I'd like to get on the list for hosting a mini, if you please.

Lies! -I'm Buffy Summers, town tracker. I used my ability on you and saw that you didn't use any abilities before the game started. My flavor is I was sucked through a mysterious space-time portal and I'm here to kill all the vampires, and my tracking ability is a combination of my Slayer and Native American skills.
I'd like to try my hand at hosting a Basic. My mafia experience is all from this site, and available in my Shed-o-Matic. I have some flavor ideas, but would like some direction as to how much variation on the basic setups still constitutes a "basic".
How long can I expect to wait to get to host a basic?
Normally I would just PM people until I found someone that would want to review a game of mine, but given the what I am looking for in a reviewer for this game I am doing, I would prefer to have someone step forward who feels they fit the following criteria and have a drive to review my game.
Given the nature of the game I am creating I would like a reviewer who believe they can fill the following criteria:
-Does not have a problem with complexity... or insanity.
-Has an attention to detail.
-Willing to go that extra mile and really provide personal input and other ideas, and not just tell where things need to be fixed (though you need to do that too :sneaky:).
-Be willing to go for perfection and spend however long it takes to get it to a point where the game is good to go.
-Being insane is a plus.
-Not afraid of calling me bat**** crazy.
-Basically you would be something like an assistant designer instead of just the reviewer.
-Have run a game on Sally or someplace else.
-Have previously reviewed games.
Thanks
Guardman
Edit: Found someone
Edit 2: I would like to be added to the mini hosting list.
I don't know if nom is town or scum. But I'd like to point out this type of behavior is his standard modus operandi.
Court Mafia: Day 1, hatch plan to KILL EVERYONE ELSE IN A SINGLE NIGHT, when the plan only allows him to hit 11 random players, ATTEMPTS TO FIRE ANYHOW (Roleblocked).
In other words....Nom is an impulsive player who doesn't think about planning long-term or listening to others. I wouldn't be surprised if he was town. At all.
Do people mind waiting until about the 20th for me to get back home and open signups? I don't mind being bumped a spot again if we'd rather get going quicker. I could also open signups before I get back if we want, I probably only need to be back for the actual PMs to go out (I know how many spots there are- same as last time I did signups for this game!)

Sure. I have no problem waiting. Xyre's game is starting up, so it is probably for the best anyways since it is best to slightly stagger these things.

No , I wants my mafias :argh::mad1:!!
Considering that you've already been bumped once, I'm fine with waiting until you're ready to put them up.
seeing as I'm next on the normal list and axel's game looks like it's nearing the end, I guess I should make sure we're ready for my game. Arim, can you PM me what we talked about if you still have stuff we discussed?
I still have some of the basic notes somewhere, but if you remember the PM's we excahnged that would help a lot.

I'm wondering if users can donate their place in the hosting queue.
Clem (formerly Clem da Squiggoth) has expressed interest in giving me his place in the Normal queue, position 13.
FWIW, I have the setup complete and will have it reviewed once I have secured a place in the queue.

I'd say no. If clem doesn't want his spot, he can bow out and the next guy in order will move up. But you can't sub-out.

I love Joboman, Poggy, Niv, and Vezok, because, while they may not be the best players, they still try to win. Having fun is the most important thing to a game, but I've learned that if you don't try to win, then you're ruining everyone else's fun.
Well, speaking for myself, it's pretty painful to wait two years in the specialty queue to have someone who hasn't been waiting at all jump in front, especially when it's something we can't even compete for(unlike the FTQ, where everyone has a chance).

Mafia-specific matters aside, queue etiquette in general tends to frown on saving or trading spots. If Person A is third in a line of ten, and decides he doesn't want his spot anymore, it's his prerogative if he wants to leave and let everyone else move up a spot. Just because Person B happens to be his buddy, though, doesn't really give him the right to cut into line in front of seven other people.

I agree with Azrael on this one.
Fair enough, social precedent being what it is.
Put me down for a Normal. I've played in about seven games on MTGS, and am currently hosting a Clan Mini.
Oh, BTW, you can probabally kill that hold you have on me. I have a setup from a long time ago that i believe was reviewed by Az (can't entirely remember)
Yo, I'm running a Poll for what my next game should be down in the Testing Grounds. Link is HERE.
I was going to wait until my current game was finished, but I just found out that the Testing Grounds is closing down on 2-27-10, so I thought I'd try to get it in while the getting's good.

Ambush Krotiq makes me laugh so much. I keep rereading the card and it keeps not having Flash. In what sense is this an ambush again? I just have visions of this huge Krotiq poorly concealed in some bushes, feeling slightly sad that his carefully planned ambushes never seem to work.

Hosting Limit - A player may not sign up for more than one normal, mini, or specialty game at a time. Players may sign up to host one additional FTQ or one additional newb/basic basic game.
Before signing up to host, you should complete playing in at least two online games, with another in progress or finished.
Yeah, looks like Jordman only has SoT completed; don't worry, though.
It's not like the specialty list is going anywhere quickly. (Chances are I'll be in grad school by the time I get to host one game, excepting for the FTQ)

Speaking of the FTQ, is there a way to bring up a list of past FT-games to see what kind of designs have won in the past? I recall loran's Ghost Town Mafia, but I wasn't paying enough attention to know of any others.
I just saw that we're allowed to sign up for a Basic in additional to another game. Put me down to host a Basic, too, please.
To sign up to Host a special game, you must:
1. Have a game setup finished or near finished.
2. Submit the setup to a council member for review/balancing.
3. Have participated in three complete games on MTGSalvation.
Previous FTQ winners were Xyre's Fiasco Corporation, Stormblind's Britannia Rebellion, Kraj's Tales of the Fantastic, and loran16's Ghost Town.
Now please, if there is more discussion to be had put it in the discussion thread.

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
I have signed up to host a Basic. I would also like to be added to the list to host a Normal. By the time the normal rolls around, I should be long done with the basic, I would think. Thanks.
EDIT: I'd love to host a Specialty sometime, and I've got some good ideas, but for clarification: To host a specialty, do you have to have PLAYED in three games, or HOSTED three games?
We live in a country were ~50% of the populace believe public schooling is a socialist conspiracy and that being called Einstein is an insult. We could try and fix it, but unfortunately the other 50% don't believe in euthanasia.

If there are enough players wanting to get in, we can gauge whether it's time to implement the new queue that we've been discussing.
