Top 5 things which prove my Customers are all stupid.
1) When the installer is asking for information to set up the Fax cover page. "What is a Voice Phone Number?" This statement is heard on 90% of my installation calls.
2) "Can you do XXXX?", as I ask the customer to do something. "Ok", followed by some silence. Finally, I ask "Are you done." "Yes, I was waiting for you." People seem to think I can see what they are doing. Even saying "Tell me when you are done" does not help. This happens on half of my calls.
3) "Can you delete/remove anything you see with HP at the beginning of its name?" Customer deletes some things. "What about this hpxxxxx?" "Yes please, anything with HP." "Is the hpxxxxx and HP file as well?" "Yes, anything that starts with HP please." "It was lower cased, I was not sure." 90% of customers have this issue.
4) "My printer will not install." "OK, where in the installation are you." "It says select your device." This is one of the following 90% of the time; A) Printer not turned on. B) USB cable not plugged in C) The printer shows up, but they do not realize to click on it so they can click next. The first two is the result of them reading the Windows instructions half the time, which itself is stupid. These are calls from Mac customers.
5) "Can you right-click on the icon" This one happened to Jenny, my ex. Took 15 minutes. The guy couldn't right-click for some reason. Mouse worked fine otherwise. Finally she figured it out when he said "Can you hold on a minute, I have no more room on this piece of paper?" I would put this higher, but it only happened once.
Does anyone know if DQ9 is a 3 or 4 person party system yet? I know it's not gonna come out here till next year sometime but I'm definitely picking up Wi-Fi so if interested in a party member I should be around. Note: For lack of a better term I'd be a Paladin - AKA that guy that heals and buffs everyone else then charges for massive damage.
Edit: Booo to the guy who stole Doug's stuff. I know exactly what its like to have stuff stolen...
Shah: Wi-Fi itself really isn't that expensive. Wi-Fi dongles cost only about 30 bucks... Of course it might not be worth it if you dont know a lot of people to play online with.
I believe Ether said it was a 4 person party system.
Does a WiFi Dongle take the place of an actual wifi? Like a cheap way to connect to the network? If so, that would be worth it for me, as long as we played DQ9 on it, it would be worth a thirty dollar investment.
It's time for a special Coffeehouse Anniversary Edition of..
Regular of the Week
Since the Coffeehouse is 1 year old, this week's Regular is.. you! Everyone! To continue discussion on the House, and to let us all get to know each other a little more, feel free to answer the following questions. Please, be succinct. I wanna have some material to use for future RotWs
1. What do you prefer to be called?
2. What's the meaning behind your screen name?
3. When did you first come to MTGS, and why?
4. Where is your favorite place to visit on MTGS?
5. What is your favorite card in MTG, and why?
6. What's your favorite/current deck, and tell us a bit about it.
7. What other hobbies do you have?
8. Tell us a bit about yourself- it can be anything, so long as it is something we may not know and you are comfortable sharing it.
9. What are some of your hopes and dreams?
10. Are you currently working on any creative or personal projects? If so, tell us a bit more about them.
11. What's your favorite thing about the Coffeehouse?
12. What's your favorite menu item at the Coffeehouse?
13. Name someone in the Coffeehouse you really admire/enjoy having around.
Yes, I know, it seems a little lazy on my part, but keep in mind that future RotWs will have different answers than the ones you supply now.
And also.. The Magic Coffeehouse Presents
The Waffle Iron Chronicles A Year of Geek Mp3s, compiled onto four CD-length volumes of mp3s.
The Photon Menace- Kicking things off with a series of good feelin' tunes, with a building collection of rocking battle songs.
Attack of the Scones- This one takes a lighter look and showcases our comical songs.
A New Soap(Operahouse)- We end with our romantic music, gentle music, and melancholy stuff, with a bit of fun.
The above links are to four .zip files, containing the songs for each. I've alraedy prepped them for iTunes use, and they are long enough to burn on a CD. I have since deleted the individual links to the Mp3s.
Volume 5: The Empire's Eight-Track and Volume 6: The Refill of the Jedi will come one after another as I add new Mp3s. When I have enough for an album, I'll release it.
Does a WiFi Dongle take the place of an actual wifi? Like a cheap way to connect to the network? If so, that would be worth it for me, as long as we played DQ9 on it, it would be worth a thirty dollar investment.
It creates a WiFi network using your home internet connection as a base. Lookie right here to see what one looks like. Note: Datel also makes one called the WiFiMax that apparently works as well.
Nice one, Alacar. Hopefully it will go over better than Time's Person of the Year
Some of these were covered in my RotW, so for those I'll come up with a different answer.
1. What do you prefer to be called? Sexy.
2. What's the meaning behind your screen name? It's a cryptogram. If you shift all the letters one up the alphabet you get "Jqzi", which of course is shorthand for jacuzzi, my favorite place to be called sexy.
3. When did you first come to MTGS, and why? I was running down a dream that never would come to me. You know... working on a mystery, going whever it leads.
4. Where is your favorite place to visit on MTGS? The Gutter. Cuz that's where all the cool boys hang out.
6. What's your favorite/current deck, and tell us a bit about it. Probably the only competitive deck I've put together is RG aggro, which is fun to play but too net-decky. If I had the spare change, I'd buy the expensive bits to put together a silly little UB control doohicky that wins either via Glimpse or a Glimpse-fueled Avatar of Woe.
7. What other hobbies do you have? I like to read, play all sorts of games (from Myst to Chess to Pinochle), take long walks, sing, and be sexy.
8. Tell us a bit about yourself- it can be anything, so long as it is something we may not know and you are comfortable sharing it. I recently discovered I'm double jointed in my knuckles. I can bend them back to queasifying angles (though not so far as to touch my fingernails to my wrist). I can also pull my left shoulder (the tatooed one) out of the socket.
9. What are some of your hopes and dreams? Really just to be happy. I do hope to be absolutely adored by my niece, though. You know, to be the cool uncle she can talk to when it's weird to talk to mom or dad.
10. Are you currently working on any creative or personal projects? If so, tell us a bit more about them. I dropped the project I was working on last time I was asked because it wasn't working out from a design standpoint. I'm now working on a smaller and less ambitious project that I'm doing just for fun. It's inspired by the music of my favorite artist. We'll see how it works out.
11. What's your favorite thing about the Coffeehouse? Photon's sarcasm. No, really.... Actually I just love you all.
12. What's your favorite menu item at the Coffeehouse? Tiramisu. And the Smexy-ade.
13. Name someone in the Coffeehouse you really admire/enjoy having around. Hmmm... someone I didn't mention last time. You know, I'll say Photon. Besides being funny and despite pissing me off somewhat regularly, he's the type of person who can get involved in a total dramafest one day but move on and be friendly the next. I really respect that.
Hi. I don't play magic that much, but I have a mean blue-white control-aggro deck with a consistent losing streak... and for some reason I don't really care. I'm into those cute anime like Magical Meow Meow Taruto and Princess Tutu. I photoshop a lot. Born a skatergal.
Yeah, anyway I made my introdcution thing over at the introduce yourself part. I'd like to stay in this clan though. Get to know a lot a people. Read stuff. Nice. You guys don't mind if I stick around?
This looks really cute, and is short, only 12 episodes. I might have to give it a look. Also, Princess Tutu?! Dancing ballerina anteaters and cat instructors that threaten to marry you, and a princess who is also a duck... and that's just the first two episodes.
Nice to meet you, and I hope you stick around.
@Myta:
Not that you'll probably see this, but best of luck. Glad to know ya the short time you were here.
@Shin:
Your friend's deck got stolen? I must have missed a post or something, because I'd not heard of this before. Also - I TOTALLY know what you mean about people not having common sense. I take a lot of inbound calls as well, and people still manage to screw them up, even though I take calls for donations/product-orders for christian organizations.
Well, I need to get off home so I can finish photoshopping my wallpaper - and I need to do that before tomorrow, because tomorrow I'll be at the prerelease in Columbus, OH all day. See ya later, peeps.
1. What do you prefer to be called? Danica.
2. What's the meaning behind your screen name? It means I'ma eat your photons, *****.
3. When did you first come to MTGS, and why? I have no freaking clue.
4. Where is your favorite place to visit on MTGS? The "you have been logged out" screen.
5. What is your favorite card in MTG, and why? My answer is typically Pristine Angel, but more and more I am starting to change my opinion towards other cards.
6. What's your favorite/current deck, and tell us a bit about it. Purify, RW Pristine Angel/Concerted Effort Aggro Controllish sort of number.
7. What other hobbies do you have? None, MTGS is all I have. I don't even play Magic anymore, which is the sad thing. Actually, in all seriousness: tabletop gaming, RPGs, photography, poetry, tea, and the perennial favorite, setting small, controlled fires in people's front lawns.
8. Tell us a bit about yourself- it can be anything, so long as it is something we may not know and you are comfortable sharing it. As I shared last night in chat, I used to be part of a Christian rap group when I was ten. Yeah, I know, I totally don't know how to answer for it, either.
9. What are some of your hopes and dreams? I'm not feeling hopeful or dreamful today, so I'm going to skip this one.
10. Are you currently working on any creative or personal projects? If so, tell us a bit more about them. Yes, always. Not up to sharing details at the moment, if I want you to know I would have shared already.
11. What's your favorite thing about the Coffeehouse? I have no idea.
12. What's your favorite menu item at the Coffeehouse? I have no idea. I don't really do the RP thing anymore.
13. Name someone in the Coffeehouse you really admire/enjoy having around. Kraj, because he pisses me off regularly.
Hi everybody. I just got back from my Chiropractor. I feel great. Just a little residual soreness from where the muscle was pulled, but that will be gone tomorow. I'm really relaxed now, and a little tired, so I'll join Shadowfox in filling out the questions tomorow.
1. What do you prefer to be called? Chun Li YATAH!!! if you don't, I'll crush your head between my thighs like it were a walnut 2. What's the meaning behind your screen name? I have this thing on my body, its called a shin...so I just go with that. I sneezed one day, and attached the sound to Shin to make it sound cooler. 3. When did you first come to MTGS, and why? MTGS? Holy crap I wasted a year here...no wonder I can't find any decent Pr0nz 4. Where is your favorite place to visit on MTGS? The coffee house. Still hoping to trade cam time with someone real sexy. Photon keeps trying to charge me for it though. 5. What is your favorite card in MTG, and why? Earthbind ZOMG I FUND TEH PR0NZ!!!!one! 6. What's your favorite/current deck, and tell us a bit about it. Seeing as this appears to unfortunately be a family site, I will avoid this discussion. 7. What other hobbies do you have? O_o * ShinSakura does a Wikipedia search.
Wow learned a new word today. Now I feel so shallow and two dimensional. 8. Tell us a bit about yourself- it can be anything, so long as it is something we may not know and you are comfortable sharing it. :Cough.:
Ummmm
Does that thing with the spaghetti count? 9. What are some of your hopes and dreams?
See number 6 10. Are you currently working on any creative or personal projects? If so, tell us a bit more about them. I cannot divulge...but when Fedex delivers all the helmets with the probe arms and antenae's please read the intsructions carefully and put them on, bet they sure will make you look smexy, chicks will dig you. 11. What's your favorite thing about the Coffeehouse? That you are all fool's Bwahahahahaha. Makes me laugh. Fool's I say!!! 12. What's your favorite menu item at the Coffeehouse? Still waiting on my Bubble Tea Alacar :Glare: 13. Name someone in the Coffeehouse you really admire/enjoy having around. Photon. When he posts it redeems my place in the universe.
seriously.....
1. What do you prefer to be called? Sakura, Saki, Saki-chan, Sakura-chan, Trish, Princess 2. What's the meaning behind your screen name? I have been using Shin for years. Means 'True' or 'From heaven'. Sakura is a Japanese name I find pretty, and is my first name. It means Cherry Blossoms. 3. When did you first come to MTGS, and why? Bored and looking for something to do at work. 4. Where is your favorite place to visit on MTGS? The House, Natch. 5. What is your favorite card in MTG, and why? I answered Orim's Chant last time. Name someone in the Coffeehouse you really admire/enjoy having around. I named alot of people last time, but this time I will name one who stands out at the moment. Omna. I only just recently found out she is mostly deaf...yet she is taking a public speaking course. That kind of strength amazes me and garners alot of respect.
Haha...Alababes...Sweet, you used my name ideas for Vol 5 and 6. * ShinSakura feels special.
Pansit. Thanks, I never really knew how to spell that. Sure you can't cook anything up? It won't be mama's cookin', but I could use some home made right about now.

1. What do you prefer to be called? Dave/David/Joyd
2. What's the meaning behind your screen name? If you shift the letters in "Kraj" back by 1, 3, 2, and 6, you get 'Joyd'. 1326 is my campus mailbox. (It's actually the past tense of the verb 'joy' with the 'e' dropped.

And Hunter, would that game be called Nintendogs by any chance? It's quite popular from what i understand... I kinda wanted the Labrador and friends one.
YUP thats the one!! Nintendogs. Thanks for remindin'!
No word on the stolen deck. If it cannot be found (most likely) then I am giving all of my cards to Doug to compensate for the loss of his cards. Which will mean no more paper Magic for me.
Ahw thats too bad. Damn those thieves..Anwyay, have you received the pm I sent you? Its about the Avvy I requested..Thanks

Random thought: When I was a kid I used to believe that the devil lived in the sun because my analogy was always "Sun=hot; hell=hot, therefore sun=hell. Therefore the devil lives in the sun."
Has anyone believed in this when they were kids?

Uhm Im I think its okay since there are really words between co-Filipinos that we couldnt usually say in English. Just remember to italize them nalang. Ok?
Im always playing Standard even if I started the game At invasion block. You like my decks? Where have you seen my lists? I often Use my MGA interchanging archetypes, since My fiance pretty much uses my snow white all the time.
Just wanted to stop in and post the following video. You can find it on YouTube, but the Google Video is a little bigger on your screen (you can download it and/or watch it full screen anyways from the Google Vid)
Haloid
An awesome machinima video of a Spartan from Halo, squaring off against Samus from Metroid. Custom models were used for Samus, and I have to say, it is one of the best machinimas I've seen since Male Restroom Etiquette

I really respect that.

@Myta:
Not that you'll probably see this, but best of luck. Glad to know ya the short time you were here.
@Shin:
@CA - Thanks man. I'll check into it.
2. What's the meaning behind your screen name? I have this thing on my body, its called a shin...so I just go with that. I sneezed one day, and attached the sound to Shin to make it sound cooler.
3. When did you first come to MTGS, and why? MTGS? Holy crap I wasted a year here...no wonder I can't find any decent Pr0nz
* ShinSakura does a Wikipedia search.
Wow learned a new word today. Now I feel so shallow and two dimensional.
8. Tell us a bit about yourself- it can be anything, so long as it is something we may not know and you are comfortable sharing it. :Cough.:
Ummmm
Does that thing with the spaghetti count?

10. Are you currently working on any creative or personal projects? If so, tell us a bit more about them. 3. When did you first come to MTGS, and why? Bored and looking for something to do at work.
4. Where is your favorite place to visit on MTGS? The House, Natch.
5. What is your favorite card in MTG, and why? I answered Orim's Chant last time. Its a big stickable pile of 'NO!!!'.
6. What's your favorite/current deck, and tell us a bit about it. I don't play IRL anymore...and I build so many random decks on MTGO it is hard to answer.
7. What other hobbies do you have? Poetry. See my signature. Photoshop. Video Games. RPG's. Shopping.
8. Tell us a bit about yourself- it can be anything, so long as it is something we may not know and you are comfortable sharing it. I really have no idea what to say here....I am generally very open to you guys.
9. What are some of your hopes and dreams? Biggest goal at the moment is to get my hormones started.
10. Are you currently working on any creative or personal projects? If so, tell us a bit more about them. My poetry project. It is a book I am working on which is a collection of poems about my Transition.

12. What's your favorite menu item at the Coffeehouse? Me I'm on the menu. Someone should order me, I'm yummy.

Current favorite Magic card is Time Elemental
2. What's the meaning behind your screen name? If you shift the letters in "Kraj" back by 1, 3, 2, and 6, you get 'Joyd'. 1326 is my campus mailbox. (It's actually the past tense of the verb 'joy' with the 'e' dropped.
3. When did you first come to MTGS, and why? Probably to correct someone in CCM. I was originally attracted to the site by the spoilers.
4. Where is your favorite place to visit on MTGS? Here, I guess. I dunno.
5. What is your favorite card in MTG, and why? I like Blind Hunter, and tend to put Sword of Fire and Ice in any deck with creatures in it. I have a lot, I guess.
6. What's your favorite/current deck, and tell us a bit about it. W/p energy removal. My build almost uses the energy removal as a backup plan, though I still run 4 ER and 4 SER. No way to recur them, though.
7. What other hobbies do you have? I dunno. Normal stuff.
8. Tell us a bit about yourself- it can be anything, so long as it is something we may not know and you are comfortable sharing it. I ALWAYS finish things I start.

Random thought: When I was a kid I used to believe that the devil lived in the sun because my analogy was always "Sun=hot; hell=hot, therefore sun=hell. Therefore the devil lives in the sun."
Has anyone believed in this when they were kids?

@Hunter44: I like your decks, what do you use mostly? I use black now. Extended, but I'm your ordinary casual player.

Haloid
An awesome machinima video of a Spartan from Halo, squaring off against Samus from Metroid. Custom models were used for Samus, and I have to say, it is one of the best machinimas I've seen since Male Restroom Etiquette
