About Knights of the Old Republic... Is there really no other way I can get the game?? I don't want to get it if I don't like it.. that's the only problem I see with it... I did find a good copy of it on Amazon.com Used-Like New for 9.50... plus 3.99 for shipping, isn't tooooo bad, I guess. how much does it go for in the stores, anybody??
the local cd/dvd shops around here always seem to have it used for about 10 bux canadian. Also, Ive noticed a bundle at Electronic Botique and at Future Shop which has KOTOR, and two other Starwars games plus a trial to Galaxy for about $30.
RTS = Real-Time Strategy. Games like Civilization, Warcraft, Heroes of Might & Magic, Age of Empires, etc. fall into this category.
I haven't seen the new Civ, but all versions of Civ and Heroes of M&M I have seen have been turn based. They are kind of Hybrids though, so I can see why you think they are RTS.
Fun note. KOTOR is turn based, but the mechanics are worked out smoothly so it feels real time.
Yeah.. rumor mill's been freaking out recently over the newly appearing cards. Most of them look fantastic, and I am damn happy that the Muses are back. Seedborn is truly epic.
And Prodigal Pyromancer is in.. so.. I guess I can rest easy.
My big issue? Savannah Lions is gone. That, and no Rav Duals--Painlands instead.
XE: I'm crying that there are any dual-color lands in this thing at all. I wouldve preferred a more stagnant format for a change, honestly. The rest of that list makes me drool tho. Joiner Adept is one of my favorite cards that never quite made the big time... The hosers are pretty cool too... I just hope they can finally make a 3 mana LD card without breaking the format now that Stone Rain is gone... I love LD when its limited.
YM: I got it - names in my profile.
Coldsnap: I can't really stand the set myself. There were like two or three cool cards but besides those the set itself sucked. The mechanics made it suck more - I mean seriously... Recover and Snow were SOOO limited and snow couldn't even be used in draft thanks to the stupid rule they made about that...
For last week, I chose Hunter44. I apologize for the tardiness. Let's get on with this thing.
Hunter44, who answers to his screen name, Hunter, or Jun, joined MTGSalvation in November of 2006, after lurking as a guest for a while. His username is derived from his favorite anime, HunterXHunter--the lead character's number when he entered the hunter exams was #44. Eureka! He's really found his place in the Coffeehouse--it's his favorite spot on MTGS, besides the MonoGreen Aggro deck discussion thread.
Speaking of which, Ohran Viper is his favorite card. He loves its cheap cost for a fantastic pair of abilities. He says he can't find a green card that destroys and draws.. and I say he's never seen Rending Vines Green is his favorite color, and MonoGreen Aggro is his favorite deck. He enjoys all variations on it.
When he's not smashing face, he's spending time with his cute fiancee, and/or playing RPG games. He really has nothing else personal to say--he's usually alone in the house all day. He aspires to have a stable job, familly, and life after finishing his studies. He's starting his thesis soon!
Regarding the House, he enjoys the total randomness we can have, and loves Dreia's recipes. He doesn't have any specific words for any of us; he enjoys all of us.
That's LAST week's Regular of the Week. Sorry for the delay, Hunter.

Uber congratulations, Hunter! You definitely deserve it!
Sorry hunter i was working all day and all night and believe it or not i just came back from work. Yes just remember im yoda of legacy not standard. To be honest though i think im rather terrible with mono green aggro though and not that good at standard.
Congrats on Rotw hunter and i agree with nai you definetly deserve it. Also sorry about your loss alacar. *hugs*
welcome back strongbad i missed you.
Well i just wanted to pop in to check in for tonight so this will probably be my last post for tonight goodnight everyone and ill see you all tommorrow. I will be on aol messenger if anyone wants to talk though. See you all soon. *hugs and blows kisses to everyone*
Congrats Hunter! Though, I'm suprised you didn't put Stay as a geek MP3.
@ Alacar - I'm sorry to hear about the tourney, but still, you did very well! I can only hope that the coffeehouse has more top 8 finishes after regionals this weekend.
@ X I'm just happy that the painlands are in. This means I can continue to play my baby lightning angel, even if it's not quite ideal.
Birds really shocked me. I thought that wizards said they were not going to reprint it in a core set!? What the hell happened here?
Goblin Lore freaked me out. Mabey this means that other portal and starter goodies are fair game!
Seeing Savannah lions leave is unpleasing, but perhaps they will replace him with Jungle Lions. Just imagine the zoo possibilities! In fact, in honour of this new possibility, I am going to make a casual tribute deck.
As you can see, all of the creatures are real world creatures, so it has a true "zoo" feel to it. And just a note to the curious, because I know some eyebrows must have been raised at a "casual" deck sporting moxen. This deck falls into one very specific philosophy of casual magic. Where "casual" doesn't mean sub-optimal nor budget, but simply a deck designed outside of the consideration of any metagame. It's still trying to be as strong as it can be as a deck itself.

Looks pretty cool and pretty fun to play shah. Yes alacar did pretty well so congrats once again to him we are all proud of him. I am personally think i didnt do that great with mga and if i was a competent player with it which i am not I wouldve top 8 with it in my opinion.
Well just wanted to say good morning to everyone and i am pretty tired glad i only work 5 hours today then i am going to just come home and take a nap before i watch the nba finals. Ill talk to you all later tonight though and yay i dont have work tommorrow. See you all soon. *hugs and blows kisses to everyone*
I'm glad you like it Cecilia. I literally just threw it together, so it's not finished, but it's hard to screw up a deck like that! And I was trying to be very thematic.
So, my friends and I are all prepaired for regionals. Well, most of us. I'm playing Dragonstorm, one of my friends is playing Narcobridge and the other is torn between B/W/R slivers and a W/G aggro/metagame deck.
I'm just working on my sideboard at this point. I'm trying to give myself an edge in the dragonstorm matchup, because I feel, at this point, that it's my best bet at winning. here is what I'm thinking about
3 Detrevore - Against Dranalu and those lovely random regionals control decks.
4 Tormond's Crypt - Dredge
3 Trickbind - Dragonstorm
1 Numot, the devastator - to punish trickbind, and I can hardcast it
4 Ignorant Bliss - because discard is on a rise, between this and remand, I should last long enough.
So that's my sideboard. I just wish I could fit in 4 Repeal to help shore up the aggro match past 50/50. I just don't see a spot for it.
I could see shaving down to
2 Detrevore
3 Crypt
3 Trickbind
3 Ignorant Bliss
3 Repeal
1 Numot
But I just don't like those lowered numbers on some of my key cards.
It's really hard to predect my metagame this year, at least in my area. Last year I was very suprised by what people brought to the table. I always expect some form of aggro at any major event though, even if the meta is pushing against it.
I've been testing against aven mindcensor, and it hasn't been a huge roadblock. I usually find a dragon by the second or third dragonstorm, so while I don't win automatically, I am usually in a decent spot barring Wrath.
I think of it as being on the same lines with trickbind, only with trickbind I am certain to get one dragon, but with the bird it's 0-4 (but usually 2). I can't reliably cast the bird though, with only 4 gemstone mine and 4 lotus bloom to make white mana.
Shadow of doubt is good though, and I've considered it. I just like the fact that trickbind can't be countered no matter what.
I just know that If I manage to have the edge in the mirror, I will be setting pretty.
The ncie thing about Shadow of Doubt is you can play it in response to Gigadrowse targeting all your lands. If they're smart they'll Gigadrowse you before playing their mana spells and whatnot, but at least it buys you a turn and drops their storm count if Lotus Bloom came into play that turn.
Granted I've only used it thus far in my casual play, but I'm starting to wonder if maindecking Trickbind might be a good idea in lots of decks. At least it helps game 1 versus Dstorm, and it is so versatile it can be used to turn all sorts of situations to your advantage. Plus, Trickbind can mess with your opponent in so many wacky and unsuspecting ways, it's just plain fun.

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
Hmm, thats really insightful perspective for the dragonstorm matchup. It is a difficult deck to combat without a deck that already does it, so I might as well focus on my other matchups rather then bend over backwards to try to one up it.
One other little trick I've been messing around with is a (kindof) transformation sideboard by running 4 [card]Goblin Warrens[card] in the sideboard. I just don't know if it's really called for at this point. If Dranlu was expected in greater numbers, then it would be brilliant.
@Kraj - I've considered maindeck trickbind in some other decks, and it's not a bad idea if you can play it without taking away from your overall gameplan. I don't feel it's the correct choice for my dragonstorm, but it can be excelent in the right home.
Sorry I didn't respond to you earlier, Nai. How is your day going?
Tuesday wasn't such a bad day. Recently I've been letting my hair grow out, and I started starightening it (I like the way it looks so much more straightened). Anyway, while I was working, this guy I know there (a manager, he's a cool guy) came up to me and said, "[Mamelon], have you done something with your hair?"
I stopped. "Well, yes. Is it noticeable?"
"I sure noticed it."
I grinned. "So, do I look different?"
"Yeah. It looks straighter and longer. It looks good on you."
That was nice.

Man, it's been a while since I've watched any Gravitation. I'm not sure why - maybe it was the focus on music and the industry or maybe it was because I really identify with Shuichi - but I love that series.
It's got a lot of charm.
Plus, Shuichi is cute.
Gravitation is a good love story, but I have mixed feelings about it. It has "His and Hers" syndrome.

I've finished reading the first two Dune books. I have to say... The second one just flew over my head for the majority of it. I don't know why, but it went by so fast and so fluidly, I didn't retain much. Or maybe I did and not much happened. I bought the third one and am getting ready to read it.
It's a good one. A bit easier to read than Dune Messiah.
The on you need to watch out for is God Emperor of Dune. That one tends to be heady, and Emperor Leto is kind of abrasive and weird. Not to mention homophobic (But only when it comes to gay men - he kind of has a things against men in general).
I know how you feel. I used to be the same. I still have a voracious appetite for books, but I take my time now to get everything, instead of speed reading like I used to.
Yeah, I used to pretty much always have a book I was reading, sometimes two. Now, I hardly ever get new books, or even reread old ones. This is sad, because I love reading. I think it's mostly because I don't ever seem to find anything I feel like I want to read - a lot of the stuff I see on shelves seems overdone or just not my cup of tea.
That, and I'm tending to focus more on manga nowadays.
I never read David Eddings or Terry Brooks, but I heard they were good. I also enjoyed David Drake somewhat.

All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
Don't worry Kraj, we all get embarrassed some time...
Like me I sprained my wrist on Tuesday, so now I have to wear an annoying brace on it and its annoying and difificult to type.
Anyway, made a new banner shop, and need 1 more person for help so if anyone here would like to help out message me. This shop is called Microwavable Graphics.
It has been years since I ate a bowl of Ramen and watched anime at the same time. I knd of lost intrest in anime for a while...not sure why.
Makes me feel like my life is back on track.
Haha, this is what I do all the time. Although, I'm partial to the Maruchan chow-mein style of ramen. I just ate one a while ago - mmm, shrimp flavor. Good to hear you're feeling better though.
@SB:
Welcome back! I'd been wondering where you gotten to.
@Hunter:
RotW! Good for you.
Well, I've had quite the hellacious past day or so. Whew. I went up to WSU at six in the morning on Wednesday and got there around nine. Unfortunately, there was nobody there. Boo. I hung out and watched anime by myself until around 12:30, and then went and, as is oft my habit, ate at Red Lobster. $20 got me a combination fried shrimp/scampi/pasta platter meal, and made me amazingly content. Nothing like a ridculously good seafood lunch to brighten up your day. After that, I headed back and picked up where I left off watching anime up in the Honors dorm, and was finally joined by a couple of friends. Around 7pm, most everyone showed up, so we had seven-ish people, and we had a blast watching Gurren-Lagann. SOOOO hilarious.
I stayed up there *ENTIRELY* too late. I was swapping anime with one of my friends, and then another guy came by and wanted to watch the Hellsing OVA at around three in the morning... By the time I got out of there, it was a quarter till five in the morning. I had to be at work at 8:00am, and with a two hour drive home - well, it wasn't pretty. I don't know how I managed to make it home without falling asleep, but when I did get home at around 7:10am, I promptly called off work and fell asleep for a good 8 hours or so.
Stuff I came back with:
Full Metal Alchemist OVAs
Ah, My Goddess (season 1 and 2)
Project A-ko
Hayate no Gotoku (ep 1-3)
Devil May Cry (raw - ep1)
Yeah, that's right. There is a Devil May Cry anime. My friend had the RAW of the first episode, and gave me a copy of it. It's pretty wicked cool. I created a thread in entertainment about it, if you want to know more.
Sorry I didn't respond to you earlier, Nai. How is your day going?

Whoever said that courtesy clerk position is not easy is absolutely right. I had a pretty long day today even i worked 5 hours but still it felt like i worked like 12 hours. Not to mention i didnt get that much sleep before since i got off around 10pm last night so it felt like i didnt even leave the store at all. Thank goodness i have tommorrow off it was pretty killer these last couple of days for me.
I want to see mamelon too. *hugs mamelon*
see you all soon. *hugs everyone*

Yesterday, I had the option of buying KotOR 2, instead of the first one, since the store didn't have the first one... the sales guy said that both were pretty standalone, but I'm pretty much a sucker for sales people when they try to sell me stuff... But anyway, as I was walking out with KotOR 2 I saw the DS and GBA games, and I decided to pick up the GBA game Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories instead of KotOR 2.. I still havne't finished KH1, but I'm fairly close, so when I do finish, I'll have something KH related to play when I'm ready for it... Thoughts on that game?? Or on KotOR 2 ? Crimson told me the first and second of KotOR were made by two totally different designers so they have a real different feel... I look forward to playing Chain of Memories tho.. I'm a big fan of Kingdom Hearts in general and I haven't heard much about Chain of Memories but I still want to play it, just so that I can say I've played all 3 of the KH games once I've done so:p
Also, I'll be ready for the final mix..whenever that's coming out.. when IS that coming out anyway??? And hmm I want a real good computer game to play but I don't have anything... KotOR was gonna be it, but now I gotta stick w/ Bejeweled cuz i couldn't find it...
And of course, congratulations to Hunter on his RotW! As everyone has said, I shall echo... You do deserve it my friend.
Have a good night folks.. Off I go to try and shake off this funk I seem to be in...
thanks SNoop. I had a great sleep.;)
Yes its a very unique archetype indeed. I playtested it and it went well.

Thoughts anyone?
@Lions: So what are they gonna replace them with? Blade of the sixth pride? Lanterkn Kami?
Thanks for brainstorming with me FL!

3 Detrevore
4 Tormonds Crypt
3 Repeal
1 Numot, the devastator
4 Ignorant Bliss
How does this look?
Tuesday wasn't such a bad day. Recently I've been letting my hair grow out, and I started starightening it (I like the way it looks so much more straightened). Anyway, while I was working, this guy I know there (a manager, he's a cool guy) came up to me and said, "[Mamelon], have you done something with your hair?"
I stopped. "Well, yes. Is it noticeable?"
"I sure noticed it."
I grinned. "So, do I look different?"
"Yeah. It looks straighter and longer. It looks good on you."
That was nice.
It's got a lot of charm.
Plus, Shuichi is cute.
Gravitation is a good love story, but I have mixed feelings about it. It has "His and Hers" syndrome.

Like me I sprained my wrist on Tuesday, so now I have to wear an annoying brace on it and its annoying and difificult to type.
Anyway, made a new banner shop, and need 1 more person for help so if anyone here would like to help out message me. This shop is called Microwavable Graphics.
Haha, this is what I do all the time. Although, I'm partial to the Maruchan chow-mein style of ramen. I just ate one a while ago - mmm, shrimp flavor. Good to hear you're feeling better though.
@SB:
Welcome back! I'd been wondering where you gotten to.
@Hunter:
Now, time to work on my banner shop. *steps out*
Thanks guys! DO I really? *blushes*
Tee-hee. Maybe I was considering stay as a love MP3.
Thanks SnoopZ.
Wow mams I really want to see you! *giggles*
