Back to the topic, though, I still think life max should be on a sliding scale. It doesn't have to mean that the start life increases (Though I admit, seeing some Red Mages out there...) just that a person should have the option of at least investing in it.
Also I don't think it's fair that the Phyrexians get a free regeneration ability but no drawbacks for becoming phyrexian, but non-phyrexians don't get any cool ability. Maybe each house's inner circle and each guild should have a "blessing" that they bestow upon their members.
I totally agree with Dragoon... Artificers? Ok, why not? But Smiths? Hell no.
Why the hell not? I think not having to go to warbeards to get a weapon, or being able to customize your own weapons and armor... would be really really cool

You want to know what I'm working on ... exactly that
Actually, I think that people should get abilities based on their roleplaying (i.e. what they do). For example, Osark's eyes glow whenever he channels mana, which could potentially be adapted into a random sight ability and stuff like that.
If you noticed the phyrexian healing this is only around because Long-Fur gave up his mortality and his soul for the power. On top of that it does have drawbacks if you didn't notice overuse of the power causes flesh removal.

I'm wondering if it will kill him if he overuses it, or will it merely turn him into an undead...
Per encounter abilities:
Yeah, an idea I've been pushing in my mind. Something you could use once per battle, and it would take up all your casts for that particular turn. Some effects could include:
(White): Gain protection from the color of your choice until the start of your next turn. This would include all summons you currently have. The ability could be played at instant speed.
(Black): Reanimate one creature from any graveyard under your control. This would have a life payment of X, X being = to CMC of the creature.
(Green): All creatures you control gain landwalk of your choice, or possibly trample. Another idea could be a Heartbeat of Spring effect, but since the idea is to not allow casting during the turn when this is used it really wouldn't have much of an effect. Possibly a personal Upwelling, though..
(Blue): Tap all creatures and lands target opponent controls. Alternatively, an Evacuation effect.
(Red): All creatures you control gain first strike until the start of your next turn. I had though about a damage ability but red gets too many of those anyway....and it would, by necessity, deal damage to everything, characters included.
And yes, no incantatrix for you. Or anyone. That class makes puppies cry. Mostly because they are the former Big Bads who have been Baleful Polymorphed into said puppies. By you. Because you're an incantatrix.

I suppose it's true. Though the logistics implied in a human/Great Wyrm Prismatic Dragon pairing makes me shudder.
...Something tells me that even should all arcane casters in the world unite, that the Grease spell would NOT be sufficient.

Don't worry, my ideas are even better and include some of your ideas (or some a bit different) and mine are worked out far better.
I'll post them somewhere today or tomorrow.
So, quick question time, does anyone have any objections to my mage sight proposal, or should I go ahead and implement it?

Someone once asked me why, when I talk about House Dimir, I don't put the word "the" in front of it.
At the time, I had no answer, but it just came to me.
Do we put the word "the" in front of God?

Ti'rin, could you wait until I have posted my ideas?
I would have posted them today if not for the bad headache I have, which makes it impossible to complete the whole thing.
Hopefully I'll be able to post the whole thing tomorrow (yes, it is once more a huge page full of stuff :D)
Landil, I was just trying to get a sense of how others stood on the issue. As this thread doesn't have a poll, implementation will happen in an ad hoc manner.
As for the healing touch ability--I kind of like it.

I still think that the 'access to older spells through high-level quest' idea is good... Sure, no broken stuff, but access to the occasional dark ritual or lightning bolt to higher-level mages couldn't hurt much.
