How did you reach the conclusion that confusion was an ok thing to spread for a townie?
I didn't. I eventually realized it was a fancy FoS. At that point it looked fine to me, until then it looked scummy.
Quote from ced »
So, even though you were voting for him, you accepted, without any qualms, the fact that he apparently had a multivote? Even though he'd already faked one in 120?
Yes. As I explained during that previous post. Post 120 was not present in my mind at that time. Also, that was pregame, so there wasn't really any reason for me to believe he wasn't just messing around at the time.
Not counted any of Az' hydravotes, as I have no idea what they mean, if anything.
Quote from ced »
I'm confused. You say that Zchinque's comment made you think that maybe Az's hydravote wasn't the real thing, then immediately started wondering what in-game effect it had afterwards?
After Zchinque questioned it I wondered if it had an in-game effect or if he was just messing with people. It hadn't yet occurred to me that it was just his FoS, because he had used the word vote in it.
Quote from ced »
Also, could you point me to where you answer my question about your query following Zchinque's votecount? I can't see the answer.
That post was my thought process on the matter. I asked how often they appeared because I wanted more info to decide whether it was an ability he was faking, as the meaning seemed clear: it looked like a multi-vote to me.
Quote from ced »
Like I said before, were you aware of 120?
No. But even if I was, that wouldn't have stopped it from looking like a multivote. Also, as I previously mentioned, that's pregame, so I wouldn't have taken it seriously anyway. In addition, he just voted twice, as opposed to using "hydra-vote."
Quote from ced »
Hint: lecturing somebody about them not making much attempt to scumhunt, then proceeding to say that you understand why they're doing it, then further proceeding to vote them kind of misses the point of lecturing them in the first place.
My understanding of him not wanting to scumhunt is that he's lazy, not that he wants to survive to the end of the game. The fact that he didn't want to do anything is what made me want to vote him in the first place.
I have a trigerred ability that lets me see everyperson who targets me at night with overt things.
I have another ability that lets me target a player and learn their trigerred abilities. It#s overt.
And now for the intresting part.
I am probably a Traitor.
My win ocn changes eassilly it seems.
I want to claim because if I get killed now my win con stays town and I can win the game with the town. It's clear tonight I will be turned mafia or reamin town. Anyway I think it's in the best intrest of me and the town to lynch me.
So this goes against Vez's usual playstyle of trying to survive until the end of the game. I find this statement of particular nonsensical interest:
Quote from vez »
It's clear tonight I will be turned mafia or reamin town.
"Something will definitely happen tonight! Or maybe not!"
The entire post reeks of Jester, but doesn't seem well constructed enough to be a ploy to make us think he's a jester but really isn't.
(posting this bit outside the spoiler to make sure dC doesn't miss it) Unvote. I'll be damned if I let vezok win this game night 1 from us lynching him.
EWP: lots of posts have happened while I've been writing this. I'll try to deal with some of them:
Ig you don't lynch me today I will not provide results form my abilities.
Also if you wait until the mafia recruit me I will start outing your powers if they are good enough.
If we lynch you today you will not provide results from your abilities. "If they are good enough"? If you actually turn scum you'll be handing over to them any information you get, not just the stuff that's good enough. This looks like a terrible bluff.
I was thinking, it's probably better he doesn't answer that. It helps out if he needs to be NKed and we don't see a mafia kill, then we know he was recruited instead and can just lynch him.
...as if the mafia would want to waste anything on him. I see what he did there.
I don't know if nom is town or scum. But I'd like to point out this type of behavior is his standard modus operandi.
Court Mafia: Day 1, hatch plan to KILL EVERYONE ELSE IN A SINGLE NIGHT, when the plan only allows him to hit 11 random players, ATTEMPTS TO FIRE ANYHOW (Roleblocked).
In other words....Nom is an impulsive player who doesn't think about planning long-term or listening to others. I wouldn't be surprised if he was town. At all.
Uh, yes you did. That's pretty much what you're saying in 393.[quote]
Hrm. Blanked on that. But you're asking me something I answered in that post (393). WIFOMing scum seems like an okay thing for a townie to do along the lines of causing confusion.
[quote=ced]
Bleh, can't figure how to word the question I'm trying to get answered here. Eh.
What was your thought process between reading that post and coming up with "maybe it isn't real..."?
Couldn't tell you. I think what Zchinque said just put the doubt in my mind. I don't record my thought process.
Quote from ced »
Problem is, you're voting him because he's being lazy, rather than him being scum.
I was voting him because his laziness makes him look scummy to me. He's sitting on the sidelines shouting into the crowd and not being helpful to the town. People that aren't helpful for the town probably aren't town.

Nom's vote is obviously bad. As is SO's suggestion that we lynch Vez and vig our "other" lynch target.

What is it with people and info vomiting?
What's the danger of your scenario that you're presenting here? Vez is alive tomorrow. Oh noes. We can still deal with him then. The scum will know who the vig is? Again, not horrible. Especially compared with lynching someone who gives us no wagon info.
And you know what doesn't add up? You're concerned with outing the vig, a minor role in the grand scheme of things but then, with what, two votes on you, you go ahead and claim cop. Explain that one to me.
I know that you've never been scum before; hence my line about you breaking your streak.
I'm not sure what's going on here but I don't buy that you're the cop and just claimed under so little pressure.
if your the cop your a moron. I smell something fishy, and AI isn't hanging himself with whatever rope we've given him. unvote.
Vote is not currently on NA for two reasons. One (I REAAALLY want vez dead. His existence annoys me.) However voting him to death is not the right way to do it. He should be vigged, his ability can't do much if he's dead.
The other reason NA is not currently voted by me, is, as scum, there doesn't seem to be much reason to claim cop at this juncture. Thus I am left with the realization that NA is acting stupid and probably not scum.
However, I feel compelled to point out one thing, what if we don't have a vig? I really have no idea what to do about vezok, and he is currently giving me a headache. I am open to any suggestions. (We cant trust NA to cop him, we can't trust that we have vig, and deliberately mislynching someone who we know their alignment is stupid).
Someone please come up with a brilliant plan because one currently alludes. me.

The only thing I can think of is that Nom was provided with a safe cop false-claim and got cocky and used it at the first sign of danger.
I agree it doesn't make much sense to claim cop now as scum but it makes just as little sense to do so as town. And remember we may have no cop; bastard game is bastard.
As for your other point, I'm more worried about the possibility of multiple people trying to kill Vez, since games of this size and nature tend to have multiple town killing roles (although, as I've just mentioned above; bastard game is bastard). Anyway that's a bridge to cross when we get there (i.e. he's still alive after a couple of days).

It means that they can't shoot at anyone else if they need to. It's more of a concern if we have multiple limited vigs that would be forced to use up their shots, not knowing that somebody else was taking care of it.
I'm having some attention problems right now. I've been working on an analysis post but it's going to have to wait a bit. I really don't like Nom claiming like that (or Vezok for that matter) and it is reminiscent for me of Goo Mafia (ongoing).

Letter vs. Spirit of rule, I suppose.
I'm not too worried about it right now because we have bigger fish to fry. You're not going anywhere.
I'd have to say my biggest suspicions would be on AI, as I don't like the way he was going after Some One--it's like he's trying to be subtle about it, yet not really succeeding.
I don't see what's subtle about me calling him scum and voting.
Also, I asked some posts back about AsianInvasion's meta, could anyone respond to that?
I don't feel like going back to check what you asked, but all of my games are in my blog (with helpful color-coded alignment text).
The possibility of a mafia doctor is troubling, but I especially don't like that it was Nom_Anor who suggested it. Vigging vezokpiraka is the correct play, and it's starting to look like lynching Nom is as well. A town cop just does not claim Day One under two votes (virtually no) pressure.
I want flavor and any other hidden information from vezokpiraka (good luck, right) and Nom_Anor.
I'm sorry, but I've been town constantly, and getting obvscum labels all over me in both this and the other game I'm in has gotten me pretty unhappy: you're welcome to call me scum all you want when I'm actually ☺☺☺☺ing scum. Seriously, do you know how many times I've been lynched as town, despite never once being scum (the answer is twelvish, I think).
And I came out as cop because this is a bastard mod game.
What's the point in being a cop if I'm just going to get lies thrown at me. I'm with az here: we might as well just run it as vanilla.

Walk me through this as I don't understand. How does the fact that this is a bastard game make you claim cop?
It seems pretty clear from the context of your claim post that the cop claim was as a point to clear you, but you're saying that we should run it as a vanilla game, in which case claiming cop should do nada for you and claiming it would be pointless.

If he's telling the truth, the best thing is not to lynch him but have someone shoot him tonight I believe. Actually, I think that's the best thing to do with him now, period.
I'm just trying to figure out if Vezok is this bad, or is a Jester and counting on his reputation to pull this off.
I would be really sad if there were jester's in this game though, despite my awareness that this is a bastard game.
I am tossing up between agreeing with this, and agreeing with Nom that it's better to lynch him outright and avoid complications from things like mafia protects and whatever trickier evil abilities our bastard mod may have in store. I would be very sad if there was a jester, but them's the breaks. I'm not going to leave a guy alone on the offchance our mod has put a jester in.
Just throwing this in here to remind all of the warnings provided to us by the bastard ModGod, and have highlighted the most important parts:
Warnings
1. This is not your grandfather's game of mafia. Don't be lazy.
2. This is a bastard mod game. The mod makes one promise -- equal bastardy for everyone.
3. Trust no one.
The problem I've been having with this game is I don't know what a bastard ModGod would do. I guess that's everyone's problem, though, right? Because he's a bastard ModGod, there's no telling what he'll do, right?
Az's "play it vanilla" is really starting to sound better and better the more I think about it.
if your the cop your a moron. I smell something fishy, and AI isn't hanging himself with whatever rope we've given him. unvote.
Who and why did you unvote?
Vote is not currently on NA for two reasons. One (I REAAALLY want vez dead. His existence annoys me.) However voting him to death is not the right way to do it. He should be vigged, his ability can't do much if he's dead.
How is this a reason you're not voting NA? This is fence-sitting.
The other reason NA is not currently voted by me, is, as scum, there doesn't seem to be much reason to claim cop at this juncture. Thus I am left with the realization that NA is acting stupid and probably not scum.
No, but I've seen this man claim SK when he was a vanilla townie, so I wouldn't put anything past him.
If he has a safe false claim for cop or is a scum cop (which is what I'm thinking is the case), then it makes perfect sense for him to claim at the first possible time (although I'm baffled why he didn't at least wait till L-2. Guess he couldn't keep it in his pants any longer).
Yeah, /barn Skander when he said not to worry about this right now. We'll cross it when we get there if necessary.
Also, it is not stupid to deliberately mislynch someone who we know their alignment if that person could have their alignment switched and we'd be required to rely on them to tell us it changed.
This next part is a fact: if he were allowed to stay alive and were switched to mafia, there is no possible way that he would tell us. We cannot trust vezokpiraka.
Someone please come up with a brilliant plan because one currently alludes. me.
Unfortunately, I have to /barn this. I have absolutely no idea what to do at this time.
It seems the best plan is to vig him tonight because, as I stated, he absolutely cannot be trusted. He has already threatened to use the information he finds about the town against the town. He has to go, as soon as possible.
The only thing I can think of is that Nom was provided with a safe cop false-claim and got cocky and used it at the first sign of danger.
In your opinion, how possible is it that he is a scum cop?
I agree it doesn't make much sense to claim cop now as scum but it makes just as little sense to do so as town. And remember we may have no cop; bastard game is bastard.

This is the biggest crock of horse ☺☺☺☺ I've ever seen in my life. Bastard game or not, I don't think a cop is going to be completely useless. Maybe insane or paranoid, but not useless.

Maybe. Suspect not, though. He's a man of plans. Not always good plans. But plans. Inclined to let it play out.
Ugh, qft. We may need to leave him alone for a bit.
Yeah, before anyone calls me on it, I'm admittedly on the fence about Nom. Sue me.
Not really. vezok is highly unlikely to be anything other than what he says he is (unless he is a Jester, which is still unlikely). So at what stage can we analyze the "wagon"? Right now. Especially since the extent of reasoning for said wagoners would be something like "well, he needs to die sometime. why not now?"
Meanwhile, we'll need an alignment from anybody else to go anywhere in terms of wagons, hence we need to lynch a suspect.
I unvoted AI, he did a remarkably scummy thing that got him my vote, didn't repent which was another strike, however other than that single instance he hasn't really done anything else scummy. Let him stew for a bit and see what night brings.
Yes, yes it IS fence sitting, I am currently on the fence between Vezok and NA with no idea which way to turn. AI and AZ are on the back burner for now.
If you don't lynch me today I will not provide results form my abilities.
Also if you wait until the mafia recruit me I will start outing your powers if they are good enough.
If you're lynched today, you're not going to be in any position to provide ability results. Corpses aren't talkative. Threatening us with an alignment switch reads more like you being a jester trying to win, except that I seem to recall dC mentioning how much he HATED jesters. Even in a bastard-mod game I can't see him putting a jester role in the game.
re: claims from Vez and NA - Ick. However, this game is messing with our standard concepts so much I can see the reasoning behind their doing it. The "ignore the bastardry and play it as vanilla" is an interesting take on it.

Wow, pretty defensive.
Why would I shout OMGUS at this? I'm not voting for you, and you provided your reasons, whether they're valid or not.
re: claims from Vez and NA - Ick. However, this game is messing with our standard concepts so much I can see the reasoning behind their doing it. The "ignore the bastardry and play it as vanilla" is an interesting take on it.
How does the fact that, as I pointed out, "ignore the bastardry" doesn't line up internally with Nom, affect your read here?
For the record, we don't even know whether or not the motivation for his claim could be role-related, guys. There are no safe assumptions when it comes to a bastard game.
This is why I'm largely ignoring the question for the time being.

This is why I'm largely ignoring the question for the time being.
For those against protecting vezokpiraka because of possible mafia protection from a town vig, consider this: If vezokpiraka does not wind up dead, he can still be lynched as a last resort. It doesn't make sense to waste a lynch on him when chances are good that he is telling the truth.
I am tossing up between agreeing with this, and agreeing with Nom that it's better to lynch him outright and avoid complications from things like mafia protects and whatever trickier evil abilities our bastard mod may have in store. Anyway, why are we assuming that, since he can turn, that he will turn? I have a feeling that planning for the worst case scenario is not going to be good in the long run in this game.
In what possible way is this the way to view things? I have only seen you as one of the more cautious players, and I would never expect a "let's just let the traitor role cop who has threatened to post the roles he find in thread run free."
The only thing I'm worried about by lynching him is...what if the whole "This game is a bastard mod game" bit was said because he is a Jester and it will end the game if we lynch him. Thoughts on how possible this is please? I need help.
I would say if this happens the game isn't worth playing.

Umm... no?
You can't call it wasting a lynch now by saying we can waste a more valuable lynch late game.

Yes. As I explained during that previous post. Post 120 was not present in my mind at that time. Also, that was pregame, so there wasn't really any reason for me to believe he wasn't just messing around at the time.

No. But even if I was, that wouldn't have stopped it from looking like a multivote. Also, as I previously mentioned, that's pregame, so I wouldn't have taken it seriously anyway. In addition, he just voted twice, as opposed to using "hydra-vote."
My understanding of him not wanting to scumhunt is that he's lazy, not that he wants to survive to the end of the game. The fact that he didn't want to do anything is what made me want to vote him in the first place.
So this goes against Vez's usual playstyle of trying to survive until the end of the game. I find this statement of particular nonsensical interest: "Something will definitely happen tonight! Or maybe not!"

I was voting him because his laziness makes him look scummy to me. He's sitting on the sidelines shouting into the crowd and not being helpful to the town. People that aren't helpful for the town probably aren't town.
A card game about Presidents. Stabbing each other. With knives.
And then SomeOne makes hist post agreeing with NA minutes later.
I feel like I'm missing something.
I'm not sure.
Unvote, Vote: Nom_Anor
I have a theory on this, but I'll let SO respond and explain before I voice it.

A couple of rereads are in order. Including Talore, he's been slowly worming himself up my list of suspects.
Won't be tonight though, got a lecture early in the morning.

1. To be pretty much scum.
2. To have an ability making it bad to target him at night.
If he's lying, then we should probably lynch him, since there's something worse lurking for us than just an ability making it bad for us to target him tonight.
If he's telling the truth, we should probably lynch him, since otherwise tonight, mafia are going to do something like Doc Protect + Mafia convert, out our vig.
By the way:
1. I've never been scum before.
2. I've been lynched more times than I can count.
3. I'm also getting called obvscum in the other game I'm in right now.
4. I'm the cop.
I think that it is important for everyone to know what everyone else is thinking, and of course with that note I would be involved in the case. If it offends you I shall cease form doing it in the future.
yeah, explain why you just said that.

Why is that something to be worried about?
It means that they can't shoot at anyone else if they need to. It's more of a concern if we have multiple limited vigs that would be forced to use up their shots, not knowing that somebody else was taking care of it.

I'm not too worried about it right now because we have bigger fish to fry. You're not going anywhere.
I don't see what's subtle about me calling him scum and voting.
More like:
So yeah, I feel great. Let's lynch us some scum.
It doesn't add up.
Town Skander is town.
I'm starting to believe that Nom is telling the truth and simply has no idea what the hell he's doing.
Agreed. And agreed.
Maybe. Suspect not, though. He's a man of plans. Not always good plans. But plans. Inclined to let it play out.
Hope to have it fixed by the end of the week, understand if I need to be replaced.
Sorry again guys.
It seemed fine to go both ways because they both require a wagon to be formed.
The problem I've been having with this game is I don't know what a bastard ModGod would do. I guess that's everyone's problem, though, right? Because he's a bastard ModGod, there's no telling what he'll do, right?
Az's "play it vanilla" is really starting to sound better and better the more I think about it.
Who and why did you unvote?
How is this a reason you're not voting NA? This is fence-sitting.
Unfortunately, I have to /barn this. I have absolutely no idea what to do at this time.
It seems the best plan is to vig him tonight because, as I stated, he absolutely cannot be trusted. He has already threatened to use the information he finds about the town against the town. He has to go, as soon as possible.
In your opinion, how possible is it that he is a scum cop?
I'm scared, Skander...:p
Awaiting explanations before I remark on the list.
Felt good to piss off all the townies? Good for you, then. Jackass.
Why is this the first defense you went to?
This is the biggest crock of horse ☺☺☺☺ I've ever seen in my life. Bastard game or not, I don't think a cop is going to be completely useless. Maybe insane or paranoid, but not useless.
You've got my vote, scum.
Second the answering of this question.
While this is entirely possible, I don't know. I don't know what to think.
The only thing I'm worried about by lynching him is...what if the whole "This game is a bastard mod game" bit was said because he is a Jester and it will end the game if we lynch him. Thoughts on how possible this is please? I need help.
Ugh, qft. We may need to leave him alone for a bit.
Yeah, before anyone calls me on it, I'm admittedly on the fence about Nom. Sue me.

Yes, yes it IS fence sitting, I am currently on the fence between Vezok and NA with no idea which way to turn. AI and AZ are on the back burner for now.
The "ignore the bastardry and play it as vanilla" is an interesting take on it.
re: MandersHex - Don't like his belligerent attitude. Seems like he's demanding answers every other post. Overzealous townie, or scum hiding fishing attempts with mock aggression/frustration?
Go ahead and shout OMGUS at this. <censored> Rationality for this game.
Unvote, Vote MandersHex
Note to self: Your mafia theories are usually wrong, so don't act on them.
1) I'm a girl.
2) Have you ever read any game I was in?
3) Oh, heaven forbid I want my questions answered. Questions that are not fishing for anything other than reasons, on top of that.
Speaking of, you didn't answer my last question.
Wow, pretty defensive.
Why would I shout OMGUS at this? I'm not voting for you, and you provided your reasons, whether they're valid or not.

Vezok 2.0?
I haven't been in a game with Nom for a while but that's not how I recall him.
Well, that would mean there would have to be either a bunch of neutrals or multiple scum teams to justify it, or it could be a useless red herring.
Either way, I don't think the chances are too high.
How does the fact that, as I pointed out, "ignore the bastardry" doesn't line up internally with Nom, affect your read here?
This is why I'm largely ignoring the question for the time being.
Surely behavioural analysis is safe?
In what possible way is this the way to view things? I have only seen you as one of the more cautious players, and I would never expect a "let's just let the traitor role cop who has threatened to post the roles he find in thread run free."
I would say if this happens the game isn't worth playing.
Umm... no?
You can't call it wasting a lynch now by saying we can waste a more valuable lynch late game.
-----
I want to give vez a night and if the vig doesn't take care of business worry about lynching him then. Either way, he needs to die soon.
