To be fair, CNN and MSNBC are 2 of the biased new agencies reporting 24/7 news.
I give them the benefit of doubt. Like I posted earlier, the guy/gal doing the editing has to fill a time slot. He/she has to get the most for what he/she is editing. When that person was looking at the clip and had to edit it, that minute may have been the weakest minute of the clip.
I understand to others its a big deal because things can be taken out of context. I believe it should be they show the whole speech/clip or none and they are not allowed to edit in anyway. But that wouldnt make for exciting, shocking news to draw in viewers.
As Jon Stewart said, MSNBC and CNN in particular are biased towards sensationalism and laziness. Fox is biased towards sensationalism with a rigorously applied political agenda driving said sensationalism.
Side effect of the First Amendment. The federal government can't restrict what you say even if it's patently false unless you get federal funding. I'd be interested in seeing the prominent apology over here; if an apology is made by a periodical it's usually buried somewhere in the back.
Technically the "yelling fire in a theater" cases that the First Amendment don't apply likely could be applied if 24/7 news continues on this spiral they keep doing.
Some stuff they've done is only one step away from inciting action which would be enough to make it directly mirror.
Mystery45! At least 2 people have posted of other such incedences of bias specifically reported by fox news that have been blatant edits of obama's speechs. These are also clear attacks and display the misuse of media and the power they control and are very related to the topic at hand and yet you refuse to acknoledge them? Are you going to ignore this post as well? If you are going to talk about bias in the media STOP making this all about what msnbc did just now and make it about everybody! Your own Bias about who to attack for being biased is clearly showing!
I think he's just pointing out all the baddy ol' democrats for their underhanded, thieving, untrustworthy ways.
Because we all know that Democrats are what's wrong with this country. Trying to keep a woman's right to choose, trying to give women equal pay, I mean they even try to make sure african-American's voting rights are protected. Think about it, the Left is actually TRYING TO MAKE THE RICH PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE!!!!
In light of these suspicious....nay, DAMNING actions that the Left has taken, I think we should all report to Fox News for a FAIR and BALANCED condemnation of the evil Leftist movement in this country. Because if Fox News doesn't report the TRUTH, then we might see a continued rise in women's rights, minority rights, and overall equality in this great nation of ours.
And I for one WILL NOT APOLOGIZE FOR AMERICA.
Seriously. Come on, dude. Just come on now.

Fox News being at the top of the rating system means only one thing
That they are either better at hiding their obvious bias or that they are so obvious with it that everybody has grown used to it and no longer see it looking at you Mystery45

The problem in my opinion is that almost everyone here seems to "get it" with regards to FOX, but are more than willing to look the other way with MSNBC and the like which are filled with nearly as much garbage. FOX is the big evil bully in the room and MSNBC just makes so-called innocent mistakes.. just like NBC did with the Trayvon Martin case. That was just an innocent mistake, too, right?
By the way, Andrea refused to apologize for this. I guess the only thing better about MSNBC compared to FOX is that they don't make any pretense of being "fair and balanced."
I'm curious if you're trying to imply something with this?
Are you trying to say either of these:
More people watch Fox News than other News channels on TV, therefore the views of Fox News are correct.
More people watch Fox News than other News channels on TV, therefore Fox News better reflects the will of the American people.
more the latter than the former. I don't think foxnews is 100% correct there is no way for them to be.
I do however feel that they appeal to more americans. What else is there to explain the huge gap between them and all the other news networks. That gap isn't small either it is quiet large.
I was also refering to the fact that news stations that constantly produce drivel and bogus news reports are not looked kindly on. hence why CNN and MSNBC have continue to drop in ratings.
they are not minor drops either. something is turning people off to what they are producing on TV.
I find it similar to the Dan Rather report that got him and about 15 other people fired from CBS for pushing that bush paper that turned out to be false.
Just so people understand there is a difference between the News and opinionated shows like bill o' reilly, shawn hannity, nancy grace, etc...
Now to make a prediction that hopefully will be wrong Im going to predict that Mystery45 will ignore both my posts as well as the posts in between them lol

What else could it possibly be? Gee, I wonder.
I mean, if one accepts your premise as true (Fox is the only right-biased news station and everyone else is biased to the left) then people who are looking for left-biased news can go anywhere, whereas the people who want the right-biased news pretty much only have Fox.
Does Fox total viewership > all the other networks combined? Like, if it does, you've got a point here.

Ambush Krotiq makes me laugh so much. I keep rereading the card and it keeps not having Flash. In what sense is this an ambush again? I just have visions of this huge Krotiq poorly concealed in some bushes, feeling slightly sad that his carefully planned ambushes never seem to work.
MSNBC is as bad as Fox News. They are literally the left-wing version of FoxNews, and have been for awhile. Fox definitely was the first news station to act in this fashion, but MSNBC has followed up very well.
You can't actually get good news on television anymore. Which is why no one should watch the news on TV. Ever. But people do, which is just tacitly supporting these unacceptable practices.

Dont forget CNN, the Clinton News Network!
You can get good news on TV, just have to watch multiple channels to level everything off a bit.

The idea that you should have to watch every news station to get an accurate reporting of the news is ridiculous. You should be able to turn on ANY single news station and get an accurate reporting of the news.
CNN is probably the best overall, but they're still not objective enough at times.

Well, that's just the thing. They aren't interested in what's accurate, but what will get the most viewers and what they can spin for right-wing purposes. They'll make things up wholesale if they want to, or they'll report things incorrectly, because they know their audience and they know what appeals to that audience.
Also, I posted this in another thread but it's relevant here: Here's a video from the CBC that shows the Canadian perspective on Fox News, complete with a breakdown of all the un-journalistic things Fox does, the effect it has on American society, and a rather amusing take on the conservative bias present across mainstream American media. The tl;dr of it is that watching Fox News makes you dumber (they seriously say as much in those terms).
Don't see the problem here, if you have been watching news shows to get the news in the US you are over 60 or an idiot.
Fox news and msnbc are propaganda networks, sure I'm more sympathetic to liberal views atm so msnbc doesn't seem as bad to me but both misinform and shouldn't be taken as factual.

It is a statistical fact that fox news viewers are the most misinformed of any news station audience in the US. They are more likely to overact to scares (like swine flu), scandal, and believe nonsense like obama wasn't born in the US. Fox news caters to a group that want sensationalism and want to see themselves as the lone voice of reason in a liberal world. They do a good job of that.
I'm aware that it is 'all about the ratings'. My point is that the news should be a factual reporting of events. Ratings should never, ever come into the picture. And it's not just FOX News. Yes, they are the worst offender(though MSNBC really is close these days), but other news stations are also guilty of it.

That video exposes quite a bit about the liberal media bias, too. Why didn't you mention that?
so where does Jon Stewart, his daily show, and his semi mentally challenged cousin stephen colbert fit into all this--- news for ratings?, miss factualized and represented stories, and made up headlines?
are they held accountable for doing the same thing that msnbc did?
(p.s. I know, but i don't know if you know, that they are officially not real news reporters or casters.)

The real world has a liberal bias. Hate to break it too you.
I think it is because overall fox news lies through their teeth to push their agenda. MSNBC does to, but cnn, bbc, and other news sources that critique fox do so because its not a news network and hasn't been for ages. Its propaganda passed off as news.
