Sounds like my dad, except he's a true Reformed Jew as he will work on the Sabbath without any problem.
Hope everyone had a good holiday season. I sure did as all my folks came down and survived through all the craziness. New Year's is going to be a lot quieter for me which is nice, and once we get into the new year we'll be doing promotions that I know you guys have been waiting for!
Promotions, you say? Yeah; most Reformed Jews I know are very lax about the teachings. My former uncle, though, is Hassidic.....so there were a few differences when we used to go to his and my aunt's house in the past. (the entire rest of my family is Pentecostal Christian)
I grew up in a neighborhood that was primarily Asian and Indian, so I've been exposed to a lot of vegetarian cuisine through that. I like meat too much to ever do it full-time, but there's a lot of really cool food out there. And fried okra is amazing
Soul food, you say? (grabs the greens and sweet potatoes) A feast I say!

Warning: Tapering of evidence may cause Erwin Schrodinger to kill you like a cat in a box. Maybe....
My dad, while technically Jewish, has never been much for practicing the religion. He takes off work for the holidays but doesn't actually celebrate them lol. And he never kept kosher.
Heh, my dad is the Rabbi of our synagogue, so I had to be there for like, all of the major holidays. I definitely slept through a lot of services (early morning sermons didn't mix well with my nocturnal sleep schedule). And got in trouble a lot lol.
Despite the fact that my dad is the Rabbi, my parents were (thankfully) never super strict about The Rules (this is almost funny if you've seen the anime my avvy is from). I still got rides to and from FNM, carried money on the Sabbath, etc.

There is definitely an Indian place close to my house back in Vermont. I don't usually eat there when I go back though. Its not on my usual route into down town, so I never think to go until I'm on the plane back to Kentucky.
I love Asian food. I eat it whenever I get the chance and try to find a good Japanese restaurant in whatever city I find myself in for the weekend. I'm also trying to learn my favourite recipes. Like I can almost make legit fried tofu now.
I finally started my clan grading , but I can say House of Dimir transformed me already.
Dimir was pretty good. I liked The Called's entries the most over all, though.
Hope everyone had a great New Years! Mine was pretty scary after I won a bunch of money playing poker with friends. I went to a party at friend's place in the middle of nowhere. Actually the exact same place I had my last "incident" with alcohol at. I managed to stick to my plan this time and not drink any alcohol.
Unfortunately, all the drunk people wanted to talk to me! So I waited outside with all the people engaging in another form of intoxication until I found a ride out of there.
Judging submitted. Dimir got our first place vote, Crafters second, and 3rd was a split between Family and Called, but I added that the split should be decided by opinions I heard about the song choices and given to The Called if need be.
And now my brain is going to explode. A little hung over from yesterday even though I didn't drink that much. The cigar on the other hand killed me.
Figured you guys needed an update

My Clan Is Dead.... Long Live The Izzet! Johnny, born and raised. Always lookin' for the Next Level Combo. Thanks to Bornover of FHLS for the banner!
Had an all-nighter at the LGS last night (7-7). Four of us left at the end of it, we managed in our rules-lawyering and rules abuse to make the first quest of Descent last five hours. And lose in the final room. (It's supposed to be the introduction to get a feel for it).
Sounds like fun. Was that game worth the time invested? I've never played before.
I was at my soon-to-be-LGS (not officially open yet) playing EDH until 4 am last night. Lost the first one by getting too greedy with Body Double and Mirror Entity and then won the next 2 because the other players attacked the wrong person twice!
In non-Mtg news, I just got my own apartment! So excited to move in.
Yeah I guess it depends what you enjoy. The setup is quite long, and there's a lot of counters. Also we didn't know half the rules which made it take longer. There were amusing things though, like when we annoyed the DM by going on extended shopping trips. (When you die you respawn in town, and then you have to use actions to get back in the dungeon. We had this really weedy wizard who died all the time, who could redistribute items gained from chests to anyone, regardless of location. He died, we then found out that when you find a cache of coins it gives 100 to everyone even if they're dead. Wizard popped back in, grabbed money from everyone and went back to town again. Then bought loads of chests in town, the contents of which could all be teleported at will back into the dungeon. It was pretty ridic.)
And sweet congrats on the new place!
Also did yet another cube draft. Drafted a terrible 3 color Fae deck (Esper). Yeah not much more to say really...
Sounds like it could be interesting. Too bad my "LGS" is out of stock right now.
Thanks! Its going to be awesome to finally unpack and get settled. I've had everything stuck in boxes for the last 3 weeks.
Its finally snowing here! Seeing people freak out over 1 inch of snow is pretty hilarious when you come from Vermont.
Haha, everyone forgets how to drive when there's the smallest bit of snow here. We had snow forecast for like the whole of December and nothin showed.
We played the shop copy of Descent which cool. There's also Gears of War, Dominion, Ascension, Settlers etc which is pretty cool to have on hand.
Its the same here. Last night I walked past like, 6 cars on my way home. They were all crawling through the small amount of snow lol. Work was even delayed 1 hour due to weather today and will be again tomorrow. I definitely got there at the same time as usual and so did all of the other imported Northerners.
I've played Dominon, Settlers, and Ascension before. I definitely like Dominion the most. Have you heard of the game 7 Wonders? Its a drafting game kind of like Dominion but completely different.
Hmm apologies if the electro submission in the contest loses us points, maybe if I'd thought more I would have advocated a more fitting entry. Gah.
I would have liked to have seen a more generic category like breakbeat rather than dubstep, it would have had more room for creativity I think. Also there was rock n roll, classic rock, alt rock, and metal, but for dance there was only really electro and disco - pretty narrow.
I don't know whether to be okay because none of my submissions made a difference or be upset because none of my submissions made a difference.
Where are you guy's getting this info? I don't see anything about results in the CC thread. Just an indefinite suspension of the deadline. Kind of annoying considering how punctual we were about the deadline.
Edit: Going to try and move into my new apt tomorrow. Not having a car/license makes moving dressers pretty tricky.
Bleep. Beep Boop Beep Beep. *Pulls off robot translator* I know I'm risking my life bringing this up, but has anyone heard of a game called Mortasheen? For those who haven't, it's essentially post-apocalyptic Pokemon with genetic modification and human vermin, designed by Jonathan Wojik, AKA Scythemantis.
Also, I'm trying to find the printable Space: the Convergence. Does that still exist?
Not a clue on either of them, here. Perhaps this warrants some research?
TO THE INTERNETS!
On another note: how goes it fellow scientists and madmen/ladies? Who all's going back to school soon, or already has? What's the word on the street? And will somebody please turn down that damned airship turbine! I know I'm going deaf, but you can tell the goblins they don't have to accelerate the process.

I am on Monday. And yeah I tried reasoning with goblins but they are hooked on LP's Points of authority so I guess we need a riot squad to send back to Dominarca.
I'm going back to school in the next couple of weeks. As a library assistant, though, working in the same school I matriculated (trans. graduated) from.
You do know there's only one way to properly deal with goblins? Repeated doses of shock. Goblin-popcorn is actually quite tasty, especially for the torch drakes.

I don't know about popcorn goblins. I preferably like mine charred and blackened so I know the diseases are killed. Only Niv-knows what those Simic have done to the poor slav...I mean workers.

....LP has that kind of power?.....even over goblins? I need to go back to Ravnica and see what Kos's ghost knows of this. Last I heard, goblins answered to nobody; even Kamahl knew of this, and he killed the little things on a daily basis.
Concerning school though, I'm going back the Tuesday after next. I'm not sure how bad this semester will be, but I hope not too bad. I'm taking four graduate-level history courses and an upper level Geography course. One of my professors even sent me the syllabus for his class last month with four books to read for class. Somebody save me? I'll even take a fire cleansing.

Mortasheen would really agree with the Izzet mindset, I think. I mean, where else can you have a living motorbike, then add a gun that fires hallucinogenic worms, and ride it while wearing a monster that looks like a duster and hat that speaks in a posh British accent?

Chemistry is more than frustrating in America too. Also I am a champion durdler as well, inspiring my friend to say "Typical TDF, draws 15 cards, durdles."
