A pretty decent card. I don't think it's a finisher for Control, but it's great in a Mid-Range /B/W/x deck. Being able to trade up with Carnage Tyrant or Doom Whisperer is really solid while also being a nice Wall with the Vigilance ability. A well-designed card, methinks.

Seems okay. Not sure why it's a mythic, the design isn't anything crazy or weird, nor is it particularly pushed.

I'm more focused on the "dies to Lava Coil and leaves nothing behind" argument. I can see it in Esper Control, but aren't there better finishers in those colors?

Despite Lava Coil really ruining the day with this one, it blocks a lot of important threats and has the important ability of killing certain hexproof dinos and other assorted big problem threats in Standard. Afterlife 2 is pretty sweet Lightning Strike insurance.

I like that they referenced what scales really refer to, the market. (For instance, the Apocalypse, Famine is depicted holding scales.)

This would be so cool and actually make sense if the white activation gave it First Strike. But being worse than Rekindling Phoenix isn't really a death sentence for the card. If you're worried about exile removal, keep an eye out for sacrifice outlets the set has to offer.
