To sign up for round 3, PM your deck to Shadowlord by May 2nd. Do not PM me your deck, as I am not judging the contest, merely getting it started. Please also post here to let everyone know you have entered the contest as well (if you weren't in already).
Read all of the rules to the game, which are below. Keep in mind that you do not get any mana besides the three cards you choose. There will be three rounds, and each round you submit a new deck. The cards in the winning deck from the previous round will be banned. You may not use any card in the winning deck from the last round. There is also a regular banned list, so do not include any of those cards in your deck. Each round will be a week long. The decks are due each Friday at Midnight EST (when it becomes Saturday.) Results will be posted on Monday and the next deck will be due on the following Friday. The final winner will be whoever has gotten the most points in each of the rounds combined.
Some older 3CB annd 5CB games can be found in the Forum Games section. Good luck to everyone!
3CB Rules Summary
Three Card Blind is a forum-based Magic game in which in every round, each player PMs three cards to the host. These cards make up your entire deck; you begin each game with those cards in your hand, and you play against each other player twice (one going first, and once going second). These matches are not really "played" as such; the mod simply looks at each player's cards, and figures out who would win. You get 3 points for each win, 1 points for each draw, and 0 points for each loss. Since you play each opponent twice, that means that you can get up to 6 points per opponent. Whoever has the most points after playing everybody wins the round.
All sets are legal, except Unglued and Unhinged. However, any cards that have a random effect (such as Mana Clash), or require some form of physical or mental dexterity (such as Falling Star) are assumed to go against the person playing them (so Mana Clash would give you 20 tails in a row, and Chaos Orb destroys nothing at all.)
You don't lose the game from being unable to draw a card, but the draw still tries to happen, so you are allowed to use cards such as the Onslaught Words enchantments, which allow you to skip drawing a card for some effect.
Perfect play is assumed, and during the games, each player knows what the other player has. So your opponent won't play their Akroma if you have a Control Magic, and you always know what to name for your Cabal Therapy.
In a situation where neither player can or wants to act, the game is a draw. So if your opponent's deck is Foil, Island, and Nether Spirit, and you would be unable to survive against a 2/2 that comes back every turn, you simply don't play any spells at all, and your opponent never has a way to play Foil and thus discard the Spirit. Since neither player is doing anything, it's a draw.
You don't get any mana to start out with, so your three cards must include something that can get you the mana you need.
You get no free mana. The three cards are all you ever get to do anything, from mana to winning. And assuming you want to win, it will have to be with those three cards alone.

Banned Decks:
*Any deck that can feasibly force your opponent to discard more than 1 card a turn. (The word force here is important. Mind Bomb is still legal, unless combined with Mindslaver ) (NOTE: Remove-From-Hand effects count as discarding)
*Any deck that can feasibly win on the first turn. (i.e. no matter who goes first, your deck cannot goldfish before the start of their second turn)
1. You may not submit a deck that can win before the opponent's first main phase.
2. You may not submit a deck that can force an opponent to lose more than one card from his or her hand in a single turn.
3. You may not submit a deck that uses a card on the 3CB banned list.
Other than the aforementioned, everything is handled exactly like a real game of Magic.
Clan Mono-Blue is in. Regardless if my clan is actually going to do anything. We'll just make it interesting in Round 1
You do realise that there's no eliminations, right? There are three rounds and you just try to get the most points over the three weeks (one round per week.) So all you have to do is submit a legal deck every week before friday and you can be in each round.
Even if you don't do well in the first round, you might have a better grasp on things and read the metagame better in the following rounds.
Ok, so once cards are used, they can't be used again? Period?
The winning deck will be banned for the next round. All of the 1-3 cards in the winning deck can't be used in the next round. (you can have multipes of cards in a deck, which is why I say 1-3.)
Let's say that the winning deck in round one is X,Y, and Z. X,Y, and Z is banned in round two, but they are legal again in round three. Of course a deck that's X, Y and B / Z,A,R are also banned.
Midnight tonight is the last moment to get in for round one. (Though Shadowlord seems to have gotten everyone's decks already, I think.)
Results on Monday the 21st after which we quibble about results and then the next decks are due on the following friday, the 25th.
I like that clan mono-blue went with a mono-blue deck. I don't know how they felt about being so close to the top spot and not snagging it, but I say points for style. Besides, The contest is about adding up points across rounds so they are still in a very good position.
In any case, the banned list has been updated to include this round's winning deck, courtesy of the Called. Congrats, guys!

Yeah, I'll change the results deadline to Tuesday, but in the interests of equity I'm not going to change the deadline for decks to be submitted. We'll stay on schedule. So decks are still due the 25th and any after that will be ignored.
Thallid is considered to be one of the most powerful creatures in this format. But I think you did w3ell because the meta favored your deck. It was kind of an less honed meta and more like the earliest days of 3cb, and against those kinds of decks, daze/island/threat works really well. So much of the results in 3cb depends on the meta, so a huge part of the decision about what to play is what you expect other people are going to play. It's a bigger part of the game than in normal magic.
Just a reminder to all of the clans in the contest, round 2 decks must be PM'd to Shadowlord by midnight tonight if you want to be in round 2. Yes, even if you want to submit the same deck, you must submit it again. And any clans not in round 1 are free to join the game for round 2 and round 3.
Round 2 is closed. (It closed last night at midnight EST when it became saturday.) Results will be up on Tuesday since Shadowlord is doing holiday stuff.
Also, a reminder: the decks for round 3 are still due on Friday, May 2nd even though results are coming back one day later in round 2. Also, the banned list will change for round 3 to reflect the round 2 winning deck.
Token [2] Swing for 1
Swing for 2
(9-12) [2 tokens]
Token [3]. Swing for 2
Swing (blocked by token)
(8-10) [2 tokens]
Repeat last turn
(7-8)
(6-6)
(5-4)
(3-2)
(2-dead)
It's important to note that Nether Spirit can't play defense since the tokens have flying. Even if he could though, the tokens still carry the day when on the play, although the combat math is a bit trickier.
Also, the Spikes should 6-0 the G.A. rather than 2-2 them. Arrogant Wurm has trample.
The Spikes - Izzit matchup should be 1-4 instead of 0-6. They attack every turn until the Epoc hits the table as a 4/4. Once that happens, they sit, and never block the epoc. The Izzit can't attack though, because they're losing the life race, and if they swing both sides do 4 per turn.
All told, your weekly final score should be:
1) The Called 30
2) Spikes 28
3) The Izzet 26
4) Greek Alliance 22
5) ARD 18
6) House Dimir 14
7) MTGS Brigade 11
8) Mono-Blue 6
(note: this means the Called deck rather than the GA deck should be banned for week 3)
I was told today that this kid on my team called 911 twice this morning and hung up both times. They called back and his dad answered. The reason the kid called 911? He got an erection and didn't know what to do. I wish I was making this up.
Since our deck submissions are due on Friday....does this mean we can use Shadowmoor in our submissions since it's technically legal?

I don't have a problem with it, but better ask the contest organizer as well....
I didn't have a problem with it personally, but in the interests of fairness, I went back and checked the rules to make sure they didn't prohibit Shadowmoor. The rules state that "All sets are legal," and that includes all fully-released sets, so Shadowmoor is legal for round 3. Arguably it was legal for rounds 1 and 2, but it certainly is for round 3. I'll put an announcement in the thread title so that everyone gets the message. Untesed cards will be a good way to finish up the last round anyway.
And I actually waited to post up the next banned deck because the results were so close. I think I can post the changes now, though I'm going to try to do the results for at least my matchups. I'm actually pretty horrible at figuring our 3CB results.

bah...
If you could at least illustrate why we lost both matches against them, we'd appriciate it.
