Major Alexi Kopalov sits down at his desk as the sunrise begins to ooze in around the window shades. He sifts through the morning reports with mundane familiarity, sipping his tea deliberately. By the time he reaches the bottom of the paper stack, he considers topping the tea off from the bottle of Youri Dolgoruki in the top drawer. He thinks better of it and instead begins opening the day’s correspondence. A plain, white envelope catches his eye as he shuffles. The typed address simply reads:
Major Alexi Kopalov
Ministry for State Security Moscow, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics

Welcome to Clue mafia!
This is a mini game for 12 players. Below are special rules and information about this game followed by more general mafia rules. Please read them.
1. This game features a flavor gimmick. Every ability in the game has an associated screenshot from the film. Screenshots are flavorfully related to their ability, some more obviously than others. However, players are not told which screenshot matches their ability. The posting of screenshots is intentionally ambiguous and is supposed to be flavorful fun; don’t think of it as a puzzle I’ve set for you to solve and instead as a fun bit of mayhem. If you can glean game-relevant info out of it then the more power to you, but if an attempt is made to abuse the mechanic in order to break the game I will simply stop posting them, and probably become irritable.
2. Every ability in the game has the following characteristics:
Repeatable; or 1-shot
Day; Night; or Both
Information; Roleblocking; Protection; Killing; or Whammy!
1-shot abilities may only be used once during the game. Repeatable abilities may be used every day/night period.
Day abilities may only be activated after day has started and before the lynching vote has been cast. Night abilities may only be activated during the night period. “Both” abilities may be activated at any time, and if I receive the PM at an ambiguous time I will resolve it according to my discretion.
Each ability has an associated category; some have more than one associated category. The main relevance of these categories is that players may not use an ability of the same category during consecutive periods. i.e., you may use an ability during the day and during the following night, but only if they are in different categories. Information abilities are anything having to do with the mod-provided game information to a player, or anything interfering with mod-provided information (cop, watcher, tracker, godfather). Roleblocking abilities prevent a player from using their abilities according to their own choices (roleblocker, redirector, jailer). Killing abilities directly result in the death of a player (vig, bomb, poisoner, mafia kill). Protection abilities specifically stop killing abilities (doc, jailer, bulletproof). Whammy! abilities are anything that do not fall into the other categories.
I apologize in advance if the category element is cumbersome or confusing. It was the best solution I could think of to allow multiple day and night abilities to stay reasonably balanced.
3. An Important Note: Because the flavor of this game is so heavily tied to the movie, I feel it would be unfairly misleading if I did not make it explicit that role names are not restricted to characters who appeared in the movie.
Like most mods I hate chronic lurking, yadda yadda. Unlike most mods, though, I am more liberal about modkilling for it. If at any point I suspect you are replacing as a way to avoid being lynched, you will be modkilled. If I feel you've lurked to the point where modkilling you is better for the overall health of the game, I will do it.
If you have a night action but wish not to use it, please tell me so; don’t just let the deadline expire. I like nights to be as short as possible.
Whenever you PM me with an action, please indicate the game name and the day or night number in your subject line. This will be immensely helpful to me for keeping the game organized and mistake-free, so it's less of a "rule" and more of a "do this if you want a better game" agreement. If you are only asking a question or making a comment, using this format is not as necessary but is still helpful.
As is the general forum policy, do not propose a mass crypto-claim or any claims intended to function like crypto-claiming. But don't live in fear over whether a soft claim proposal is too close to cryptoing; if it is, I will tell you. If I don't say cut it out, then you're fine. No one will be modkilled over this without warning.
If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. If I don’t receive your choice, nothing will happen. If you wish to not use a night action, please tell me so; don’t just let the deadline expire. I like nights to be as short as possible.
Lynching will require a simple majority of votes. Once a lynch threshold has been reached nothing can undo it. You may continue to post until night.
You may Vote: No Lynch
If a deadline is reached with no majority, the day will end without a lynch. Deadlines will be set at moderator discretion.
Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. Stop typing. A simple “Bah” post containing no relevant information is acceptable.
Golden Rules (i.e., the things that apply to every game of mafia.)
Do not discuss this game outside the thread with anyone. Not your friends, not your mother, not another forum member who isn’t playing, not a dead player, not a living player while you’re dead. No one. The only exceptions are me and whatever is instructed in your role PM. This applies to any game in progress; don’t talk about other running games in this one, even if you aren’t playing in that one.
Do not quote any PMs from me, nor paraphrase too closely, lest I smite you.
Do not edit or delete your posts, lest I smite you.
Obey the Forum Rules. This especially includes flaming. Play nice, kids. The only exception being you may double post if necessary, but please make an effort to respond to things in one post. Use the multiquote button or copy/paste.
Do not lurk, lest I smite you. You must maintain a reasonable level of active participation in the game. We understand that life gets in the way of mafia. However, please respect the other players and I by keeping us informed. If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 72-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread or PM the mod. If you feel unable to continue to play the game at the commitment level expected, request to be replaced. Do not simply vanish, unless under life-threatening peril. If at any point I suspect you are replacing as a way to avoid being lynched, you will be modkilled.
Make your votes in bold. If you do not bold your vote, it may not be counted. Please be attentive and unvote (in bold), if necessary, before casting a new vote. If you do not unvote first, your new vote may not be counted.
Ask the moderator, me, if you are unsure about anything. If you post a request of the moderator in the thread, please bold it.
Have fun! Otherwise, why play?

DRey (r. ZasZ234) , Mrs. White, Mafia Roleblocker Godfather. Lynched day 1.
Seppel , Sgt. Grey, Mafia Misinformation Specialist. Lynched day 2.
Role PMs have been sent out. Please confirm via PM. Feel free to ask any questions, point out mistakes, etc. Sorry the formatting is a bit dry
One thing worth clarifying: you may still only use one ability each day or night, regardless of category. You may not use multiple abilities in the same day or night, unless specified otherwise in your role PM. Abilities are activated by PMing me, like they normally would, unless the ability specifically says to do otherwise.
The lights flick back on and he is dead. A small wave of relief washes over you, but is quickly replaced by the crashing realization that it’s not just your reputation or finances at stake anymore, it’s your very life! You each take turns eyeing the corpse, then eyeing each other. You all had the opportunity, you all had a weapon, and you all had a motive. And any one of you could be next. Whether you make it out of this mansion alive or not depends on finding the killer or killers before they strike again.
As is fitting, you ceremoniously place a little Santa hat on his head before returning to the study.
The game is afoot!
It is now Day 1.
With 12 alive it's 7 to lynch.

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.

Az usually isn't serious, even when he is serious.
I don't think I could have phrased it better.
I believe Az himself once stated that he has two types of initiatives: the "poke" and the "crusade." One's fishing for reactions and the other's for getting people lynched. You could probably guess which type this is
I think Az might have preferred less talk about his play style here and more people that aren't aware of it be able to chime in - get a chance to react.
Well, *I* might.
Bad veterans! *rolls newspaper*
Well he chose a bad person to fling a vote at if that was his intention.

Cons:
* I know Azrael's MOs. He's almost useless to alignment-hunt in the early game because he always does the same three or four openers.
* Worthless on me because if I were scum I could easily fool him.
Pros:
* Get reactions of other people.
* I'm probably the most "valuable" person for him to alignment hunt. Azrael really likes me so if he can figure out that I'm town then we can become a powerful force, provided he is town, which goes full circle because if this isn't the reason he voted me then I would like to know more.
