Had a super busy night working at my LGS tonight, did my first tournaments. Put on three drafts over the time I was there, so crazy! I really hope I didn't screw it up... @____@

Three drafts in one night sound fun, but is much more magic than I can typically handle. I haven't played magic since last december...Just haven't been feeling it. I wonder if I'm retired from the game for good.


Successfully finished my first week of work. The main project right now is getting ready for a workshop where we'll teach ranch owners various range monitoring techniques. So I spent all day driving around the ranch looking for various places that could work as a good instructional site. Most the roads are rough, but the truck I've been assigned should work fine...as soon as I get the shifting down. I swear 1st gear is overly sensitive, but I've yet to stall it.

So, thanksgiving next week.... any plans? I'll be driving back to vegas come wednesday.

Hey guys! How is everyone?

I went 2-2 at Legacy tonight with Enchantress, we had a record turnout of 34 players! Such a fun night, hope we keep up the numbers for next week. My deck is running so much more consistently now that I've tweaked it. I went 2-0 (CounterTop) 1-2 (Infect) 2-0 (Cephalid Breakfast) and 0-2 (RDW - mulled to four both games! )

My exhibition is tomorrow night, I am really excited! I'll take pictures and post them up here.

Daggs - Glad to hear work is going well. We don't celebrate thanksgiving here but I'll eat a whole turkey anyway.

votan - I was working that night so I was just putting them on.

Work has been crazy lately, I sold over 4 grand of stock today at the department store i work at @_______________@

That just means you were not in a swing state. I can't tell you how annoying it was in Nevada. Every other commercial on TV was political, the mail box was filled with nothing but political adds, the phone rang 20+ times a day with political robocalls and political surveys, and the doorbell rang at least three times a day with a political voice (or someone paid by them cause half the time they didn't seem to care or told me they were just doing their job.).

It got so bad that I disconnected the phones, only watched netflix, just tossed out the mail, and posted this picture on my door.

In the end I was really just happy to see the whole thing end. ...and now I'm excited about the 2016 season. Will Hillary go for it? Will Chris Christie get the nomination? Here's hoping for a Palin/Trump ticket for the win!


Oh, and awesome collection there. Do you have it all in Foil yet? I haven't worked on my foil set of innistrad since december. Which sucks now since I'll probably never finish it. Only a third done anyway.

Charlie....enchantress is a mean deck. It's slaughtered my Rock deck almost every time I've encountered it. So I wouldn't discount it. Then again the only legacy deck I own is Rock.


Thanksgiving was good. Still in vegas eating leftovers. Played and Beat Halo 4...gotta say, I expected a ton more from that game. Rather dissapointing.

4-0 in Legacy tonight with The Gate, came first, awwww yeah! So happy. We had 31 players, it was a good turnout. I beat Elves 2-0, UR Delver 2-0, Cheerios 2-1, and Jace Rock 2-1.

It ran really smoothly. The only additions I really need to make now is -2 Swamp +2 Wasteland, - 2 Deathrite Shaman -2 Geralf's Messenger +4 Faerie Macabre. I need to add another Revoker to the board, and somehow Ravenous Trap and/or Extirpate.

I have spent the last three days being a beach bum today was incredible. Perfect weather – just a bit too hot, with a cool breeze coming from the south (that's where they keep the Big Ocean & Antarctica ), water calm but not flat & stinky. Going to try to make it an all-week thing, see how high we can count

I suppose I should look to see of there is a magic scene here in the verde valley. Supposedly if you add everyone up there's at least 30,000 people living here. At the moment I just work then go home...watch some tv..then sleep. It's a transitional mindset, a bit boring, but I haven't really settled in yet. The work itself is fun, love being out on the ranch, I just need to work on some sort of social life. Magic would at least let me use my legacy deck...I mean I did spend a ton of money putting it together two years ago. Might as well use it...see if Rock can beat Charlie's deck.


Try fishing at the Beach Ria...good eats there...and always fresh. Probably need to bring a grill too, just to get things going. And rule of thumb...if it moves its edible. ...though i suppose in Oz there are some pretty mean exceptions to that rule.


House buying is being a bit stalled in my head. Mainly because I discovered I am in a higher tax bracket than i thought. It's good, because it means I'm making more money, but its bad in that I have a lot less money to work with than I thought. If the government keeps the mortgage tax credits in place at the fiscal cliff then I'll have some real incentive to continue with the idea of buying a house. Otherwise, no. My margine of error isn't great and worst case scenario could be painful...but its survivable either way.

Would have been much easier if I won that $550,000,000 jackpot last night...but alas, it wasn't to be.

Bah! Slow times are slow folks. So I'm going to rant, cause that's whats on my mind.

Basically I am a bit frustrated with myself. I've always prided myself in being open minded and being able to see several sides of many issues. It's why I can be friends with crazy people like BLOD, regular hippies, and stereotypical range folks. ...recently I've discovered that I've been losing some of that open mindedness. Maybe its the people I hang out with, maybe its my industry, or maybe its the difference in philosophy...but for whatever reason I find myself being overly annoyed with Environmentalists.

I've indirectly clashed with them several times and it always feels that as an organization they have a ton of money, political power, and are rather detached from the realities of nature and the environment. In Arizona they've lost a bit of power because the policies they push, though well meaning, tend to be destructive in the long run...at least compared to what they "think" is suppose to happen. I find myself smiling a bit too much at their loss of power.

I'm not sure if I need to do some soul searching to re-align my impartiality. It is needed for proper debate and collaboration after all...and I hear the vortexes and crystals can do wonders in re-alignment. I guess thats logic. However part of me likes the direction I'm going...wants me to take a position, a banner, and run with it. Actively oppose those environmentalists instead of just being annoyed and complain about them.

Not a big deal I guess...but it is a shift in philosophical identity. I wonder how much of what I'm basing my thoughts on is just false propaganda.

We've had a good run.

This year was particularly sour, & I take a lot of responsibility for that, but we haven't had draw for membership for some time. None of us are particular active here or elsewhere on the board, we don't tank the contests anymore. . . you can't just say 'post more!' – if there's no drive there, there's no point faking it

Shapes change, corners wear off. I don't see any shame in us calling it a day.

I'm here! I've just been busy lately, and very sick as of the past 12 hours.

3-2 in a GPT for Sydney today, I was right on the cusp of top 8. Don't think I got it as I had to leave at the end of 5 rounds, I was so sick. Selesnya aggro is so good in standard.

I think you are right to be worried. We've been slow, very slow. I know I've been prone to scrounge up something to say. But then I wouldn't be happy if we were as fast as some of the clans around here. I think there's a good medium and that we are on the bottom end of it. I'm sure we have enough momentum to survive the start of 2013. ...but does it feel like we're limping along a little?

Good luck getting in the top 8 next time charlie. I must ask, how is Selesna an agro style deck? I haven't seen it since the last ravnica...but back then selesna was slow and saproling heavy.

So Ria...you think there's any drive left. I don't think there's any of us faking...though I think we are all busy to varying degress. Yuks probably has finals right about now. There's a tendency to slow down daily checking when there's nothing new to see.

I don't think anyone is faking, I'm just saying what we see is what we get.

But the reason to *be* a clan has kind of drifted to the wayside. I can interact with you guys elsewhere, & for the most part, I do, so it's not like if this thread locks I won't still goof off with votan in mod chat, or talk to you & Charlie & DUX on facebook (along with former members who don't visit this site anymore, like sXe or HKKID).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we should roll over. . . I'm just not fussed if we do

It is pretty fun. The amount of times I have been losing, then slammed down a Sublime with 5 creatures in play and won that turn is insane. In one game I was on 5 life in the mirror match, he was on 15. I had a Sublime Archangel in play with 3 other dudes, dropped a Rancor on it, then paired it with a Silverblade Paladin, and he just scoops. I ended up going 3-2, coming 9th according to Planeswalker Points. I also found out I'm qualified to play in the WMCQ next year, wooooo!

I am very very sick now. It got worse and worse after I posted here yesterday and now I just feel nauseous all the time, my stomach is just in turmoil, and I hve developed sudden very painful tonsilitis.

b: how many members do we need to be considered "active"?? I think we do alright, it's been slow, but it's the time of year where everybody has a ton of stuff going on.

Honestly, things haven't been the best for me lately. Just relationship (or lack thereof) kind of **** getting me down, with the pressures of school just adding on to it all.

But other than that, I've found solace in music. I've been playing a lot of guitar lately, making original tracks and things like that. Music's been a really large focus of mine lately, actually. A few friends and I actually are getting a band in the works, so we'll see how that goes.

Other than that, I'm just going with the punches, rolling with what life deals me. I try not to get myself down too often, though we all have our moments, am I right?

Sorry to hear about your loss there Luck. It always hurts and it always lingers a while. Just chill with your music and live for the day. Gets easier after a while and life goes on.

Take it easy charlie. That sounds particularly bad. Chicken soup is needed...have Ria bring it over, he's only a few blocks away from you anyway.


Me, I've settled down. Put down roots. Got me a long term job and am making long term plans like regular folks do. Standard 9-5 really, I even have business cards and...not one...but two offices. Even went through all sorts of training today to tow the company line. ...like if the uterus of a cow comes out I need to put it back really fast. (...or was I suppose to pull the calf out first, check for twins, then put the uterus back?)

v: thanks man! I am starting to get a lot more confident in my playing ability. They just announced a Modern GP in my city next year, so I'll be attending two GPs next year (!!!), one sealed, one modern! So exciting.

daggs: settling down? What is even going on here? Can you believe there is no soup in my house and I can't drag myself up to the supermarket because I am so exhausted and IT'S YOUR FAULT ALL I WANT IS SOUP

Tonsilitis kept me awake all night, it's so painful and my throat is so swollen I can barely talk. Having the day off work to see if the first dose of penecillin kicks it in the butt.

Sealed is really just luck... but I do know how to build a sealed deck properly for RTR - play Rakdos. I played Rakdos at one of the 4 prereleases I played and went 3-1 out of over 70 people, came 8th.

For modern it's hard to plan what to play since it's not until October but I'm going to be running Modern on Thursday nights at the shop I work at. I'm looking forward to it as it should give me a good insight into the format. Right now I am leaning towards Martyr-Proc or Doran Rock, or maybe even Heartbeat combo.

I actually like scealed a lot. Feels good being able to make a solid deck, even if you don't have the bombs needed. Draft is fun too. I loved innistrad when I tried building some of the staple forms of decks, like blue/green mill.

Modern is too expensive for me, though honestly I probably have most the money cards. I just haven't pulled them out of my car. I probably should since the freeze thaw cycle is probably wrecking the foils.


So....I decided to scrub the house buying idea. Main reason is that houses are stupid and I didn't want one anyway! :mad:. ...plus to make it work I would need one renter to break even and two to make money, it essentially means that I would have to rely on other people to survive. If I can't get a renter and don't have one by the time my job ends, then I go bankrupt. Worst case scenario and status quo look a little too similar to me to be comfortable.

Then there's the debt I'm saddled with. I know I've *****ed about it a ton here, but the basic math of it is that the minimum payments are $500 a month and that's hard enough to deal with. Ironically, I've discovered that education is a partial solution, so I plan to become a part time student...to save money :o.

So I'm going to play it careful and safe, where the best case scenario and worst case scenario are basically the same. ...how boring is that?

Yeah...that is certainly the smart way to be. I need to work on being content and patient. I'm in a good position right now, but it's from a perspective of being on the bottom looking up and seeing that as long as nothing bad happens I'll eventually have a solid financial cussion and be debt free.
