I'm not really familiar with the appearance of any competitive magic players, so I can't say. It's not something that's really ever captured my interest.
I didn't have anyone/where else to rave about how I think Zvi's looking pretty hot in their Hall of Fame pic, so I thought I'd finally drop a line here and do so.
Wait, what? First of all, I don't even recognize him. Is he the one second from the right?

Most men suck, but not all. I've found three that don't entirely suck. And luckily, all three are pretty damn cute...
but that's beside the point.
I don't follow MtG much, especially pro players....haha.
I'm so tired...I hung out with clark from like...8:30 until 2 in the morning, and i had class at 11 today. SO TIRED. But it was worth it, because there's something about clark that intrigues the hell out of me. It's pretty weird.
On a totally random note, I watched Pink Floyd's "The Wall" the other day. Talk about ****in' weird, man! hahaha. It was good, though. I really liked it. Now I have to watch Tommy over break, and then I think I'm caught up with such things.

I'm sorry to say, but as evidence for the generalisation you made, this is exceedingly weak. It seems you have had one or a few bad experiences with one or a few sucky men. The moral is to be into BDSM so that you can bend your lovers to your eternal will.
Has anyone said ever something but everyone else heard something else?
Here's the conversation...
GF: James, can you go get me some chinese food?
James(playfully): Do I look like your maid?
Me: No. You look like her negro manservant. (all 3 of us are Black btw)
Matt: Did you just call him a negromancer?
(massive lulz)
Wow, I've been away for a long time. This was mostly due to school related things, and me trying to reduce my time-wasting activities and trying to find better ways to waste my time, such as by getting drunk with friends and playing video games.
And yet I still got not much done in spite of my efforts to be more productive.
Not a whole lot going on - was fooling around with a freshman boy for a couple months, but it sorta dropped off for no apparent reason. Maybe it was guilt for his long-distance boyfriend (altho their relationship wasn't exactly going well in the first place)...
But yeah, I'm a bad person. And now I ain't gettin' none, unfortunately. Also randomly a week ago, the girlfriend of one of my friends from high school drunk IMed me and told me that my friend is bi and that he always thought I was hot but he never told me. I wasn't exactly surprised given that we had exchanged ********s once back in HS. Apparently his gf didn't know that part yet at that point in the night but she found out a little later. Drunk people are funny. Not so funny was that apparently she said she was afraid she might have HIV because of that. That's ign'ant.
So yeah, also I just graduated from undergrad college. I'm not really sure what to do with my life now. I kinda wanna go to grad school, but it's kinda late to be applying (although there are grad schools with deadlines in mid-January and later). I'm probably just gonna acquire the recommendations now and then if I decide I really wanna go, I'll already have them and be able to apply for fall 2009 (apparently many schools will hold recommendations for a couple years for this purpose).
Hey, when you guys type how do you do it? I was wondering how I could improve my typing speed. I watched James Bond films all weekend and when we got to Goldeneye I noticed the lady was typing with two fingers at a time.
This is from forever ago, but I was catching up.
And I had to comment because I can't imagine being impressed or anything by someone who types with two whole fingers. But I sorta type "the proper way", you know, using all five fingers. Not exactly the way they teach you in class, but pretty close...
And I had to comment because I can't imagine being impressed or anything by someone who types with two whole fingers. But I sorta type "the proper way", you know, using all five fingers. Not exactly the way they teach you in class, but pretty close...
I type the way they they teach in school. But you can only type with one finger at a time. What I was trying to do to up my speed was to prep the second finger and let it hover over the next key that I was going to type so that I could almost press them simultaneously. Basically I was trying to see if it was possible to type two letters at a time.
My pinkies are weaker than the rest of the fingers so usually when it comes to typing certain letters I use the wrong finger and I know I don't shift correctly. You're supposed to shift with the opposite hand of the letter you're trying to capitalize. I tend to use the same hand. I guess my brain can't split functions of my hand very well. S'why I can't play the piano cuz the hands can't do two different things
That's kinda sad.
Mm. Food of the weekend, spinach salad with honey mustard, fetta cheese, pepper and salt. Yum!
S'why I can't play the piano cuz the hands can't do two different things
More probably you can't play the piano because you haven't spent years practicing (if you have then I apologize profusely).
Very few people are born being able to do multiple things equally well with both hands. Most pianists are not ambidextrous. But with practice, independence of fingers comes.
I type well, but I have seen people who can't play the piano type better. The important thing I think is practice, combined with some sort of clock to give you a sense of urgency. Start slowly making sure to use the finger for each key that you are supposed to, and you will get faster. Play a game like Typing of the Dead.
When you improve, you can start doing tricky things like making large-ish jumps accurately with your fingers and using multiple fingers to hit repeated keys. An important part of typing (and piano) is that you push off the keyboard with each finger which allows you to push down on the next with maximal speed. This is why it is so much easier for a pianist to play a fast trill with his second and third fingers than it is for him to play a single repeated note with just one of them. But this sort of thing is not to be thought about, it just will come naturally if you are pushed gradually.
I can't really play piano (having had no lessons), but I can muddle through on it.
I do have a measure of hand independence though, because I played harp for several years, and it was obviously slightly necessary in order to be bale to play what you'd call well.
As a random side note, I'm madly in love with Kerry Butler. Madly, irrevocably in love. She's hilarious.
As an equally random, but more serious side note, I'd love to hear what you think of this video clip. It's from The View (I got it from Feministing.com, one of the blogs I read), and the subject turns to transgendered children. Barbara Walters, for all that she's kind of senile, shows a great perspective on the whole subject. Sherri Shepherd, not so much. I found it interesting.
EDIT: Well, I don't entirely admire the way Walters assumes the child in question is more likely to be trans, but she likely says that because she recently did a special on trans children and it's likely on her mind. It doesn't however, invalidate that many of the points she makes are good.
I actually think it's Whoopi Goldberg who shines in the clip. Her comments are the most perspicacious.
I actually think it's Whoopi Goldberg who shines in the clip. Her comments are the most perspicacious.
Whoopie Goldberg seems to me to be the best-spoken, the most in-line with my personal beliefs, and frankly the smartest of the hosts (though that may be just my arrogant response to her agreeing with my beliefs).
There was a recent fiasco about one of the hosts making some stupid comment about history; apparently she thinks that the year zero was the beginning of time and not closer to the middle, as most evangelical Christians believe, or basically the end (present day, relatively), as most people believe.
And Whoopi Goldberg and Joy somethingsomething were the only people who seemed to know who Epicurus was or whether or not Greeks existed before Christianity.
I really like Whoopi's comments on that clip. I particularly like how she makes the distinction between a child just exploring gender roles and having fun as opposed to early signs of sexuality (while being okay with both at the same time).
Although I don't think she comes off as a monster, I don't really care for Sherri's comments. I think that every child needs his or her own unique love and attention, and that the role of the parent is to give the child what he or she needs to grow up into their own mature individuality (just my opinion). Giving someone one kind of love when what he or she needs is something else entirely is akin to offering milk to the lactose intolerant. It's generous, but not exactly helpful.
S'why I can't play the piano cuz the hands can't do two different things
That's kinda sad.
I can play pretty well, and it's because I practice very slowly. I am a firm believer in the importance of establishing kinetic memory. Just keep going and be patient with practicing slowly (not just "practicing," by which I mean simply playing the piece.)
I can't really play piano (having had no lessons), but I can muddle through on it.

I think a number of interesting things become apparent given this video. First of all, Whoopi Goldberg owns. Second, this video speaks to the astounding lack of understanding people have regarding transgender issues, and it's fortunate that only Star Jones was taking the overtly reactionary position. Third, I think that this video makes it clear how much identity politics and radical politics need to be reconsidered. It's not just White, Middle-Class, Heterosexual Males that can be reactionary, but Black Women too. Her view shows us what a disservice has been done to the transgender community, and I don't think the rest of the queer community really pays enough attention to it.
Help has come in the form of a bit of basic algebra. I feel that it'll shed some light on your problem here.
Basically:
S + T = W
...S in this case stands for 'spam' and the T stands for 'light trolling'. And the W? That stands for 'Warning'. I love math. -- {mikeyG}
But it is important to realize how unaware most people--even within the queer community, as you said--are of trans issues. It's really sad. I'm sure Sherri's view, unnerving as it seems to us, isn't actually all that uncommon.
Although, I think it's good that she's on the show. I think the image of the other four women contesting her view is actually more powerful than the image of five women agreeing would be, and probably a bit more effective at raising awareness.
Hah. Please. if I practiced i'd be great. I'm awesome at everything I try.
....
just kidding. I'll keep that in mind Good Dr. I think I'd enjoy playing the piano once I learned how.
Erimir: Shhhh. Famous people don't have to be smart. Look at Hollywood Squares these days and then look at it when it was first on when the stars actually had to know the answers.
Nick: I'll try that. I'll sneak into the TV room at UNT's clark hall cuz they have a piano in there. Maybe one of the Clark gays can teach me how to tickle the ivories.
Edit: Forgot the reason I wanted to read the thread today. My sister sent me this link cuz ANTM is the only show she my mom and I have in common.
How can the Gaymers thread go 3 days without posts????
I blame myself everyone else.
For my part, life's been kicking my ass lately, so I haven't really had the time to post a lot in here. I barely have enough time to moderate the dumbasses on Salvation. And when I do, I'm usually thoroughly out of patience by the end of it.
Mikey: sounds rough. The cops telling you that they'll never catch the kids who did it is kind of bad policing if you ask me, but maybe they'd rather be upfront with you than giving you false hope or something. Hope things get better for you!
I haven't been around much due to exams being this week....so far, i have a 2.8 for semester, but that's only because one of my grades isn't posted yet. Not too bad, really.
I also have a boyfriend now...when did that happen, you ask? ****, I have no clue. But I do. It hasn't even been a week, and I already feel like this is all wrong. I'll spare you all and not complain and ***** about it, but suffice it to say that I feel like we're total opposites for the most part. On two different planets. So on and so forth.
But maybe I'm just freaked out at how fast things have moved. We'll see. I don't want to lead him on, but I don't want to be miserable either. Mercifully, christmas break started yesterday, so I have some time to myself to think all this over.
And now i'm off to kill time until my friend Ryan gets here...he's being a superawesome friend and picking me up for this party we're going to tonight. I get to see all my news office friends again, woo! haha.
i'm out!
