Karplusan Wolverine, Somberwald Vigilante, Gibbering Fiend, Harsh Mentor, Immolation Shaman, Goblin Chainwhirler, Hissing Iguanar, Rampaging Ferocidon, Scab-Clan Berserker, Tunneling Geopede, Zo-Zu the Punisher, Dagger Caster, Hellrider, Impact Tremors, Manabarbs, Pyrohemia, Impact Resonance, Dance with Devils, Fiery Confluence (each choice is a separate damage instance), Devils' Playground, and Tibalt himself are some of the best cards I could find at low CMC for this guy.

Manabarbs, Pyrohemia, and Ferocidon stand out as particularly spammy damage sources. Since Torbran isn't symmetrical they hurt you a lot less than your opponents.

Jaya, Venerated Fire Mage is also a solid pick, as are probably a few other otherwise underrated 'walkers that burn something for 1.

All in all I know who my next burn commander is.

EDIT: Goblin Sharpshooter, Glint-Horn Buccaneer, Firebrand Archer, Thermo-Alchemist, Electrostatic Field, Close Quarters, Circle of Flame, Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh, Burning Earth, Battle Strain, Heat of Battle, Ashmouth Hound, Ornery Goblin, Kessig Forgemaster, Outpost Siege, Leyline of Lightning, Scorch Spitter, Goblin Bombardment, and good old Purphoros, God of the Forge.

And, y'know, anything that makes a whole bunch of small tokens like Hordeling Outburst, Tempt with Vengeance, Lightning Coils, or Firecat Blitz

It's a fair point. Personally I would go with the slightly-more-inclusive Raid Bombardment if one wishes to go the tokens route (or just both).

Honestly I'm not 100% sold on full token commitment though. It's certainly the highest return with his ability, but you're still not gonna burst down 3 other players at 40 life before they wipe your board. He's also good with effects like Chandra's Pyrohelix and Pyrokinesis, so I'll probably end up doing something more along those lines with him.

EDIT: Grapeshot, Dual Shot, Lava Dart, Electrickery, Lightning Volley, Shower of Sparks?, Slice and Dice, Searing Blaze?, Radiating Lightning?, Mana Clash?, Needle Drop?, Pyromatics, Volcanic Spray, Flame Fusillade!! (sadly, mountains aren't red)


Not that all of these would be good includes, but it gives a peek at what spellslinger Torbran might look like.

I don't know how you don't have a cavalcade of calamity in there, considering how many of these ashmouth hound type effects come on 1/x creatures and 1/1's you're spamming.

Because mono-red isn't mindless enough as-is.

monored in standard is a bit silly, but I would strongly disagree with monored in commander or brawl (which this set is designed for) being mindless.

Alongside all of Anachronity's excellent suggestions, if you want to take the CMC count a little higher, this guy will make some Dragons more insane than they already were. Thundermaw Hellkite will ensure your dragons are the only fliers around doing damage, while Siege Dragon and Balefire Dragon can take the fieldwipe fun even further.
This guy is going to be so much fun with First and Double Strike cards too.

oh, sweet, Jaya, Venerated Firemage feels like she's been thoroughly supplanted for the Cavalcade of Calamity decks. Costs 1 mana less, spikes things much higher. The Flame of Keld does a little more work with refilling your hand, but it only lasts for one turn and is about to rotate out.
