Ugh. One thing I absolutely dispise about my job. Sometimes i meet somebody on the phone whom I click with on such a substantial level that it actually hurts to say goodbye.
I just spoke to a really amazing graphics designer in texas. she was very smart and creative and a joy to chat to. She obviously recognized me for what I was (she either assumed I was trans or that i was bi/les. I could hear the realization in her voice when she asked me to repeat my name and she realized i hadn't said chris and had said Trish. It was a cute happy sound in her voice. She rather quickly asked about KD Lang being Canadian and we had a discussion about how her coming out improved her career. She was also definately flirting with me through out the call, and responding well to me flirting with her.
Honestly, I cannot recall connecting with someone so well in ages. Sigh.
I likely will never speak to her again. Life sucks sometimes.
Don't get me wrong, I love Hugh Jackman, but every time I hear his name, this little lowbrow humor lightbulb goes off in my head and all I can think of is "Oh my god, that's the best pornstar name evar!"

Nice. I wish I wasn't on dialup.
Well, I'm going to be gone the rest of the day. Have fun everyone!

@Alcar: I love the card you made, Word of Blasting, but isn't it kind of good. I mean like cheap good. It costs 1 more then Stone rain and it can't be countered then it burns them if its an artifact. Draco=16 damage =)! I love flavor text though, man people love using Jaya quotes.
I want to go make a deck on MWS just for fun anyone got any ideas of what I should make?? Thanks, need a lot of idea.
Pillage = 1RR
Split Second = + 1/2 to +1 mana
The damage aspect = +1 to 2 mana
Bare minimum this should cost if rare is 3RR since they tend to round up.
And if your opponent has Draco in play, they deserve to take 16 damage.
very cool card though. I could see it squeezing into a set at 4 mana, but not likely. LD tends to get costed on the High end. A good fix would be to make it 1RRR.

Howdy everyone.. Man, the 'House really IS slow recently... I was reading back before I posted yesterday, and you guys were talking about how slow it's been.. I wonder what's been happening.. Maybe people are on vacation now or something... I'm finally back in the groove... So I'm back, its good to read peoples posts, but its a little shocking when I click refresh there isn't a new batch of posts
Hey now, interesting thing here, I get this on an offsite place, if you want the URL, PM me.. its about how the Universe sends messages to people.. really cool, but I wanted to share something that was sent to me this morning.
Fear always goes away, Danica, once two things are realized: First, you're a spiritual being. Second, nothing can ever be lost or taken from a spiritual being that cannot be recreated. Not pride, not money, not love.
Bet they'd love to have you in the CIA, Danica.
LOL.... seriously, this has just the most AMAZING TIMING, because I've been extremely fearful regarding Ryan's and my relationship because he was informing me of a... risk, that I was not exactly helping, by being overly paranoid, and by informing of me this risk, he was making me even MORE paranoid.... so, I'm not trying to really give a lot of details, nor am I asking for advice or anything, but seriously, the timing of that email was uncanny.... Suffice it to say that I was just being overly paranoid and I just really really was not helping things by it, and so now, I'm really happy to see that message, because thats the Universe's way of saying, "hey... wake up! Don't be afraid!" It really is amazing how they hit the nail on the head like that. I guess I just wanted to share that
Also, I just finished reading a chapter from my book, "The Child That Books Built," and the chapter was about C.S. Lewis' Narnia... Did anyone read those books? What was your opinion?? I know some of you have read Ursula K. LeGuin's books, which is being made into an anime, and that is, I believe, somewhat similar in genre to the Narnia series, but c'mon folks... Can anything beat the true raw genius that is Narnia? It, I believe, is a book that many have grown up with, including myself. I have grown up with many others as well... But seriously... Hostess question!
What is the book/series you remember reading as you grew up? If you truly don't like reading or didn't read growing up, (SHAME ON YOU ;)) you can pick a movie I suppose
I look forward to all your responses... Perhaps that will jumpstart some conversation in here!
EDIT: Thanks for the welcome back, Alacar.. It means a lot comin' from you Ally buddy-o!
Shazzy, wonderful to see you back as well... Shame about your dial-up! If I had more money to spare, I'd certainly dip a hand in to help you out!
Kevin, have a great day at work tomorrow, and don't stress out too much, we love having your cheerful face in the 'House!
Mr. Bloody-Minded! Great to see you as well... Though, I must echo Hunter's statement... weren't you a Mod at one point? Perhaps I missed something while I was gone.
KK, welcome back!

Everyone, I've calmed down now, but I just had the worst, nightmarish experience. As many of you know, I'm arachnophobic in a pretty serious way.
Wel, I was walking through the kitchen, and saw this big, fat spider slowly crawling along the floor and decided to stomp it.
I did, and like 100 little tiny baby spiders swarmed out around my foott!!!!!
It took all the self control I had to run into storage and get some bug spray.. and after dealing with that.. i just freaked the hell out! Like, I was shaking uncontrolably and just.. ugg it was Horrible! I kept taking my pants off and shaking them, and runing water on my leg and such. I swear, I lost it for several minutes there.
But I've calmed down now. I'm just about to run to this fabulous used bookseller. This place is massive and that should make up for my nightmarish experience from earlier.

Hehe, thank you Omna, that's a sweet sentiment.
The first book series I remember reading was A Wrinkle in Time. I just loved that and read it over and over till my book fell apart. I also read the Lord of the Rings, and as Tanthalas said, it's a bit of an uphill battle for a child, especially reading it alone. I also read some Stephen King when I was young. I fondly remeber the Talisman and Eye of the Dragon, both fun reads.
When I was in my mid teens, I branced out, and started reading Tom Robbins books
Funny thing about me, I never read Narnia until I was older. This one winter, my friend Daniel and his girlfriend threw these lovely little parties downtown at their appartment with me and two other couples, and we all sat around his fireplace, drinking hot cocco and taking turns reading the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe outloud to eachother. I don't know if it sounds silly or not, but it wasnt. It was just wholesome and cozey.
I used to read a LOT of books when I was a kid. I think the series that really got me into reading was the Wrinkle in Time series; there was something fantastic, but so familiar about it all that I couldn't put any of those books down. I remember getting the assignment in my advanced reading class in third grade to read "A Wrinkle in Time" and I knew nothing of it. So I picked up the book in the reading room of our library and the first seven words just got me. "It was a dark and stormy night." Awesome.
Then there was Bunnicula. Classic book, that, and the sequel wasn't half bad either.
I never read the Narnia books during my childhood, unfortunately. Most of my literary experience was a bit unorthodox. Terry Brooks was a lasting presence in our household, as was David Eddings. They gave me a love of fantasy and a hunger to write that I still have, even if it is subdued and kind of rusty.
@Sha: OH SWEET JESUS. I'm glad you're okay. God knows I'd probably react exactly the same way you did >_<;;

@Spiders: Gahd that really sounds freaky! The feeling of things crawling up and down is just eekie...
@Book: I remember when I was a kid the first book I read was some book by Michael Chricton (is that the right spelling?)... hmmm... I only read Harry Potter stuff when I was eleven... I'm an avid reader now of any kind of book.
---
Well, I'm going to take a month or so off from MTGS to adjust to college life. I'll stop by and say hi... promise. HiHi.
What is the book/series you remember reading as you grew up?
It's kinda funny. Before I read anyone else's responses the first book that came to mind was A Wrinkle in Time. Loved it when I was younger, love it now. I don't read a lot and really hated reading as a kid. I tend to read a book and if I don't like it I don't finish, but if I like it I'll read it over again every couple years and each time I'll get something new out of it.
A lot of books I read when I was younger were more fluffy; not really classics or anything, just stories I enjoyed. I remember reading some Nancy Drew, a total chick book called "In Summer Light", a cool kids story called "The Egypt Game", a couple of those adolescent horror books by R.L. Stine and the like, and "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweller". I'm sure there are some others, but those are what spring to mind.

Ugh, more nightmares. Nightmares should be banned or errated.
Actually there might be a way you can prevent from having nightmares even though i dont believe in it really but some people do and thats a dreamcatcher . I have a friend that has a dreamcatcher and she hasnt had nightmares since she got the dreamcatcher of course she's a big fan of the native indian culture so thats probably why.
@omna: thanks omna you have a good day as well!

In my opinion i think tarmogoyf is probably the best creature in threshold since it can still get pretty big without having 7 cards or more in the graveyard and it can still be a decent attacker or blocker if they decide to tormod's crypt or withered wretch your entire grave since threshold has plenty of cards to refill the grave with. Although you have stifles and trickbinds to counter crypts and you can remove withered wretch with ease with lightning bolt or fire/ice. Plus stifle and trickbind gives you a big advantage when you play the mirror threshold match since almost every threshold deck runs 7 or 8 fetchlands.
Well time for me to eat breakfast everyone see you all later this afternoon or night. Have a great night or day everyone!
I wouldnt mind some of Mamelon's Oatmeal cookies though for breakfast i bet they are really good to eat.

I actually wonder if Quirion Dryad might be decent these days. I've loved that card. When I got back into magic after my long break, it was during invasion, and that card was one of my favorites back then.
Mmm, I want some of Mamelons oatmeal cookies too. Please no rasins though.
Thanks again, 'Cec. You don't have to keep refining the deck for me, though I do appreciate it. It'll probably be a while before I can gather the cards to put the deck together.
Most of you will probably find this completely uninteresting, but it's news of my life, so whatever... The apartment building Brad and I live in was recently purchased and is being converted into condos. The prices being asked are absolutely outrageous, so we're now looking for living options elsewhere. Things are very up in the air right now since we won't have to move until October, but there is the possibility of increased rent or even a mortgage in the near future for me, so I have to discpline myself and not spend any money on Magic for a while.

Yeah i think quiron dryad is awesome in UGR threshold especially it should be 4 of though but that shouldn't be much of a problem with all of the blue draw and fast red instant damage that the deck can use considering ive seen some threshold lists that do pretty well with only 2 dryads. Some people even prefer using quiron dryad instead of dragon like i remember seeing a UGR threshold list that top 8 at the recent GP used this creature base.
So there is another creature base you can use Kraj if your having trouble finding fledgling dragons and tarmogoyfs. Or you can combine all of the creatures you have available to make your very own creature base and that works pretty well too. Oh okay Kraj just wanted to give you more options to work with and thats fine threshold is very resilient deck anyway so im sure itll be still be a good deck to use by the time you get all of the cards.

It was just wholesome and cozey.
...only in the south.
@Sha: OH SWEET JESUS. I'm glad you're okay. God knows I'd probably react exactly the same way you did >_<;;
@Spiders: Gahd that really sounds freaky! The feeling of things crawling up and down is just eekie...
@Book: I remember when I was a kid the first book I read was some book by Michael Chricton (is that the right spelling?)... hmmm... I only read Harry Potter stuff when I was eleven... I'm an avid reader now of any kind of book.

Well, I'm going to take a month or so off from MTGS to adjust to college life. I'll stop by and say hi... promise. HiHi.

I have a friend that has a dreamcatcher and she hasnt had nightmares since she got the dreamcatcher of course she's a big fan of the native indian culture so thats probably why.

ohhh that wouldnt be a good card to use against coffee-finement. lol
Kraj i think you should use this for your creature base if your going to play UGR threshold you dont have to though.
2 Fledgling Dragon
3 Tarmogoyf
4 Werebear
See you all soon. *hugs and blows kisses*

I actually wonder if Quirion Dryad might be decent these days. I've loved that card. When I got back into magic after my long break, it was during invasion, and that card was one of my favorites back then.
Mmm, I want some of Mamelons oatmeal cookies too. Please no rasins though.

4 Quiron Dryad
4 Werebear
So there is another creature base you can use Kraj if your having trouble finding fledgling dragons and tarmogoyfs. Or you can combine all of the creatures you have available to make your very own creature base and that works pretty well too. Oh okay Kraj just wanted to give you more options to work with and thats fine threshold is very resilient deck anyway so im sure itll be still be a good deck to use by the time you get all of the cards.
