4.20 here. my dad owns gas stations, exxon has sent e-mails saying don't be surprised if the gas prices go up to between 7-9 dollars by november for the election, and then depending on the results it may or may not go down.
That's awesome. Mass transit and research for an alternative source of energy should get a boost from the high prices. It'll finally be profitable to go another route.
its just a bubble, i dont know how many times i have to say it. although until it bursts, were going to get screwed.
crotch rocket ftw, 80 mpg
what kind? My husband has a BMW K-series 1986 650cc with all original fixtures and engine rollbars. He went from Toronto to Rockville MD on about $40-50 worth of gas last year.

Last year was last year. Nowadays, gas skyrockets! Gas costs $4.60 now in Cali. It costed only $3.25 last year. Your argument no longer makes sense in the current market environment.
Right now gas prices here in the suburbs of LA are hovering around $4.50. It has officially convinced me not to buy a car. I expect gas can leap to $5 before the end of the summer... $8 gas is just around the bend. It's neither worth it to buy the car or pay for the gas anymore.
Man... in socal its about $4.50 a gallon. I'm getting about 25 mpg in my scion XB. I'm pretty happy with it. I drive about 35 miles round trip from work and back so I end up filling up about once a week, not terrible but not the greatest.
Nothing annoys me more than Americans grousing over paying $4 a gallon for petrol. In the UK, current prices are around £1.15 a litre - which, for the mathematically disinclined among you, is something in the region of ten bucks a gallon.
I must agree. I've heard a lot on the news about Americans who have complained about the petrol price, and I didn't think too much about it, as that's what Norwegians do as well. Turned out, though, Americans complain about paying around 35% of what we do in the oil nation Norway! The litre price in Norway is around $2.75.

A radio Station in our area is giving away 10 gallons every week to the first 50 people. We camped out around 12:20am, were 2nd in line. They had 50 people there by 3.

what you guys in europe have to remember, too, is that we were always paying less for gas (likely largely due to differences in governmental tax structures), and that our gas has proportionally gone up as much as yours has over similar time periods. overall, it's not your gas which should have been lower - ours should have been higher. we'd NEVER have seen mass production of vehicles that get less than 20 mpg, let alone all the SUV's and hummers.
we complain about everything

everyone complains about everything. 'tis human nature... anyway, your argument about the money actually makes it worse for them (in any case, they gave you values in USD...).
I hope the western world will finally invest more in search for alternative energies, because it's really needed now.
agreed. instead of spending the next ten years drilling for oil, we should spend it developing better technologies. it's too bad for the world that we've allowed corporations to dictate the direction of our technological efforts towards what makes them the most money. we must get over greed and selfishness if we plan on allowing the human species to thrive into the future.
on topic (finally) - here in my area in brooklyn, NYC... $4.37/gal. highest so far. my area is usually in the cheaper half of gas prices i see around the city, fortunately.

Gas in the Edgewater/NSB area is about 4.03-4.05. In Alabama I found gas was was about 3.85 on average in the area, with 3.82 not being uncommon, and 3.79 even being found once.

Southern WI and we have still managed $3.94 right now.
Strangely enough, these gas prices haven't hurt _that_ bad for me so far. I bike almost everywhere that I need to go, the main exception being when I go to umpire baseball games and drive 20-30 minutes to games. When I think that we're compensated ~$40-$50, and I need to fill a 10-gallon tank every 2 weeks, it doesn't hurt too bad to spend $35 every 2 weeks.
I know many people have it worse than me in the need to drive, but I'll take my luck where I can

Wow. In CT it's something like $4.50 a gallon, among the highest in the country. I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever be practical for me to drive.

It really sucks.
Why don’t you take the test?
it's around $4. give or take 20cents. I'm still driving my same car since the last time i posted. Heh, back in the 3.25 range wasn't it? lolz.
I'm getting 24mpg (kinda 1/2 city and 1/2 highway mileage when i drive to work each day) from a '95 chevy z26 beretta. (V6 engine)
now imagine if i was driving a 4banger. (4 cylinder for you non-rednecks) that would probably hit close to 30mpg.
My boyfriend always looks at me funny when I say "4-banger".
Seriously, the next car I get is gonna be a 4banger. I want a smaller car, both in physical size and in engine size.
Though for something on the older side, that's pretty good. My '97 chevy lumina gets about 22mpg (combining freeway and city driving).
I know it seems that I don't care,
but something in me does I swear.

4 dollars happened this month IIRC. I hadn't seen 3.80 or lower in awhile myself. Got a picture of it just as proof.
