers?
I'll probably be happyish about it if they stay on Shandalar.
-Lets make some really powerfull new slivers some of then that will make slivers decks in others formats become more and more powerfull lets make some of then really dumb broken
None of them are broken; none of them will see play in eternal formats.
The irony... this pretty much sums up what made Slivers a unique and fun tribe. Let the players figure out how to use the cards most effectively themselves, thanks.
Uh, yeah, sure, whatever, bro, as if any old tribal card didn't stabbed you in the back in the old days, that drawback just made tribal decks worse in the mirror match, but, if you prefer to be fragged by your own creatures without playing a suicide deck (The "fun" sliver mirror match that lasted for hours until one player ended decked...), go ahead, I won't stop you.
Things change, people, most of these "new" slivers are very close to some past versions with their abilities, so you can just ignore them and mock anybody who dares to assemble a deck with them, as many people still insist that slivers never had any potential to do something useful in any tournament or as they call it, "serious play".
like they removed the drawback of the sliver' mechanic and made some really powerfull new slivers some of the new ones are not the insue but the fact that they tried to force some to be playable is what bores me
Well, it was just as likely to be a boon as a drawback.
These slivers are NOT better or worse than the old ones, powerwise.
They're different.
I do think they're less interesting though, because some of my favorite design space for slivers was designing ones with downsides to be used against sliver decks.
<3 Plague Sliver <3
It didn't click in my brain until now, but I think the best thing that probably will come out of this release of slivers is that it's going to get a lot cheaper and easier to make a sliver Horde deck, what with 1/1 Sliver tokens coming from Hive Stirrings and the fact that Hive Stirrings is a common.
I know I'll be picking up cast-off sliver tokens from draft tables for a few months. Though, I hope the regular tokens look neater.
I'm happy to see a tribe from my early years of playing resurface as "selfish". I think the "you control" part is a whole lot better than making everyone's slivers into BoPs or uncounterable.
I'm waiting for that sliver card that says, "all Slivers gain faces, limbs and other stuff that would make them a little humanoid in form."
Well, I think at this point, we more or less know that slivers are only in RGW this time around. Hopefully, we'll get a Naya-colored legend. I really wanted another Sliver legend in WUBRG, but the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of a Naya-colored one.
Considering the fact that M13 had a Grixis-colored card and five legends, it isn't beyond the realm of possibility for us to get a Naya-colored legend.

If I remember it correctly, someone from Wizards (MaRo?) mentioned that what makes Slivers Slivers is that they effect each other and are in all five colors.
So there will be Slivers in the other colors, Naya is only featured until now because DOTP2014 has a Naya Sliver deck, which makes sense since those are the best 3 colors for a Sliver deck.
Red has 2 common, 2 uncommon and 1 rare Sliver, while white is missing a uncommon and green is missing both uncommon (if all colors get the same amount of Slivers)... could green get a nice mana dork Sliver?
I am interested in what sort of mana fixing they will provide specifically for Slivers or just general fixing for type 2. The Core Set is designed to be beginner friendly, so I hope they provide good fixing instead of making new players learn that 5 color decks with no fixing isn't viable.

Those same people told us that their iconic look and abilities affect ALL slivers, was what made slivers slivers. Tricksy Wizards with their lies and deceit.

So after Tempest, stronghold, legions, Time Spiral - Planar Chaos - Future Sight, not to mention the premium decks series... They show these things that are not even look familiar to each other? I think that simic had some slivers and set them loose around the planes.
Why not keep it simples and stay with the old mechanic and design, at least for flavour sake.
And by the way, the new ones don't look very interesting, except so far the predator one (Bonescythe Sliver) and the phyrexian one (striking sliver). Still...
So there is no 5color Sliver legend in this set? Fine.
My only hope is to find blue and black slivers in this core set.
I need a cheap deathtouch sliver.
It looks to me like they are narrowing slivers scope and making them "the combat colors" (RGW).
Theres are only the slivers shown so far because of Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014. These are te ones you'd find in random screen shots of the games and such across the net. plus with the hype of slivers, revealing a bit more of them.
So m14, still doesn't come out for quite a while. This isn't your typical spoiler season. There will probably be U and B slivers. we just won't see them untill actaul spoiler season.

Fan of Both old and new Slivers (But the new ones are still better anyway)
C Call of Emrakul - G vs R DD: Elves vs. Goblins - W vs B DD: Divine vs. Demonic - WUB Esper Artifice - RGW Aura Dancers
WUBRG Wrath of the Reaper King - WB Men of Faith - B Mercenaries - UB Phyrexian Assault 2.0 - WU Artifacts of Empires
BR Skeleton Warriors - RG Night of The Howlpack - B Bog Murderers - BR Eldrazi Assault - BGU Ulamog's Swarm
I'll tell you flat out that despite how much I hate the new slivers design I will be running 4 Predatory in my Legacy Slivers deck.
