I find nothing frightening about the number 4, 13, 666, or even 50 keywords in Future Sight. This means that we'll only have a comprehensive rulebook that's even thicker, and keep in mind that only one card will have a keyword at a time (or something like that), and we have no idea how far ahead into the future we're looking, or even if there will be a future for these keywords. But hey, better safe than sorry.
As for the other numbers.. I'm not that superstitious.
Random thought:
If a safe is unlocked, is it still a safe?
Well i guess i shouldnt say frightening but the 4 number sometimes scares me. I also think a safe is not safe if its out in public or if its opened to the environment. Also hehe im finally going to post on my Cecilia gimmick for awhile alacar. Well thanks for clearing everything up for me with the rules on gimmicks in the coffeehouse it is most appreciated.

Aw, that's fine, Cecilia I'm glad to see ya use it. Gimmicks aren't endorsed but they aren't against the rules. But any warnings, infractions, etc, you get apply to all accounts you own. That's all.
And I'm sure numbers do hold some hidden power, but I don't let them direct my life (at least consciously)

Yeah i dont let them direct my life either I just live my life as normal as i want it to be. I think im right back on track in my Cecilia gimmick and i feel alot better now and i feel open minded again. Me and mamelon were talking about it a little last night that i probably could be a little bit transgender just enough to understand alot of people that are transgender and able to talk to them if they need it especially mamelon, sakura, and lilly all of them are my friends thats why. I tend to like to think in everybody's shoes thats why i am transgender only a little bit though. Although to be honest i think all of us have some transgender in us that could just be my opinion on the whole thing though. Well im going to get ready for work soon see you all soon and take care everyone! *hugs and blows kisses to everyone*

Read through the latest CoffeeSoap. Verdict? Still hilarious. Also, congrats, Umgenni. So, now I'm in here on broadband, waiting for a few things to download. Anyone care to play a game of PCL? I've got some time to kill before I go home, and I can't work on banners here.
Fairly good. I would change the line "going mental like spoiled milk" though. The phrase "going mental" just seems out of place for one. Decaying, rotting, or "breaking down" could all replace it, and probably a few more elegant words that are escaping me at the moment.
then it wouldn't match the first half of the poem. It shares the same syllables and rhymes. It is a transition style of poem, where the first half and second half have different images but mirror each other.
On an irony note....I was flirting with this sweet christian boy on MTGO last night. He seemed just a nudge away from preachy but was sweet. He was ok with me being bi, even warned me against guys (cause most are worthless jerks) and said stick with girls :-P (even though he said as a christian he shouldn't tell me that)
He was kinda sweet and fun to talk to. If we become good friends or if it seems to lead anywhere I will have to tell him the truth mind you. Wonder if he can handle it.
In the meantime though, it is awesome just to be accepted as a girl, no questions asked.

This FCC round is really making me nuts. The round requirements create this crazy tension between flavor and mechanics. For anyone not following the FCC, we have to create a card that hoses an allied color. Mechanically, it's a nightmare because it goes directly contradictary to the entire philosophy of the color pie. There are only a few, very rare examples of cards printed that do this. So tell me, in this situation would you design a card that has a cool flavor but the mechanic makes no sense from the color pie perspective, or would you make a card that does make sense mechanically but the flavor is is less interesting? Because I've designed one card from each approach and can't decide which way to go.

Well, izzet?
@4: it's why the japanese use a local dialect word for "four" instead of adopting the Chinese on-yomi /shi/
and they also use a dialectal word for "nine" instead of the Chinese reading which means in Japanese "torment" or "suffering"
But do they actually consider the numbers themselves bad luck? I have heard differing stories on this, of Japanese skyscrapers without a 4th floor and such.
Personally, as a designer, I prefer flavor over function. Just look at my legendary card: He's a monoblue elf. He'd be a very very blue, very 'in-color' card, if it weren't for his type. He may be a storyline character but it doesn't make sense mechanically in terms of the pie.
Sakura, I thought this article might be of interest to you, as well as to others in the house such as Lilly and Ninja-Pirate. It provides a different view of transgender at a psychiatric level, a focus on issues, goals, and challenges present in a transgendered person's life, and some data about the social adjustments of being transgendered.
Maybe you would find something there that might help you with your transition process, even in a small way.
@Design: I know that I prefer for flavor and function to cohere together as much as possible. Generally, I wouldn't tend to sacrifice function for the sake of flavor, though I might willingly make a card more complex for the sake of flavor.

All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
I think out of color creatures are fine, why should humans get all the fun.
While a creature type should generally be tied to a certain color or its neighbours...not every creature follows the stereotypes. Red Akroma is a prime example. Lightning Angel and Razia don't count because they are not mono-coloured.
I'd prefer flavor myself Kraj. I thought your simic card (I don't know if you've changed it or not)'s flavor was very good, I would have given it a 9.5 or 10 ;), but I'm not sure if its well balanced.
I like legends being colorized by who they are, not what race they are or where they're from. Normal creatures though, they have no way of distinguishing from other creatures of the same type most of the time and their colors should stay put. (I can't remember when this happened, but I got mad at a judge in the fcc once who gave someone a 0 on flavor for a legend, because it was a minotaur in green I think.)

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.
@FCC: I prefer function over flavor. It needs to be able to make sense when it's being played. Plus I like being creative when it comes to making things mechanically. However, the FCC itself is 95% flavor and 5% function. Go with whatever the more flavorful card is.
That's a good question. I guess I'd say I'm the type that's willing to bend the pie for a good reason and build great flavor around it, but generally I can't stand cards that use flavor to justify all sorts of mechanical shenannigans.
Which doesn't really help me all that much. The ability I designed is brand new (though poorly templated), so I can't say for certain where it falls in the color pie. I'd probably have to call it as red-blue mechanically, and red or red-green or even red-black philosophically. I think it makes perfect sense flavorfully. But it just feels wrong.
On the other hand, the mechanic that actually makes sense as an allied color hoser just doesn't have the FCC cool factor. I keep waffling. Bah! Screw it. I'll stick with what I got.
Here's the other option I was working on (in progress - the balance is really tricky and the flavor needs work):
Savannah Leopards GG
Creature - Cat (U)
Kinship with white (This creature comes into play with a +1/+1 counter on it for each white creature in play.)
If Savannah Leopards' power is 4 or more it has trample.
2/2 If a starving predator is dangerous, imagine a well-fed one.
Why it makes sense: It encourages you to play white creatures to get the bonus, which is what allied colors do. But since it's "in play" and not "you control" it's extremely dangerous against white.
Why this keyword could be good in your block: It's a polar opposite to the flavor of Feud but mechanically plays off the same themes. It's also a great Ninjutsu target since you can play it early and bounce it later to replay it as a bigger creature for cheap.
I suppose it's good, but it seems limited. The great thing about Feud was that it was great with any permanent type, and any color (or colors). Some worked on allied, some on enemy. Still, Kinship could be abused.
I'm willing to forego function for flavor, but only if that flavor is awesome. If I don't get a definite "feeling" from a card in terms of flavor, it had better just be a damned good card, really. For Unnamed I went pretty simply; after designing a slew of cards and picking through them for what I was going to use, I decided to take a look at each card as though I hadn't designed it. Really helps with the creative process.

That article was awesome Mams, thanks
Yeah. What I thought was interesting was the totally different perspective on psychological classification. Transgenderism is typically labelled as a "gender disorder" or an "identity disorder," which, regardless of intent, pathologizes not identifying with one's genitalia. She, however, poses that negative feelings about being transgender are more aptly described as a stress disorder, owed to personal anxieties and cultural stresses due to simultaneously having two apparent sex identities which are incongruent, something met with resistance and ostracism in typical society. She insinuates nothing negative about actually being transgender, and in fact implies that any condition which results in a similar social environment and similar challenges to forming an identity would be the same kind of stress disorder.
@Kraj: Kinship seems very cool. To me, that mechanic appears to have a lot of potential power, especially on a low-cost creature such as you created. It's clearly a creature ability, which is fine, and in many cases it will award a creature with great strength at no additional cost. Seems very swingy, and very playable.
I'm curious, though. What was that other keyword you were talking about, that you weren't sure of? Now I'm wondering what it is!

I dunno . . . the Japanese are thought to have a very strongly superstitious culture. And I know that homonyms, being so prominent in Chinese and Japanese, can influence how words are perceived . . .
