I would say if this happens the game isn't worth playing.
I know! I want to say that there's absolutely, positively no way any reviewer would approve a game with a Jester that, if lynched, ends the game, but is that the case?
Also, does anyone know if what Tilde said is true? Has dC stated before that he despises Jesters? Because if so, I concur that he probably didn't include one.
But, then again, Bastard ModGod is bastard. Ugh, drowning in WIFOM!
I have an idea for a soft claim. How about a "Does your role give you any idea of why this is a bastard mod game?" claim?
This has the fundamental problem of being subjective, as well as possibly revealing too much information. But I'd go along with it if we got a majority in favor.
Raf, you're wanting to lynch Vez for being an alignment switcher? *frowns*
That seems...unnecessary at this juncture. And risky.
I'd much prefer to safely ignore Vez, and whatever conceivable shenanigans might be afoot, and hunt down some genuine scum here.
I don't anticipate DC throwing jesters in here (too played out, stupid, and unoriginal), but who knows what kind of evil is actually going on. And if vez truly is an alignment shifter, the time's not right to deal with him. Mafia are priority #1.
I'd much prefer to safely ignore Vez, and whatever conceivable shenanigans might be afoot, and hunt down some genuine scum here.
You don't think he should be vigged? Without drawing conclusions regarding how bastardy this game is, by the endgame vezokpiraka will likely be mafia if left alone by the town. I think the sooner he dies, the better.
Ced, if you have pertinent information that you feel should be shared now rather than later, then I approve you sharing it. Since I do not know your information, I cannot make a decision on that and leave it up to you.
I don't think that anybody (except possibly me) should take part in this softclaim.
Ok, let's make it simple:
To stop any of this unilateral claiming of possibly dangerous info, who wants me to claim some stuff and who doesn't? Majority decides.
Seeing as we have no idea about what it is you would be claiming, wouldn't you be in a better position to say if it's a good idea or not?

Sorry, haha.
Any idea when you'll be able to participate on a more active level?
I plan to read the entire thread over today, and if I don't complete it by early tomorrow, that day will be included, too. But, ideally, I'll be able to have an analysis out by mid-day tomorrow.
What term? If it's something Vez said, I don't see that.
Jester. I've heard it a lot here, but never actually played in a Mafia with one.
A Jester is a role that wins when it is lynched. They are frowned upon on this site, but since this is a bastard game, there's a lot of speculation that we could have one in the setup.

I disagree. Vez has already stated that he has no intention of helping us. I'm certainly thrown off by his change in playstyle (being suicidal instead of trying to last until the end), but I don't think letting him go on is the way. Remember:
Ig you don't lynch me today I will not provide results form my abilities.
Also if you wait until the mafia recruit me I will start outing your powers if they are good enough.

I'm still working on that post I mentioned last night, and I really really hope to have it done within the next 2 hours (I work slow). But, i just wanted to point out this post. What the flying hell. I can't even begin to comprehend this, because I know of vezoks horrendous record as town doing scummy things, but this is horrendously scummy with the complete absence of reason, and a sense of deflection, even though he just claimed that he wants to die, or else he'll give the scum investigation results. It doesn't make any flipping sense and although I know that there's a 0.001% chance that a jester was put into this game... I just don't understand. If he didn't claim I'd say he really needs to be vigged or otherwise verified, but with his claim there's a huge steaming pile of WIFOM that I can't comprehend.
You don't think he should be vigged? Without drawing conclusions regarding how bastardy this game is, by the endgame vezokpiraka will likely be mafia if left alone by the town. I think the sooner he dies, the better.
If a player in a bastard game genuninely wants to be killed, you don't kill them unless you trust them.
I don't trust Vez. At all. Do you?
He doesn't have to be a jester, for it to be dangerous for us to lynch him. I'd prefer not to deal with that particular landmine until we've had more of a chance to figure out what we're dealing with.
I disagree. Vez has already stated that he has no intention of helping us. I'm certainly thrown off by his change in playstyle (being suicidal instead of trying to last until the end), but I don't think letting him go on is the way. Remember:
He's making threats and trying to twist the town's arm. That doesn't give me warm and fuzzy feelings about giving him whatever he wants.
If he wants to die, he'll need to prove we can trust him enough to kill him.
Does he want to die, or does he want us to think that he wants to die so that we won't make him...die? For him to actually want to die, he would need to:
-Have a roll that would make him win if he were to be lynched.
-Have a roll that would make his alignment change when targeted or lynched.
-Have a roll that would be like a one-for-one -- kill the player who lynched him.
-Have a roll that would reveal information to fellow Scum/Mafia if he were lynched.
Basically, he would need to have a reason to want to be killed. And, by the way, that was a lot of "have a roll that would".
um... guys I think vez just outed himself. Especially with what ced just said.
I think what he meant by that was that if the town killed the traitor recruiter, he could go back to his normal townie playstyle.
Which, apparently, includes thinking that the town is so much more likely to win than the mafia, in a bastard game no less, that he wanted to get himself lynched solely to avoid switching alignments. *shakes head*
What a self-interested and silly thing to try to do. *frown*
It's ok, I've found what I was looking for.
Not so bothered about your "slip". Could have been just that - an honest mistake.
But the cause of the mistake is important. It was because you instinctively thought of "confusion" as having bad connotations. Makes me quite certain that 393 was a lie.
Agreed; I think the implication of its use regarding Azrael was not with a positive connotation the first time around; certainly not something that would make him change his mind about him.

So it looks like the bastard mechanic of the game is the potential number of traitors. /frown
I vote "no" to the most recent proposed softclaim based on this information. That's a gut reaction, but it feels like the right one, though.
Still not liking Manders, either. She's going over-and-above her usual townie routine and pointing out her own self-meta. Also, she calls out ~V~ for fence-sitting and later in the same post admits to fence sitting with a "sue me" for good measure. Not impressed; it all feels more forced than my other interaction with her (where she was town).
I will be out of town Friday-Sunday and not posting during that time.
Ok. What exactly do you think vezok is, then? His initial post makes me think that he knows as much about traitors as I do, and he wants to be lynched, so...?
Dunno. I just have no idea why it suddenly turned into a traitor-cult thing with him.
MandersHex- Seems to have put herself out there in the open a lot. I don't liek the tone of some of her questions, but it seems a foolish thing for scum to become so involved like that. I'm not putting on the blinders though...
iBug- Made some really wierd and scummy posts, but has had, I think, a reasonable defense for himself. Another one to watch, and I think I must re-read his latest posts to update this read.
Vezok- Not so much neutral as in what the hell. I absolutely do not trust him, but discarding roles I would want him dead for his latest vote, and behavior regarding the wagons.
AsianInvasion- Originally leaning scum, I think that was because of my own prejudice of a previous game lingering in there -_- and his attitude, which I have seen in too many games to think it's scummy. I don't have tome in the near future to skim posts in his blog, but I'll be sure to get to it sometime. One thing I didn't like that you did AI was make those statements like 'If X is town than Y is scum,' 'there is at least N scum within the group of X, Y, and Z,' and so forth. But I know you did that as town previously, so
Nom_Anor- He's moved from neutral to leaning scum. It makes no sense to claim cop as town there, but neither does it as scum. The only reasonable explanation is either he's throwing out a 'safe' claim early to dispel suspicion of him. But, others have noted that he tends to be really impulsive and kind of... crazy, so I'll temper my own read here in light of that.
Azrael- Would be neutral or leaning town, but I don't like some of the ways he clung onto iBug in the face of defenses, where he made concessions but didn't change his own views (as far as I could tell from the text)
Some One- Jumps into the game with a contentless post and a barn, hopping onto the popular wagon with little reasoning, and none of his own. He had a real chest-bump attitude, like 'yeah you guys are awesome, and I agree with you, let's kill this scum!'
Agreed; I think the implication of its use regarding Azrael was not with a positive connotation the first time around; certainly not something that would make him change his mind about him.
