That was pretty bad, but just how bad was it? You have to transcend the likes of terrible yet somehow popular works like "We Are Family," or some of the Bee Gees or KC and the Sunshine Band. For me, when you really get into the worst of the worst the reigning champ is Jan Terri's "Losing You," and I'm not sure how it matches up with "Friday." (For background, Jan Terri was a limo driver who would send these videos around trying to get picked up as a singer; she really felt she could have a career ahead of her.) The subject matter of "Friday" is even less emotional, true, but at least the singing isn't... entirely drab. The use of autotune is horrendous, of course, but I don't think Jan had access to it - and it honestly may have been an improvement if she had. I'm... not sure. I get the impression my brain would really prefer doing something else at the moment...

My anecdotal evidence disagrees with yours! EXPLAIN THAT!
I laughed pretty hard when I first heard this elsewhere and was left really confused by the end. Definitely gone viral for all the wrong reasons, too.
Easily the worst song I've heard. The closest description I can align this to is that it's as nauseating as someone driving a nail into your head while constantly pouring vinegar over the wound, yet somehow amusing.
Ugh. Autotune is the downfall of the music industry. (though I think her voice sounding like that is not ENTIRELY due to autotune) I think I shall go lock myself in my room and listen to some Maria Callas to cleanse my musical palate.
The technique has been around for a long long time, but only recently has began being used to I would say "over-auto tuning" someones voice.
We've had various ways of manipulating ones vocals since the early 70s.
You guys just don't understand Rebecca Black, m8s.

The Sage is occupied with the unspoken
and acts without effort.
Teaching without verbosity,
producing without possessing,
creating without regard to result,
claiming nothing,
the Sage has nothing to lose.
This is the first song that's gone "viral" that actually reminds me of a virus. Like the monkey in Outbreak, it must be stopped.

I watched the video again with my wife to show it to her, and I'm now officially creeped out by her blank expression. It's like she literally sold her soul for this song.
OP has obviously never been intrigued by the same mystery that magnets hold for the miracle loving rap superstars ICP.
C'mon, Miracles is actually listenable. And the SNL parody is hilarious (Where is Alaska? Who is Brazil?... why do some mountains look like presidents?... A$$ Dan's kids look just like A$$ Dan, and my kids look like A$$ Dan too!) It's all about innocence and how some people would rather believe in childlike stories than in science to remember the good old days (remember, as Pokemon says, "there is nothing more beautiful and terrifying than innocence".)
So yeah, Friday is pretty innocent. Have you noticed how happy the rapper (BI, is it?) looks? It's like he's even more oblivious than Rebecca Black about how big they are (which is actually a lot, currently). The countless memes they make from the song are hilarious. Surely anything that makes us laugh this hard can't be a bad thing (it is actually funny. We we we we so excited to get a seizure). FUN FUN FUN FUN!
This will be a meme within the week, if it isn't already.
Actually, it memed two days ago.
Someone sent it to my brother on Saturday (THE DAY THAT COMES AFTER FRIDAY). It had 260,000 views. Now it has 10.7 million. Half the people that watch it actually like it, and the other half are righteously appalled.
This will be the best song of this decade. Period.

To post on this forum you must...
1. Have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
2. Stubbornly argue for at least 1 page of posts.
3. Regurgitate things you read on Starcitygames or Channelfireball.
4. Hate all netdeckers
5. Claim your 2nd place FNM deck broke the format and Delver is not even that good.
6. Tell everybody that MBC is coming back every time a new black card is released.

It's merely a J Biebs marketing ploy to make people have a better opinion of him.
Nonetheless, thank you, Becca, for making it perfectly clear that when today is Friday, yesterday was Thursday and tomorrow is Saturday. AND TO TOP IT OFF, the day after is Sunday. WEEE
Well, I've heard some terrible music and I have to say, that definitely competes. I still hate this one myself: Banana Song
Now, given I'm fond of some heavy rock and metal, but this is not only pathetic-simple, but catchy so you cannot get it out of your head!
That song made me laugh uncontrollably until tears came from my eyes. I'm not entirely sure why, it wasn't particularly funny.
OP: She's just a kid. I don't count that as a legitimate song. Christ i'm 20 and the poor thing sings better than I do. Sure, compared to legitimate music it's garbage, but that's not it at all. If we're talking real stuff, I think Pacman Fever takes the cake. Heard it on a local radio station playing the worst 10 flops of the 80's. Enjoy.

And you, too, are one of us, and yet you are not. In your words I hear anger, hatred. I see a darkness that is not cold and lifeless, but is alive and moving, like a living entity. I feel caged, trapped, a yearning for escape. --Death Gate Cycle Volume 3: Fire Sea

Miracles was listenable in the sense that it was what we gained from it that made it bearable. And yes, that SNL parody was amazing. Absolutely, positively, everything a parody of that song needed to be.
"And blankets....HOW DO THEY WORK?"
Consider the fact that ICP used it as a giant marketing ploy, and I can almost tip my hat to them. They're capitalizing on the fact that they're the worst band in the world, and speaking as one of the (formerly) most hated men in MTG Podcasting, I see what they're doing. So yeah, I guess miracles was okay.
But Rebecca Black's magnum opus isn't even as good as "miracles". And that's saying quite a bit. Yet, if we hold it by the same measure, we see that regardless of what's said in this thread and elsewhere, Black will achieve a sense of immortality and fame the likes of which we'll never achieve.
Oh, lawl. Internet, you so crazy.

I know that guy actually, he lives near by.
He is kind of like his music: simple, dumb, and makes you wan to hit him when listening.
I don't count Dutch music, it will never be main stream.

Dutch music, is music in the Dutch language.
Golden Earing is English music , but from Holland.
