Oh man. This is awesome. He'd work so well with Ghalta, or Reggie, or Carney T.

This set is really going to empower Gruul stompy. You can start with mana dorks, go into a potential turn 2 Rhythm of the Wild, a turn four Ilharg, and be swinging in that turn with the Boar God and Ghalta or Zacama or whomever. That is a lot of aggro pressure, man.

Oh, man, and with Rhythm out, you can just choose to give whatever creature Ilharg sneaks out the +1/+1 counter for some extra punishment. Worst-case scenario, he cheapens the cost to put out Ghalta next turn, and you sneak out another heavyweight from hand when you attack with both.

He'd also work well with Tetzimoc. Put prey counters on things, drop Tetzy when you attack, blow up anything with a prey counter on it, bounce Tetz back to hand to do it again.

Or Zacama. Sure, you don't get to untap your lands, but if you have open mana you can potentially do even more damage than you would with Ghalta.

I love everything about this. Are there enough mythics left in the set for this to be a cycle?

Why is the boar god of Gruul not green and red?

Green may have 20 boars but red has 11 that is not nothing: Valakut Fireboar, Rubblebelt Boar, Prickleboar, Goretusk Firebeast, Gore Swine, to name a few, there are also two black boars, a white boar and a colorless (two with the emerge one) boar

Name 1 red boar... Compared to Green's like 30

He also represents more of the red part of Gruul than the green part in both story and mechanics. A green god wouldn't be the "raze god" but rather the god that comes after and grows things back.

Probably because he finishes the cycle of mono colored gods since we know the other four that were killed on Amenkhet are here and red (Hazoret) is the only one that would be missing

I think I saw this guy already in Princess Mononoke.

Outside of Standard, what creature has the best combination of P/T and ETB effect? Eldrazi are typically on-cast triggers, so no good there. Is there any creature that is almost always an automatic win being dropped onto the battlefield with this guy (not counting purely for damage, I want the ETB to matter)?
