Yes I know I named her Rat :-P But it is a pretty name. She seems like a Nezumi.
I've had rats for a while Photon...didn't you see my posts from when Hide passed away? (First two were named Hide // Seek)
Im such a geek, naming all my rats after magic cards.
* Shin' embraces her geekness.
Edit : Holy monkey Evan, your Bingo card looks stacked. How is everyone elses going.
Oh, I know you have rats. That's not really the point of my previous post. I was just a little surprised that you named it Nezumi, considering the word means "mouse".
I don't have any pets considering I think most animal are bothersome vermin (Incidentally, I feel the same way about children). But, if I did, I would probably name them after villains.
When I was a kid, I wanted to have a pet named Archfiend Baramos. 2000 experience points to the one (who ISN't Josh) who can spot the reference.
Heh Heh, Potato, that is awesome. Just be careful not to stab him with too many pieces of plastic clothing and mustaches.
Oh, that totally reminds me of Ultimate Hamster Fighting.

[16:23] Alacar Leoricar: maybe if you do it'll make the porn more meaningful
Well, that, and, as Photon said, it really is the Japanese word for "rat" or "mouse". Edit: Sarnath'd, like twice. A whole heapin' bunch of the Kamigawa stuff is that way. Kitsune = Fox, Orochi = snake, Neko-te = cat claws, Rekishi = History, etc. I find it funny that his name is some form of "History, the history of Kamigawa". There are more examples, I'm sure.
My bingo cards alright, considering I got in on it late.
I'm reading a book Alacar sent me for the Star Wars d20 roleplaying game. This ones got info on tons of aliens. I've read 3 hours last night, and two hours today, and I'm only on the G's (sorted alphabetically). So much geekery going on here :D.

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.

Not to gripe, but Orochi doesn't actually mean snake. That would be hebi, I believe. Orochi translates more literally to something like "serpent", and is used mostly in an archaic sense to describe reptilian creatures of great size. For example, the orochi is a primary figure in the legend of the Kusanagi no Tsurugi.

[16:23] Alacar Leoricar: maybe if you do it'll make the porn more meaningful
I love how people easily forget that Eragon was a book written for children and that adult sensibilities are probably going to fly right over it ¬_¬;;
I was a children's librarian for five years. I've read hundreds of books intended for people in that age group. Eragon the book had its good aspects and its weaker aspects, lke most books, but was certainly a large step above pulp fantasy. Eragon the movie was completely terrible; its critical reviews and the popular perception reflect this. (It's not like film critics pan every movie that's intended for children.) The movie lost most of the better and more imaginative aspects of the book while preserving the most generic and silly bits. Enough things were cut in the wrong places that the pacing felt very off, compared to the book; In particular, the second half went far too fast, (except for the climactic battle scene, which was great; it was easy to get a handle on the scope of the destruction without the battle dragging on LOTR-style) and a lot of the drama surrounding what would happen to Arya and -especially- the identity of Murtagh were lost, as both had their sub-plots resolved literally within a few onscreen minutes.
EDIT: Nothing wrong with naming a rat "Rat". Most common name for a cat is "kitty". I think it's a cute name.
I liked the third X-Men movie, personally. I thought it was a little too fast-paced and could've done with either a fourth movie or at least another half hour of run time, but it was still entertaining. Especially for someone who's a Kitty Pride fan *ahem*.
I liked it too. Not as much as the first two, but it was still fun. The phoenix side-plot could have easily been the main plot of a fourth movie and the "cure" main plot borrowed ridiculously from the first two movies, but the movei basically promised to deliver an action-packed mutant power orgy and it did.
And yes, they did an excellent job with Kitty. I had always felt her power was rather boring in combat situations and totally defensive, but they gave her some great moments where she creatively used her power offensively.
Ya know, I would join the FCC, Kraj, but I have the same reservations about it as I do most other contests and such on MTGS.
Yeah, that was kind of the joke I was making. Some judges are very good about being tactful and providing constructive criticism but some can be very dismissive and really just be total dicks. It's not unusual for a new player to be discouraged by a bad judge, which upsets me every time.
What, is everyone on here a genius, or something? You, me, Nai, and it seems like someone else all are over 30 on the thing? Who else did that I don't know about?
I scored a 28 on my first try, then took it again and scored a 31. Magic is a game that tends to attract a more intellectual crowd so it's nothing unusual to have a high average ACT score in the community.

I admit, the final battle was awesome. They could probably cut the rest of the movie out and release the ending 15 minutes on DVD, and it would be better than buying the whole movie. The rest of the movie makes you want everyone to die, not just the villians.
@ Photon: Where are my 2000 XP...Im bored of sticking my sword into these "Box-O-Orcs" and they take forever to level up off. The screaming gets tiresome after a while.

I sort of felt it was a letdown after X-2, but then I remembered how I felt about the first one, so I suppose it was to be expected. The action was decent enough, but it sort of felt like 2 different movies going on at once- and I've really come to expect something MORE epic from any storyline with the Phoenix force in it.
And yes, they did an excellent job with Kitty. I had always felt her power was rather boring in combat situations and totally defensive, but they gave her some great moments where she creatively used her power offensively.
That's the thing with Kitty. Her powers are very indirect, but I would never want to get caught in a street fight with her.
But...but... he is gorgeous.
I thought he was a decent choice, but I sort of prefer the more buff Warren from the later story arcs, personally. I don't think he was a failure, though.

I'm thinking he is thinking it's a lot more chaotic, and that situations like the one Alacar experienced last time out are a lot more common. I've explained that most of the judges are fairly objective, and there isn't a lot of bashing and mudslinging.
Speaking of street fights, by the way- who would win in a street fight: Oprah Winfrey, or Angeline Jolie?
I feel like Angie is probably in better shape and has better combat training, but you know that Oprah wouldn't be playing fair. Furthermore, you would never know when Dr. Phil and Rachel Ray would pop out of a dark alley and flank you from behind while Oprah applied her pranabindu training.
Not to gripe, but Orochi doesn't actually mean snake. That would be hebi, I believe. Yeah, I know, I was just grabbing stuff off the top of my head. Speaking of which - Usagi Miyamoto, who appeared on the Ninja Turtles, is another example. Usagi is Japanese for "rabbit".
I sort of felt it was a letdown after X-2, but then I remembered how I felt about the first one, so I suppose it was to be expected.
I feel exactly the same way. I was rather unimpressed by the first one but it grew on me and now I really like it. I guess I just have really high expectations for anything that says "X-Men" on it.
I've really come to expect something MORE epic from any storyline with the Phoenix force in it.
Definitely. Though to the director's credit (or chagrin, I'm not quite sure), the climax of that plot had the only moment of any emotional impact in the entire movie.

Ah... well it's definitely not that bad. Conflicts that escalate to the degree Alacar's did are quite rare. Normally, when there's a dispute over judging there's a brief discussion about it with maybe a bit of *****ing and then it's done.
Speaking of street fights, by the way- who would win in a street fight: Oprah Winfrey, or Angeline Jolie?
Suddenly I'm hearing "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny"...
If it was gauranteed a 1-on-1, Jolie, totally. Oprah may have grown up in the ghetto, but she's gone soft and squishy. I'm sure she'd have a few tricks up her sleeve, but nothing to match Jolie's insane viciousness.
If the fight occured on a populated street, though, you know damn well every woman within a half mile will be rushing in to defend Oprah, ultimately resulting with Jolie being drawn and quartered by a mob of soccer moms.

Yes Usagi Yojimbo, that was an awesome comic series. He was cool in Turtles too.
My fav Usagi story is the one where he meets a little lizard who says Zilla over and over. It breaths fire and saves Usagi. The final line is "Are you a god, Zilla?"

I feel exactly the same way. I was rather unimpressed by the first one but it grew on me and now I really like it. I guess I just have really high expectations for anything that says "X-Men" on it.
I feel like X-2 really captured the essence of the franchise more than the others, personally. I didn't care as much for the first one, I think, because I've seen so many reincarnations of the Senator Kelly nonsense that I no longer give a damn about mutant registration.
Definitely. Though to the director's credit (or chagrin, I'm not quite sure), the climax of that plot had the only moment of any emotional impact in the entire movie.
I'm sure they'll get it right the next couple of times Jean comes back to life, though.
Ah... well it's definitely not that bad. Conflicts that escalate to the degree Alacar's did are quite rare. Normally, when there's a dispute over judging there's a brief discussion about it with maybe a bit of *****ing and then it's done.
There are also a huge amount of contenders in each month, so the idea of one newcomer becoming singled-out in some sort of drama is really low.
I think Angelina has the combat skills needed, but I think everyone is underestimating Oprah and her 22 Cleric of Oprah hit dice. There is no way she ever managed to get where she is without the aid of divine spells with the [Evil] description, so I'm guessing that Oprah would let Angie wail on her with her flurry of blows for a few rounds, and then let her have it with a blast of Slay Living or Mind Rape.
Additionally, Oprah has lost what- 700 something pounds over the duration of her reign of terror career? She's basically DIED several times over. ***** has probably got mad-ass durability. Also, when it comes down to the line, I think Oprah would be willing to hit Jolie where it hurts- I can totally see her being all "Today on Oprah, we've got JULIA ROBERTS!! Oh, also, I'm dropping nukes on Namibia, you skinny white *****!"
Technically, you didn't. You said Dragon Warrior. That's technically wrong, which, as the Central Bureaucracy will tell you, is the best kind of wrong.
