Enjoy your week away from the site, Danica. Like ether said, we're all here for you if you need anyone. I'll try and catch you on IM at some point :).
I know what you mean. Unfortunately, I'm much more a conversation joiner than a starter, so I tend to sit back and wait for something I'm interested in to turn up.
But for want of anything better: anyone else happy that winter's on its way in? The cold is just so much nicer than the heat.
Waahhhh nobody notices when i do well wishing i fel like sulking....
Anyways, cant say much regarding the weather..... since theres no snow here and the weather goes from heat to rain to heat again here:p, i do wish for snow though (im built for it, i cant stand heat:D)

Conversation does seem to be lacking in here recently. Josh and the other high charisma people seem to have either taken a break from the site or run off somewhere else entirely, so that's probably the cause.
Unfortunately low charisma, high wisdom people like myself don't know how to start a conversation, only keep it going ¬_¬;;

Good morning everyone i just got up about like an hour ago. Probably going to get something to eat then get ready for work I probably won't be back tonight though since ill be going over to my friend paul's house to play some halo 3 and probably other games as well.
@seph: Hopefully you will be able to get what you want seph.
Anyway I am planning on making yet another control deck for legacy this time with gigapede and mystic enforcer since both of them have great evasion and don't take much mana commitment in the mid to late game compared to cards like morphling and eternal dragon(even though it is still one of the best late game cards). Its also going to have meddling mage and gaddock teeg to trump cephalid breakfast, dread return from ichorid, and any tendrils of agony and empty of warrens based combo deck. Yet I am still going to make it viable enough to deal with threshold.
Have a good day everyone and see you all sometime tommorrow!
'Lo all, I just got back from surgery (don't worry, it was out-paintent (sp) so it was nothing bad), I had a cyst removed on my inner thigh (it hurt so much to walk at times, I'd almost cry). Now I have 6 stitches (3 inside and 3 outside) and can't do much of anything, so be prepared to see a lot of me over the next week (until I get those stitches removed, then its back to irl).
Wow. Busy weekend for me. Spent nearly all of Saturday with my friends. Went down Sunday to my local shop and saw a game of War Machine. Pretty fun miniature game and a lot to think about. I finally finished that legacy deck with Intet, although I think it needs more pyroclasms.
Samurai Soldier-- Awesome news on the job. Well done.
BuzzDX-- Good to hear that she's doing well enough to come home.
Omna-- I'm sorry to hear that. I hope the rest of your trip goes well. I'm here for you, as is everyone else here.
I'm probably going to get two of my midterms back today. The last one I have to wait until Monday for, and it's the one I'm least sure I did well on. I also have another midterm tomorrow in the most difficult class to stay awake in. So, I get to spend today attempting to study.

anyhow i am going to get ready for work in like 15 minutes ill talk to you all later though and have a good one everyone. I am still kinda tired though but i will manage.
I'm a little disappointed that it seems like no one is picking up DQM: Joker. I figured with all the pokénerds on MTGS, it would've been a no-brainer. Then again it is a Dragon Quest game, so nobody in the US is liable to know it exists. Guh.
The red ring problem is what makes me hesitant to buy a 360, really. But then again, the reason I wanted one was for Eternal Sonata and it's coming to the Ps3 soon anyway, so that makes a Ps3 purchase more plausible. As does the lower price tag. About time Sony did something right.

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.

It's actually quite popular right now (2nd most popular game at 1up right now). The problem is that, first, it's getting lost amongst the console titles (e.g., Assassin's Creed) and secondly, SE made it so only people who hack their own codes can really work the online game since it's been so severly bludgeoned to death online already. For those that don't know, except for a very few selective codes, using any code will mark all of your monsters with a flag. This flag says you can't use it online. The problem is that the public hackers who hack codes in the first place won't release the code that gets rid of that flag. I think that's a good thing for the majority - except it seems they're using it to pwn everyone else. Without FC's this game loses A LOT of it's charm for that reason since it's mainly one giant, fun level up and synthing session. I think the word of the level 10 requirement to synth is getting people who are too lazy to think twice about it as well...

Good news on this front for once: Elite's don't seem to get the red ring of death as easily I guess. As some of you may remember more than one of my friends have had to ship in their white 360 to Microsoft multiple times to fix the red ring problem - one had to even send his in five times. Well it seems three of them buckled and bought Elite's when they came out and they're doing much better. It's been 3 months now at least I think (probably more) and none have red ring'd yet (all of theirs red ring'd in a month or less).
But yeah, I'd think PS3 would be a safer bet now too considering they're finally releasing more than one good game every other month.
DInfiltrator: That honestly looks like it could use sticks over Pyros but then again it might need those too since I don't play a lot of Legacy...

More of you isn't really bad. But still, get better soon!... Betchya already can't wait to get rid of the stitches...
I'd totally be all over it - I really loved the earlier titles in the series, but game boys and game boy games cost dollars and I have not dollars. (To be fair, I have a few dollars, but they're earmarked for application fees and holiday-related expenses, and I have a hard time with the idea of borrowing money to buy games.) Maybe eventually.

Yeah, Alacar DID do an awesome job, and as necessary and very well-deserved, he now has credit due
Just got a copy of Brain Age from a friend.. Looking forward to playing that on my lovely DS
But yea, I'm gonna be up all night, due to packing and writing up two stupid papers...
But this post is to inform you all... I will very likely be absent from the forums/online for the next week, as I will be in Boston, where Ryan and I will be (as we have mutually decided on 6 months ago) ending our relationship...... This will be a difficult time for me in adjusting, and while Arguas still has a very special place in my heart, and here in the Coffeehouse, we have decided that due to my already more prominent participation, that I will from now on, be the owner, and we will just be known as the co-founders, no longer co-owners. Understandably, he will likely be absent from Salvation for awhile, just due to awkwardness in our individual positions, but this in particular the details still need to be ironed out, but he will nto be around much here in the Coffeehouse, due to our just needing our individual space and recovery time...
Basically, this means that I will still be here, but I'm just going to maybe be reaching out a bit to you all, so if I'm not my most cheery self, that would be why...
As for my absence, I don't expect to be online again until at least Monday, November 19th, when I'll be arriving in Palm Coast, Florida, due to travel time, just vegging, catching up on sleep, and no foreseen internet connection in Boston....
I will also be having an interview on Friday in Boston with the company Accufile, so good luck wishes would of course be appreciated
I would just like to add to this comment here and, even those this may seem strange, to thank you all for giving Omna support. You have been good friends to her, and have already said some words of encouragement as of right now. I'm really glad to see the level of support that she and I established this place to achieve, for all people. Even if conversation has slowed (from what I've heard), this is still well known as a warm and receptive place on the forums, and I will always be happy knowing that I had a part in creating it.
As Omna noted, I will not be around in the coffeehouse in particular for a while. I am also taking essentially a leave of absence from the site, for the reasons Omna mentioned, as well as I will likely be needing to redistribute my priorities as school is going to shift rapidly once I return. She and I both need to heal. Once that healing has happened though, I hope to return to the coffeehouse one day, and I hope to see that we still be alive, running, and serving up excellent conversation

Ouch! That certainly does sound painful, sir... I wish for you to have a speedy recovery so that you can get back to being active again in your life. It is free time to explore the interwebs though or other stationary things.

I am sorry to say that I was not aware that another DWM game (I will always call it Dragon Warrior, so nya) had come out. I played DWM and DWM2 with my friends, more so the former than the latter. Good times had by all... at the time, the friend I played the game with claimed it superior to Pokemon... which had its truths and its falsehoods. Just makes me curious as to what really has improved in Joker over previous versions... makes me think about checking into it later.
While I won't comment on the Red Ring issue (as I clearly don't know what it is about), I am happy that the Ps3 is starting to pick up steam to make it a bit more worthwhile to get. I have seen it as the biggest money sink in the market since it came out... glad to see it is starting to pull its own weight.
when it comes to video games, I'm always a few steps behind...got my SNES right before the N64 came out, still only have a GBA, not a SP or DS, and we got our PS2 6 months before the big wii/PS3/Xbox360 war started...

I actually had a GBA only myself for a while, and I tend to wait for the price to go down before I go out and get a system.
As for the deck, it's an interesting idea, but you're going to need enough early game control to be able to get out the Denizens. If that is your main win condition, I suggest Evacuation and some early control drop pieces... Whirlpool Whelm may not be a bad idea, same with some Rune Snags.
Then again, I'm not exactly good at constructed, even if I know general things that a deck should include... The strategy you have just happens to be a difficult one in particular, so how you handle the early game is really going to be important.
So yea, good to check in with you guys, even if my post was not very long... not exactly one of my infamous catch up posts, but just some things I noticed over the last few pages.
Thanks everyone I hope to one day see many of you again.
the friend I played the game with claimed it superior to Pokemon... which had its truths and its falsehoods
In general, I've found the breeding system much more engaging than the Pokemon counterpart, which is far and away the biggest sell for me. (The Pokemon breeding system on top of not allowing you to do -that- much that you wouldn't be able to do otherwise, uses an annoying as heck hatching system.) On the flip side, DWM 1, the game I have the most experience, felt a bit grindtastic in a lot of places, and because parent monsters are released as part of the breeding process, you sort of don't the chance to get emotionally attached to your monsters as much. (Corny, I know, but I have a very 'I did it my way' approach to games, and I like to get attached to my idiosyncratic group of pokemon.) Also, would it have killed them to let your guy walk faster? The one other strike against DWM is that the combat (at least in the first two) felt pretty shallow with very player choice involved. (The choices you must make while breeding seem to drown a bit in the mass of combats where the shallow movepool present in the first few games meant that every combat was the same.) Still, all in all, it's easy to see why someone would prefer DWM over the Pokemon series.
Itinerant Soldier: I haven't seen any good games coming out for ps3 . Also, ps3 isn't getting Mass Effect, which may be the next KOTOR.
Funny thing about Mass Effect. It's the only game that has yet to be released this holiday season that's exclusive to either compatible console. There's also this game called Haze for the PS3 that doesn't seem to be getting released on the 360 but I haven't heard anything about it.
As for the good games on the PS3 my friends who do have one can't say enough good things about Rachet and Clank Future. They're telling me it's far better than reviewed... Heavenly Sword already came out for the PS3 and that's obviously good and it seems Folklore got some positive give to it. And for some reason Wizards decided to release this card game on the thing.
The 360 has two mainstays on the exclusive market but boy are they blockbusters though eh? I can't say anyone of my friends is too into the Mass Effect thing. Frankly they think it sucks. Honestly, even I'm gonna say I'm caught up in the hype a bit. Makes me wish I had a 360.
But yeah, if you're not a Halo fan or a Mass Effect fan I can't see too much reason to care which you get in all honesty. Same goes for PS3 if you're not a God of War/Heavenly Sword, a Metal Gear Solid fan, or an FF fan and the latter two won't be released until next year... It's kinda sad that they literally seem almost too much alike lately, though.
Edit: OOOOHHHH! Post 4004... I like numbers like that.
2 days ago my dads fiances son (the afformentioned bum) girlfriend brought a pitbull to our house and locked it outside. I have a Mutt who goes CRAZY when it seesother dogs, so thats one huge problem.
He promised never to bring it again
He brought it again tonight
My dad goes awol saying you lied and that type of dog is illegal. The kid got mad AT MY DAD, because he GOT in his face. i was in my room shut with my dog in it. When they started trading expletives including the fiance who was yelling at both it was just rediculous to me- my dad was completely in the right, yet dumbass didn't stop.
At that point i walked in and pretty much scream STFU. the kid told me to shut up but then i did something straight out of a movie and picked him up( im 6"2 pretty buff, hes 5"8 druggie scrawny" and literally threw him out of the room. Then I GOT yelled at for doing this after he called me a ********er. Mindboggling, i wasnt even that mad.
wow the things that happen in life, im suprised he had the gall to piss me off, if we were playing real life mortal kombat, id beat him 10/10 100/100 1000/1000, and i mean MAUL him, but luckily because i have a sense of rationality i didn't even though i REALLY REALLY REALLY want to.
anyway here is another control deck i have been making for legacy its called threshold control. It plays like threshold but has a better late game via gigapede and exalted angel. However it can play like a traditional fish as well just not as aggressive in the early game. I played like 10 games against threshold with this deck and only lost 3 games not too shabby on my first testing sessions. It still needs more work though and so it is still in the preliminary stages but so far its been testing fairly well against some of the more consistent decks in the format. I might just scrap it though since I usually build control decks just for fun nowadays.
Ive been trying my best to talk and beg for my professor's mercy. I want to pass my Law subject..Im deserving to pass. Its just that his reason for failing me is too personal.. How annoying..
@fooly: sorry to hear about that man, it sure seems like a bad day to me, i dont know the whole story but i can see you are right to feel insulted and do what you did, sorry i cant be of more help
@ether and joyd: i just downloaded DQM:J (sorry name is too long :p)its a rom so i dont think ill be able to wi-fi with you all but any tips for a complete noob in breeding games as well as DQ?(last time i dealt with breeding was in FF7!!!!)
@Zaphod: Vini Vidi Vici my friend
and in that note: Tempus Fugit its almost christmas!!!!
edit: Sorry to hear about that Jun, can you maybe raise a complaint to the dean? i know some teachers will hate you for that but if you really deserve to pass then the dean should be able to help (and it sets a precedent that personal differences should not make a bias towards grading)

That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange eons even death may die.
Synthesis really caught my attention in Joker because it has striking similarities to the fusion system from Shin Megami Tensei 3. In other words, it's fun as hell. I still feel a connection to all the monsters I've synthed away, but in a way they're still "with me" because they went into creating that Zoma or Malroth who's kicking tail for me currently, y'know? Also, inheriting skillsets is a brilliant way of customizing monsters and making it feel much less like you're raising synth fodder, so to speak.
Every Dragon Quest game is a bit more of a grind than other RPGs of its kind, but that's part of the series' charm. In Joker, experience seems a little easier to come by than in earlier iterations; on the second island I was levelling monsters for synth pretty easily, especially against chimeara at night. I will say this much: I've had to grind half as much in Joker as I did in Diamond for the same results. Also, battles don't seem to drag so much because A) skillsets are much larger this time around and B) it's much easier to play the game on manual, giving commands every round. Enix streamlined a lot of the interface to make gameplay faster and a lot more enjoyable.
There is one thing I miss in Joker that was in the other DQM games: being able to change your monster's gender. Well, in the US release of Joker it's a charge of either positive, negative, or neutral. I guess Nintendo felt that little kids wouldn't be able to understand the concept of an intersexed monster all that easily, so they changed it. I don't mind so much because it makes naming much easier >_>;;
@ether and joyd: i just downloaded DQM:J (sorry name is too long :p)its a rom so i dont think ill be able to wi-fi with you all but any tips for a complete noob in breeding games as well as DQ?(last time i dealt with breeding was in FF7!!!!)
Are you planning on buying the game when/if it comes out in your region? Because if so, then I'll give you tips.
Sorry, Josh, it looks like someone's thrown a temper tantrum and said that P&PI leaders shouldn't be allowed to be nominated for Best WPL status. Though I'm tempted to anyway, partly to flash the metaphorical double-Vs, and also because I don't think your campaigns take any less creativity and effort than the other WPs do. I guess whatever field of life you're in, you get someone who's particularly stuck-up about it.
Yeah, I saw that. All I can really say is that ***** envy is sometimes a crippling mental disorder that affects not only the unendowed one, but the people around him.
One thing forum RPers will never understand is that in general pen and paper games take MUCH more creativity to craft. Especially complete mods that ignore canon concepts and make up entirely new rules like my campaigns do. When you have limitations to work around, you're forced to become more creative. I'd dare any colo elitist to take a look at my campaign information on Obsidian Portal and tell me it's not as good as Gutter World. I know for a fact that if they did tell me that, they'd be lying through their teeth. I'm proud of what I do and have done and I won't let immaturity and paranoia take that away from me =)
On a slight side note, I was vaguely considering trying to sign up as a DM, just to run a complete beginner's game of D20M. Whilst I doubt it would be much good, the only people who seem to be applying at the moment are those who have no experience, so it'd potentially be a fun learning curve for everyone. Though I'd have to come up with a story first... which was part of the fun ;).
I think the CA crowd still has some bitterness saved up for the Inn. Even though it isn't all that active right now it did kind of breathe new life into the colo in ways that normal world projects couldn't. Slump or no slump, it's a vital part of the forum.
And hell, I've gotten innumerable ideas for campaigns in the last few months but I decided to take a break for personal reasons and I'm not about to go back on that decision to make people I don't know or like happy. I'm running campaigns for real right now, with players I know will show up and actually play.
I say go for it on the DM front. You'd make a great addition to the team =)
@hunter44: well i really hope you will get your academic issues resolved soon and like always I wish you the best Jun.

Betchya already can't wait to get rid of the stitches...
in other news, I'm thinking about playing a "big fishie" deck at my local FNM the next few weeks...the idea is MUC with denizen of the deep with protective bubble as the win con. thoughts?

As Omna noted, I will not be around in the coffeehouse in particular for a while. I am also taking essentially a leave of absence from the site, for the reasons Omna mentioned, as well as I will likely be needing to redistribute my priorities as school is going to shift rapidly once I return. She and I both need to heal. Once that healing has happened though, I hope to return to the coffeehouse one day, and I hope to see that we still be alive, running, and serving up excellent conversation
I'm just picking one comment out among the numerous ones. Thanks everyone

Mindboggling, i wasnt even that mad.
wow the things that happen in life, im suprised he had the gall to piss me off, if we were playing real life mortal kombat, id beat him 10/10 100/100 1000/1000, and i mean MAUL him, but luckily because i have a sense of rationality i didn't even though i REALLY REALLY REALLY want to.

edit: Sorry to hear about that Jun, can you maybe raise a complaint to the dean? i know some teachers will hate you for that but if you really deserve to pass then the dean should be able to help (and it sets a precedent that personal differences should not make a bias towards grading)
There is one thing I miss in Joker that was in the other DQM games: being able to change your monster's gender. Well, in the US release of Joker it's a charge of either positive, negative, or neutral. I guess Nintendo felt that little kids wouldn't be able to understand the concept of an intersexed monster all that easily, so they changed it. I don't mind so much because it makes naming much easier >_>;;
Are you planning on buying the game when/if it comes out in your region? Because if so, then I'll give you tips.
I'm proud of what I do and have done and I won't let immaturity and paranoia take that away from me =)
I think the CA crowd still has some bitterness saved up for the Inn.
Good afternoon/night/morning everyone! Anyway i was staying up pretty late last night playing wild arms 5 i am on level 23 and im about almost 14 hours into the game not too bad.
