Pshh, kids these day. Presuming to lecture me on what things mean in Japanese, like I don't already know.
I know what you mean about the quality of our artwork production though. Disney was the only real champion of traditional animation in the U.S. (Read - the only one really big enough to put out more than a few traditional animated movies in theatres). So what's Disney doing these days? Making unnescessary sequels to everything in sight, and ditching traditional animation completely in lieu of CGI. Up yours, Disney. Art is not inherently better just because it's computer generated. It's like the difference between oil and watercolor paintings. They can both be awesome, you know? And don't even get me started on American critics, ratings boards, execs, studios, or whoever that won't release serious animation. Things don't have to be either kiddy or consist of inane adult jokes and toilet humor to succeed, people. Ugh.
Yes. That dragon is hot. On the surface, his ability seems like redundant pump, but it's really an uber berzerk. If you manage to give him a bit of help, he can end the game in one swing.
I also really love the potential of him in dragonstorm. It gives the deck some interesting options. Lets say it's game two, and you know your opponent has brought in some strong sideboard cards against you. The gigadrowse is just not showing up, but on turn three you have a seething song and this dragon. Just go to town! Your hand isn't suffering too much at this point, and all those cute sideboard cards are not likely to stop a turn three hastey flier swinging into the red zone. All the time, you are setting up for a lethal storm count while your opponent is forced to deal with your little dragon.
I like.
Edit: I'm glad you realized I was just playing Mr. Stuff. Sometimes it's hard to express tone on the internet. Seriously though, Im very much hoping that america starts poping out some quality animation. It's such untapped field over here. Speaking of Disney, didn't they close the section that does hand drawn animation?
Hey hey! Disney isn't the only one doing animation/CGI... I should know, I'm doing my senior thesis on how the Brave Little Toaster and Toy Story are distinctly NON Disney films, and how they are formulaic parables, but with strong messages to children as well as adults nowadays, which are still popular in this day and age.... Also about the hero/quest narrative approach... (ie, Buzz/Woody going on a journey together to try to get 'home' to Andy's room, the Toaster and company trying to find their Master, etc etc so on and so forth) thusly developing a sense of persistence, working together to defeat impossible odds and strength of will!
Which is what I'm writing about right now
EDIT: Wheeew, I JUST missed the 5300th post! I want someone else to get it
I know what you mean, Mr. Stuff. Serious animation is like ugh, here in the states. So many people hear anime and instantly either think porn or pokemon, nothing in between. I find it hilarious, though, really. I try to talk to them about good, actual anime and they say 'you like pokemon...ha ha'. I gave up on stuff like that...
EDIT: Yeah, Danica, I know that Disney isnt' the only animators out there. Unfortunately, for every Brave Little Toaster you have a horrible Disney-spawned sequel to some other movie.

Preach on, Brother Stuff!
@Preview card: It's useful at least... The Grandeur Mechanic is indeed quite nice too. I think I wanna break the white one the most in extended - if its possible. Did someone say Dredge + Oversold Cemetery? That sounds like a lock of sorts if I ever heard of one.
I am seriously depressed cuz most likely I am not going to the Future Sight Prerelease, which SUCKS... cuz i've gone to EVERY SINGLE prerelease since Dissension, my first ever... *grumble* But anyway, I'll find a way to get there somehow.... then again there's a big deaf event happening on campus that whole day anyway, so I may just end up doing that.. I don't know at this point...... especially with what's up in the air right now...
ANYWAY!!
Onto happier subjects, to Psychoburner for the 5300th post!! Congratulations my man!
*Goes back to writing my Senior Thesis*
EDIT: Any thoughts on my topic would be appreciated, also, if you want more details, I'd be happy to oblige.. Oh and also another crucial focus is the fact that they're inanimate objects (appliances/toys) on journeys which is a common (yet not so much in Disney, who choose to mostly use animals)... which is a phrase called Anthropomorphism (look it up on wikipedia..and careful of the spelling its tricky!) Its interesting, as its targeted at MOSTLY animals, but the nifty thing about Toy Story and Brave Little Toaster are that they are OBJECTS... so that should be interesting...
EDIT 2: Psychoburner: y'know BLT had two sequels too..... Which I've heard (haven't seen them personally) are horrible.. so I think its pretty common that sequels are notoriously bad.......................I think the original trilogy of Star Wars is one of the few (if not only) exceptions....
Good luck on your thesis Omna! It sounds like you are off to a good start, and having fun doing it at the same time.
I'm depressed for the same reason. There is no way I can go to the prerelease. Mabey we should have our own coffeehouse prerelease for all of us unable to attend. We can goof off in MWS and draft a bit.
About the CoffeeHouse prerelease: That'd be a great idea Shazzy! (lol....do you mind if I call you that? :p)
EDIT: I'm pretty sure you've gotten a before, Psychoburner...
That makes me wonder... Is anyone up to the VERY arduous task of going through all of the previous CoffeeHouse threads and marking down who got which cookie? That will take someone a looong time... BUT I think it'd be awesome if we had a thing on the front page marking down how many cookies each person got.. kind of a Hall of Fame kind of thing..... That way, even if you're a regular for a short time and got a cookie you still kind of have a spot... what do you guys think???????? I know it'd be alot of work though.
EDIT 2: We could possibly split up the threads to one person per thread and give someone the task of doing that, and then compiling them.... Let me know who is available to help out and do that... It may be a cool thing to put in for the 1 year anniversary..... Which is fast approaching by the way. My 1 year anniversary of being on Salvation is this coming Sunday, April 15th... and the CoffeeHouse was created 4 days later, on April 19th...
I don't think I have, though. besides, it'd take away from my joke...lol,. It'd be very hard to figure out all the cookies, since the coffeehouse threads are very long.

I've never ever ever ever been to a pre-re - mostly because of location. I'd love it if this idea were to be feasible but is it? I mean draftwise at least. FS won't be released for netdraft for a while I think (I'd have to check that link that i got...). Now a sealed coffeehouse thing would be pretty cool tho as that patch will be out before then probably. Sorry if I got confused on what you meant Shah.

Have a goodnight everyone. I have to get up relatively early for work for another 7 hours but i know it will be worth it and its enjoyable working there. Ill talk to you all tommorrow though. I wish everyone a great night as well! Take care and have a good weekend everyone! *Hugs and blows kisses*

Well, the temperature here today was 25 degrees C and it is supposed to be snowing tonight... Goes to check.. Yup.... Go figure I suppose.
Bit disappointed, the Jays lost to the Tigers 5-4 this evening.... Still top of the ALE.
This made me laugh for a number of reasons. Temps at 77F then snow the next day reminds me so much of here. I'm not disappointed the Jays lost to my homeboys, the Tigers. Not much a fan of baseball, but I like when the homeboys win. Speaking of which, the town I live in just got a Minor League team. They built the stadium in less than half the time it normally takes, plus it was in the snow. But anyway, they're called the Great Lakes Loons. It's a pretty lame name considering I've never seen a loon here, but I'm excited to go to a game. It's exciting for such a little community. I just planned an outing for our work department to go as well.
Cookies--if you only mean the 100ths post cookies it wouldn't really be too bad. If you mean all the cookies, that's torture.
Shadow--welcome back and I'm glad you had a good holiday despite the trouble.
I hope everyone's depression fades quickly. *more hugs*
As for me, my head is near exploding. I hope it has time to relax this weekend.
yeah, I don't follow baseball too much myself, but I gotta like it when the Tigers win. Although I do track how good the local teams are doing every year.

Hey hey! Disney isn't the only one doing animation/CGI... I should know, I'm doing my senior thesis on how the Brave Little Toaster and Toy Story are distinctly NON Disney films...
I never said it was... It was just one of the last great hopes for turning out good traditional animation in the U.S. Just look at the restored DVD release of some of Disney's first movies like Snow White or, even better, Sleeping Beauty. They are truly beautiful. To be fair, Disney has produced some very good traditional animation in recent years, namely TLK and Tarzan. But lately, they are turning out crap like Cinderella III and Bambi II, and they killed their new traditional animation production altogether.
Plus, not to pick on your examples, but Toy Story is CGI, and BLT is for children - which was part of my original point. Serious traditional animation with a story intended for adults is nary to be seen coming out of the U.S.
I understand about the point, but they are still both produced by the same man, John Lasseter, and both are independent from Disney, and both are along the same theme, objects on journeys... They are still similar, as they both have very many parallelisms. I have been doing research on this, trust me.
EDIT: And yes Dreia, I only meant the 100th post cookies
that actually shouldn't be too hard, then. You simply figure out how many posts there are in a given thread, and divide that number by 100, boom, instantly done
yeah, we should figure all that out, shouldn't be too hard

Hmm, that is a good point. I wonder if MWS will have the update in time? I've never used it untill now, so I don't know how long they lag before patch updates.
I dont' have MWS, and I have dial-up, so I won't be participating, not like I ever play online. So yeah, I'll be heading off to bed, it's like 2:00 AM here, and I got some stuff to do tomorrow.

Just posting here to announce that I got my driver's license today, and the picture is standard 'this is just terrible' quality. I drove home from the DMV.
ID Photos - I'm lucky that my Driver's permit ID looks pretty okay, and I consider my student ID photo to be the best picture ever taken of me.
I'm impressed with a lot of the designs in FS. The futureshifted cards themselves interest me especially - a lot of them seem like the sort of ideas that every single person in CCM comes up with at some point or another. (Nimbus Maze, Force of Savagry.) Magus of the Moat is -gutsy- (and a good example of a color hosing an ally if that FCC round is still going.
So. We just had a fire alarm... any idea how frickin' hard it is to climb up and down stairs using crutches!!!?!?!?
Its annoying.. and I have an 8am class, during which we will be doing a bunch of presentations...
And a good friend of mine is coming to visit tonight.. I really wanted to get some sleep so that he and I could hang out and stuff... I really hope I get a chance to relax and maybe sleep for an hour or two before my chiropractor appointment and so on and suchforth...
I've gotten a big part of my stuff done, but I sitll need to do 3 parts... and all pretty nasty parts so yeah.. I better get on that
