3/14/2017 If you cast an instant or sorcery spell from your graveyard (due to an ability such as flashback, for example), Pyromancer Ascension’s first ability won’t trigger unless another card with the same name is in your graveyard.

You'll have to be careful which spells you cast using the Arcanist's trigger.

As powerful as this is, the most important part is it’s a creature with one base power and trample, which is inherently funny.

Gotta get that free point of damage in when you remove the blocker!

Shame that its ability generally nonbos with Wizard's Lightning in the 'yard, but having two relevant creature types makes it have a little bit higher potential ceiling. I only wish it had haste instead of trample!

Fatal Frenzy, Rush of Blood, and Onward // Victory... A simple Mutagenic Growth allows the double casting of one of these for a 12/5 trampler on turn 3. If it's turn 4, you can cast Might of Old Krosa instead of MGrowth and make it a 20/7.

I'm amused just how much synergy with combat tricks. Slap him with a pump, swing, and get to pump him again, using that delicious trample to slam through blockers.

Duress/Vicious Rumors into this into Davriel, Rogue Shadowmage can shred your opponents hand pretty fast.

This card is insane, even if you aren't planning on equipping it. For example, in Rakdos, you curve turn 1 Duress into turn 2 Dreadhorde Arcanist, then cast down on turn 3 and play duress again.
