Shadowfox's Homemade Truffles! Arguas' Omelettes You should have:
Eggs
Frying Pan
Butter/something non-sticky for the pan
Heat Source (We'll use a range in this example)
Mixing Bowl (doesn't need to be huge)
Fork/Egg Beater
Spatula
Toppings (Suggestions include sausage, ham, bacon bits, cheese, spinach, broccoli flores)
Instructions
Set your cooking range to the lower end of the Medium setting.
Crack open 2 eggs into the mixing bowl, allowing the yolk and as much of the plasma as possible to flow into the bowl.
Rotate the fork or the beater to spread out the yolks of the egg until you have a fine yellow liquid.
Once the frying pan is warm, pour out the contents of the egg from the mixing bowl onto the frying pan. Try as hard as possible not to let it spread out too far unless you have a circular frying pan. Should that be the case, let it spread out in a circular fashion to the ends.
While the underside of the omelette cooks, apply your toppings to the side of the omelette which is not finished cooking. While you spread out the toppings, most often the Omelette will have successfully cooked at this point.
Use your spatula to fold the two sides of the omelette together upon itself, or if it is circular flip over one side of it onto the other, effectively folding it in half. Let it cook and then flip it over to the other side.
Press the omelette down a bit, letting some of the excess juices flow, and then cook.
Use the spatula to remove the omelette and serve.
SnoopDoggAtog (Starr)'s:
CANADIAN TERIYAKI TOFU
4 cups snow peas
4 cups cubed white button mushrooms or whole tiny button shrooms
4 cups chopped yellow onion
3-4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 8-oz extra firm tofu steaks, cubed and cubes rolled in flour spice mix
Toasted sesame seeds
Flour spice mix
1 cup wheat or corn flour
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp dried basil
Pinch salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
CANADIAN TERIYAKI SAUCE
1 tbsp (LOL 10 ml) maple syrup
1 tbsp (LOL 10 ml) rice vinegar or red wine vinegar
3 tbsp (LOL 30 ml) soy sauce
Pinch ground ginger
Pinch red chile powder
COOKING:
Heat vegetable oil in 16" wide or larger wok or deep skillet until a bit of onion dropped in starts sizzling briskly right away.
Add tofu, onion, garlic; stir fry for 1-2 minutes on high heat.
Add mushroom; stir fry for 5-10 minutes or until onions are translucent and mushrooms are starting to soften and brown.
Add snow peas and stir fry for 5-10 more minutes. Pods should be glistening and softly springy, but still green.
Pour in Canadian teriyaki sauce, stir, lower heat to medium, simmer for 5-10 more minutes or until mixture starts to become dry and cooked, whichever is first.
Salt to taste.
Remove from heat, garnish with toasted sesame seeds, and serve over steamed rice or with soba. 6-8 servings.
Photon's Almond-Crusted Parmesan Chicken
First of all, you'll need enough chicken breast to provide each person with a good 3 or 4 strips. I usually go with about 1 large chicken breast per person. You'll want to cut each breast (once thawed) up into equally sized strips of about an inch of thickness. Also, another alternative is to use chicken tenderloins. If you go with this option, I would suggest about 3-4 strips per person, depending on the relative size of your pieces.
Then, combine 1 part finely crushed almonds with 1 part grated parmesan cheese. I usually use between a cup and a cup and a half, if forced to measure. Season this mixture with a dash of sea salt (you only really need a tiny bit here, since the cheese has a lot of salt in it), and some freshly ground pepper.
Gently beat together two eggs and a fourth of a cup (give or take a little) of water together to form an eggwash. Dip your chicken in the egg, and then coat both sides evenly in the cheese-almond mixture. Place on a non-stick baking sheet, and then bake for about 15 minutes in a 425 degree oven. You'll want to keep an eye on it so that your almonds don't burn- burnt almonds have an awful taste and it will ruin the dish entirely. When finished, the coating should be crispy and slightly golden.
Garnish with slivered almonds and some fresh cilantro.
Dreia's Recipes: Crab Meat and Cheese (Ragoons) Ingredients: 8 ounces, softened 4 green onions, chopped or diced 1 can crab meat 2 teaspoons minced garlic 25 wonton wrappers (small bowl of water)
You’ll need a medium mixing bowl and a frying pan or deep fryer.
Directions: Combine cream cheese, green onions, crab meat, and garlic. Spoon some of the mixture onto a wonton wrapper. Dab water around the edges of the wrapper. Place another wrapper on top, and seal against the water. Fry until golden brown. Remove from frying and let set on paper towels for a minute or two to cool.
Note: My friend fries hers in a pan, but when I made them we put them in a deep fryer basket. I cooked them for a little bit, then flipped them over and cooked until golden brown.
Wonton Appetizer Ingredients: 8 ounces cheddar or Colby jack cheese, shredded 8 ounces pepper jack cheese, shredded 1 cup ranch dressing 1 pound breakfast sausage 35 Wonton wrappers
You’ll need a medium bowl, frying pan, muffin pan, and a cookie sheet.
Directions: Preheat oven to 350°F. Cook and drain sausage. While cooking the sausage, take wonton wrappers and push them into the muffin shape of the muffin pan. Bake in the oven just long enough the shape will set (about 5 minutes). Remove from muffin pan and place on the cookie sheet. Combine the cheeses, dressing, and sausage in a medium bowl. Place the mixture into the formed wonton wrappers on the cookie sheet. Once the cookie sheet is full, or you have enough for what you need, bake them until the cheese is all melted.
Chicken Spaghetti Ingredients: 4-5 Chicken breasts, cut into pieces 12-16 ounces spaghetti noodles, cooked and cut into small pieces 16 ounces sour cream 1 (10¾ ounce) can cream of mushroom soup 1 (10¾ ounce) can cream of chicken soup 8 ounces Velveeta cheese, cubed 12-24 ounces cheese shredded (Colby jack or medium cheddar is yummy) Mushrooms, optional Season to taste (oregano, salt, pepper)
You’ll need a kettle to cook the chicken in, a kettle for noodles, a large bowl, and a 9”x13” pan.
Directions: Preheat oven to 350°F. Boil chicken until fully cooked and drain. Season the chicken after bowling for stronger taste. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Spread into pan and bake.
Note: I used elbow macaroni and it worked quite well.
Shrimp or Chicken Alfredo Ingredients: 8 large shrimp, peeled and cleaned, or 2 chicken breasts 1½ teaspoons olive oil ¼ teaspoon oregano 1 clove garlic, chopped ¾ cup heavy cream ¾ cup parmesan cheese 7 ounces linguine noodles, cooked and drained 1 egg yolk, beaten Salt and pepper 1 teaspoon parsley chopped Lemon wedge and chopped parsley, optional garnish
You’ll need a dish for marinating, a kettle for noodles, and a skillet.
Directions: Marinate meat in oil, oregano, and garlic for 30 minutes. Remove meat and sauté in skilled over medium heat (for shrimp, just until tails curl and flash turns pink). Season it lightly with salt and pepper. Add heavy cream, cheese, and linguine. Simmer about 3 minutes, whisking constantly. When meat is fully cooked, whisk in egg yolk and parsley. Remove from heat and serve immediately. Garnish if you choose.
Notes: Noodles in one pan and sauce in another works best. Then pour sauce over pasta and toss together.
Monster Cookies
Mix until smooth:
12 eggs
4 cups white sugar
1 tablespoon corn syrup
3 pounds peanut butter
2 pounds brown sugar
8 teaspoons baking soda
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 pound butter (cannot use oleo/margarine)
Stir in until mixed well:
18 cups oatmeal
1 pound chocolate chips (mixture of other varieties works well too-my preference is butterscotch, chocolate, and white chocolate)
1 pound M&M's (plain/politically correct milk chocolate works best, because peanut are too big)
Use ice cream scoop to scoop cookies onto cookie sheet. Flatten before baking. Bake at 350F to desired consistency (chewy or crunchy). Approximately 12-15 minutes. Do not overbake.
Note: A half batch is enough to fill two large Tupperware containers. A full batch makes about 60 (5" diameter)cookies.
Mamelon's Sweet & Spicy Rice
I started with my basic recipe for caramelized rice, which is as follows:
1-2 tbsp butter
1-2 tbsp sugar
1 pinch salt
1 cup rice
1-2 cups water
I add the butter to a large metal cooking pot. Then (very important) you let the butter cook until it turns brown. Add the sugar and salt, then add the rice and coat with butter. Then add enough water to cover the rice.
To this, I added:
1 tsp dill seeds
1 tsp sweet paprika
1 tsp cinammon powder
1 tsp dried oregano
several grinds of fresh black pepper
Add these together with the butter. When the rice and water is combined and comes to a boil, add:
1/4 cup good red wine
Bring to a boil, then simmer on low flame/low heat for 10-12 minutes. When the water is absorbed properly, add:
1/2 cup milk
1 tbsp horseradish sauce or 1 tsp ground horseradish
1/4 cup frozen or fresh peas
Let the milk simmer and condense, then add:
1/4 cup your choice of rice vinegar, balsamic vinegar, red wine or sherry vinegar, italian dressing, dijon dressing, or other acid-based dressing
Additional vegetables, like onions, would also be welcome, as would ground ginger and curry powder.
Mamelon's Honey & Nut Glazed Chicken
I started with
4 small chicken tenderloins
But one or two chicken breasts, or other type of chicken meat, would also be fine. Some other type of meat would probably also be good with this dish.
I made a brine out of 1 part salt, 1 part vinegar, and 2 parts water, and let the chicken soak in it for a half hour (or more). Afterwards, dice or chop chicken and add to a hot pan with butter or your choice of oil. After the chicken has some color on the outer side, add:
2-3 tbsps of your choice of good wine or vinegar
1-2 pinches of salt
several grinds black pepper
2-3 tbsps honey
1/3 cup shelled peanuts (or other similar nut/legume of your choice)
Bring the liquid to a boil, then reduce heat and let the chicken cook. Before it's done, you may add, at your option, any combination of:
1 tbsp barbecue sauce
several dashes of worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp mustard
1 tbsp peanut butter
You want the liquid to reduce quite a bit, but it's best to allow some of it to remain to form a sauce.
Mamelon's Breadcrumb Stuffed Mushrooms
I started with seven smallish, toad-stool lookin' mushrooms, but other kinds of mushrooms would be very good choices. Remove the mushrooms stems.
Then I prepared breadcrumbs by toasting wheat bread and curmbling it (should make about a cup) but any other type of bread, premade breadcrumbs, or panko would work, too.
I combined breadcrumbs with 2 tbsps melted butter, 1/2 tsp rosemary, a dash of salt, and a few grinds of black pepper. Combine with hands until flavors permeate.
Fill the cavity in each mushroom with breadcrumb mixture until they are overfull. Sprinkle remaining crumbs over the mushrooms.
Mine only took about 10 minutes on 350 to roast and make the crumbs golden, but you may need to adjust cooking time for larger mushrooms and if you make more at a time.
Frozen Fire's Tomato Sauce Recipe!
First of all, you have to decide if you want to use fresh tomato (The one you get at Grocery) or Canned Tomato (Sample image).
For Fresh Tomato:
Ingredients for 4 People:
0.5 Kg of Fresh Tomato
6 spoons of Olive Oil
1 clove of garlic
Salt as you wish
-Put the clove of garlic and the oil in a Sauce Pan and turn on the stove.
-Wait until the clove gets a color like Gold and remove it.
-Add the tomato after you have removed the peel from it and have cut it in pieces.
-Add salt as you wish and start to mix. If you find the sauce a little acid, you can correct it with a Very Little spoon of sugar.
-The tomato will release some water, so wait until the water in excess has been consumed. You can add some slice of onion if you like it, or oregano, or fresh basil.
-Taste the result. If the salt is correct and the tomato is ready (the sauce becomes dense in around 15 minutes, but depends on the tomato), you can serve it with the pasta.
For Canned tomato, the ingredients are the same, 0.5 Kg of canned tomato is equally fine for 4 people, and you don't need to cut/peel the tomato, but you can put it directly in the Sauce Pan when the clove of garlic becomes gold-colored (already peeled tomatoes have seeds, so is better to take them out).

Welcome to the [Magic Coffeehouse]!
With Warm Regards and Open Arms, Omna Magic CoffeeHouse Co-Founder/Owner
I'm poring over job listings for this week. SOme fresh ones, some older ones that I've applied to and never heard back.
I'll throw a few resume's on the wind and then grab some EDH decks and run downtown to do some R&R.'
Had good times trading yesterday, didn't get much and probably got ripped off on a foil trade, but the community seems larger and a fair bit more laid-back than it always used to. Even the people who come down specifically/solely to trade. They are a lot more laid back and easygoing than some of their ilk in the past - a lot less hardsell, a lot less badmouthing other players and other formats. Just friendlier, more social and less fixated on cardsharking the newer players.
I'm here and accounted for as well! First post cake to SGT Chubbz Congrats
Nice to hear you're still trading, Starr... Seems you're still doing well now, with living in Canada on terms of Magic Is there much difference in the Magic reign from the States vs Canada?
I've been playing a lot of golf lately... I'm going to kick myself for doing this but I found an awesome set of new ladies, lefty clubs for 200 dollars and since I'm gonna be playing a lot more often, I want to have a good set Sooo we're just hangin' out then going to the golf store in a bit to pick up my new clubs, then going to the driving range to try 'em out
Are we ever going to fix the first post? And... The second post is kinda missing. Hrmm. Perhaps we could collectively work on a new version of the combined first/second post(s)? It'd be nice to have the thread reflect how the Coffeehouse currently is, rather than how it was.
Kinda in agreement with Stuff on changing the first post. Might take some work but it'd be worth it. I know I'd personally move myself into the casual customers section since I only show up once every few months...

I agree. But I thought we went over this before a while back. I guess nothing ever came of that?

First thing, there's a lot more demand for Legacy staples and older cards, so while it paid well for me at first, to unload some older commons, now that I'm out of commons and trade fodder, it's hard going. The other side of this is that if and when I do find I'm short of something like Aether Vial or Brainstorm or Ancient Tombs, it's very expensive to fill those gaps now. In the biggest city in Canada, prices are at a premium because this is where virtually all the competitive legacy and extended players live.
secondly, I also used to trade a fair amount of foreign language stock for higher value in the States. Here, almost anybody can get cheap foreign language cards if they want them. So there's virtually zero trade value in my foreign language commons and uncommons here in Toronto. In fact, many traders prefer English rares over Japanese rares. Seems like it should be obvious why, but these are competitive Standard players who know the cards so well they could play them correctly even without any text at all. I still prefer my foreign language oddities, but I respect the wishes of most of the trading players around and try to pick up English cards instead, to make sure I have something to trade.
Thirdly I still don't have a job yet, no income, so we've abandoned constructed formats and just settled on the occasional draft or casual EDH game. This has hurt my competency greatly so that now when I trade, I don't know the current value of my cards anymore and make a lot of mistakes. I guess if you want to avoid being ripped off in trades, you need to be invested in the game at more than just a casual level. Looking at decklists from top 8s around the world doesn't really help you evaluate new cards critically. That can only come with active play.
First post on here, love the chill vibe. Regarding the trade value on legacy staples, I had to explain to these kids what thier volcanic island, city of brass's, mana crypt and many more were worth. They still insisted on trading for a vengeant and jank rares. I felt bad and tried to get them to get more but they didnt want anything else. I am tired of jund being first all the time so i am not that into standard. I play edh alot more I am trying to get a extended dredge deck together cause I love bridge. Just for fun.
Most people here know the value of their cards. There aren't really a lot of younger players at the shops I attend. I don't think that's a bad thing, since both the venues are downtown, and I wouldn't want my kids hanging around downtown late on a Friday night just to play a card game.

Even with active play, it can be VERY hard to judge the value of cards. I found this out trying to buy what seems to be a very competitive extended deck yesterday (Living End). The nonland portion of the deck cost me a whopping 35 dollars. And considering I'm borrowing the land portion from one of my friends that still plays it cost me very little. I know that a good chunk of the competitive cards in that format cost anywhere between 10 and 30 dollars... And it seems the same holds true in standard. The only real way to know the prices it seems is to watch ebay like a hawk and apply a regional increase/decrease...
So what are the chances of certain cards being in M11?
Baneslayer is probably (I'd say 75% likelihood) in M11.
Original 5 planeswalkers also probably in.
We know Lightning Bolt = in.
What about new stuff rotating in? Day of Judgement should probably replace Planar Cleansing. They might keep that last one in to help put a lid on 3Planeswalkers.dec
One of the following will probably get the axe: Doom Blade, Deathmark.
New thread! And new people! Hello steel1987, Kennethwong, vezopiraka, and Powerrox93!
Not much new here, still looking for a job, exhausted three towns, and still nothing. Two interviews and a ton of waiting. However, I've started cooking, and I like doing it.
Went to the Rise of the Eldrazi prerelease. Opened an All Is Dust, a Kozilek, a Dranla, and went 5-1. Went green-black with a deck that was more aggressive than I thought should be for this format, but it worked. Managed to cast Kozilek and a Spider Umbra on it in the same turn, and drew 8 cards and gained four life off a Momentous Fall. Also, saw someone cast an Emrakul in round four. They shouted it out and windmill slammed it down. I played him round five and won off that eight-card Momentous Fall. I like the new limited format, it's not crazy aggression or insane color math. Level up, eldrazi, and rebound all look pretty cool. It's a shame they only had one set in the block for level up, hopefully they'll do more of it in the future.
snoop, BSA is already confirmed in M11. Day will probably be in M12 because its in Zendicar and wont rotate till next year. Congrats D, I wasnt so lucky at the prerelease, I dropped in the second round to play a draft. I did a draft last week and drafted G/W umbra. Try it if you can Aura Narlid is INSANE!!! Try it and dont look back.
I read the last view posts of said thread and they are still speculating in it, with nothing confirmed from what I seen.
Where did those shop owners/judges get this confirmed? Not that I don't believe you, I just find it hard to believe without Wizards confirmation or a pic of said M11 Baneslayer Angel .
Either way it doesn't affect me too much since I only play Limited nowadays, but truth be told my feelings wouldn't be hurt if I opened one during a draft :p.
Hey folks... Just finished watching my TV shows of the night.. yeah, folks, I know we need to revamp stuff.. but I'm kind of an old reminiscer about the days of old... I'm a sentimental softie, what can I say...
oh and is anyone interested in buying my cards?? i'm kinda hard up for cash nowadays and wouldn't mind getting rid of my whole lot.
Hey guys, long time and all that. Old guard checking in at last. I can't sleep really well.
I apologize for not posting earlier. I've had an extraordinary eight days. Starting mid-Thursday and going until late Sunday night, I was gone from home, down in Nashville for MTAC, the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention. I was part of the staff: I was Daidream's assistant in Command and Control, the nerve center of the con. We had the inventory, the lost and found, the hub for the radios, and we were in the meeting room where our con chair retreated for business. It was a lot of hard work, especially going back and forth between the Command and Control to the Staff Lounge on the other side of the hotel, but it was a lot of fun too! I got a lot of pictures (most of them on Daidream's camera) but there were a lot of guests, musicians, cosplayers, and fun to be had. I may go into more detail about it if anyone is interested.
I dunno if all of you are aware of what happened this past weekend in middle Tennessee, and in greater parts of the south. We were hit hard by several strong fronts of raining and potential tornadoes. Massive amounts of flooding all across the state. The Opryland area was under eight feet of water. Over 20 fatalities and hundreds of thousands in property damage. Even my hometown has been hit pretty hard and a lot of people are out of work.
Slightly good news though: Finals week is over and I'm entering summer. Bad news: I don't have rent for July and I need to make it through to August at the least. I need a job, bad. Really bad. I'll have to sell the rest of my magic cards if I can't. Sucky.
Over the course of the weekend during the convention I had to walk back and forth across a large hotel and stand for long periods of time. I had to carry a lot of heavy things, and my feet were injured by the time I finally got home (we got lucky, we found a clean pocket of weather to drive home in Sunday night). I strained my ankles, both of them, and my right foot's muscles are still swelling a little. I'm trying not to walk but I hate it. They're probably bruised badly. It sucks. But it was worth it. Daidream would not have survived it without me, and I would have died on the first day without her.
I apologize for not posting the second post, but I do agree with Mr. Stuff: We need to reorganize the first post and condense/clean it up a bit. I'm sure Danica can do that, she's good at that kind of stuff.
Anyway, I'm going to try and get some sleep and get this foot elevated some more. Stupid muscles. I know it's not torn, it'd hurt a hell of a lot more if it was. It's not twisted, either. I would not be able to walk on it. Both ankles are like this but the right one is more swollen. -sighs-
Anyways, I'm sure it'll be alright. I need to see about getting a doctor visit I suppose.
Good night, Coffeehouse.
P.S. What's up with the thread title? Happy... what, four years?
Im sorry to hear about both you guys going through a tough spot. I dont have a job either since march 2009, unless you consider working at Knotts Scary Farm a job. Its more of a fun event. Regarding BSA, I am relaying what I have heard. I dont think wizards will get rid of a 50 dollar card. If you guys would post what cards you are selling and prices we might be able to help a little.

Heat Source (We'll use a range in this example)
Mixing Bowl (doesn't need to be huge)
Fork/Egg Beater
Spatula
Toppings (Suggestions include sausage, ham, bacon bits, cheese, spinach, broccoli flores)
Instructions
Dreia's Recipes:
Crab Meat and Cheese (Ragoons)
Ingredients:
8 ounces, softened
4 green onions, chopped or diced
1 can crab meat
2 teaspoons minced garlic
25 wonton wrappers
(small bowl of water)
You’ll need a medium mixing bowl and a frying pan or deep fryer.
Directions:
Combine cream cheese, green onions, crab meat, and garlic.
Wonton Appetizer
Ingredients:
8 ounces cheddar or Colby jack cheese, shredded
8 ounces pepper jack cheese, shredded
1 cup ranch dressing
1 pound breakfast sausage
35 Wonton wrappers
You’ll need a medium bowl, frying pan, muffin pan, and a cookie sheet.
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Chicken Spaghetti
Ingredients:
4-5 Chicken breasts, cut into pieces
12-16 ounces spaghetti noodles, cooked and cut into small pieces
16 ounces sour cream
1 (10¾ ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1 (10¾ ounce) can cream of chicken soup
8 ounces Velveeta cheese, cubed
12-24 ounces cheese shredded (Colby jack or medium cheddar is yummy)
Mushrooms, optional
Season to taste (oregano, salt, pepper)
You’ll need a kettle to cook the chicken in, a kettle for noodles, a large bowl, and a 9”x13” pan.
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Boil chicken until fully cooked and drain. Season the chicken after bowling for stronger taste. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Spread into pan and bake.
Note: I used elbow macaroni and it worked quite well.
Shrimp or Chicken Alfredo
Ingredients:
8 large shrimp, peeled and cleaned, or 2 chicken breasts
1½ teaspoons olive oil
¼ teaspoon oregano
1 clove garlic, chopped
¾ cup heavy cream
¾ cup parmesan cheese
7 ounces linguine noodles, cooked and drained
1 egg yolk, beaten
Salt and pepper
1 teaspoon parsley chopped
Lemon wedge and chopped parsley, optional garnish
You’ll need a dish for marinating, a kettle for noodles, and a skillet.
Directions:
Marinate meat in oil, oregano, and garlic for 30 minutes.

/Finally checking in.
Every shop owner I have talked to over here in California has also confirmed it, along with several judges.
Either way it doesn't affect me too much since I only play Limited nowadays, but truth be told my feelings wouldn't be hurt if I opened one during a draft :p.
oh and is anyone interested in buying my cards?? i'm kinda hard up for cash nowadays and wouldn't mind getting rid of my whole lot.
Thoughts??
