MTG Salvation

A bad path that doubles as a bad wrath. While I appreciate the flexibility, is this a card that any archetype has been calling out for?

Edit: Assymmetrical wrath is worth considering.

"May" is implied whenever you're forced to search your library; it's entirely possible you don't have any basic lands in your library (either due to Mana Severance, playing Hermit Druid, or just you're out of basics due to heavy use of green ramp on your side, things like Ghost Quarter and Wave of Vitriol on mine), but I can't verify it. I mean, it does give things like Cosi's Trickster something to do, but that's about it.

But if you want those lands (or the deck-thinning), you have to take the shocks from the Ankh, the bolts from Tunnel Ignus.

Espeically since it doesn't have "may" in its text which is better than Scuttle the Wreckage.

Besides being asymmetrical, I think some sort of Ankh of Mishra deck could in theory use it, since if you want the lands, you've got to get shocked for each one.

Plague wind for 6 mana (albeit the opponent has the potential to ramp) is still pretty darn good.

The strength of this card is the flexibility. 2 mana spot removal is alright and having the option to cast it as a 'Plague Wind'esk effect is really good. Even better this card exiles, preventing graveyard value. You can control/reduce the ramp component with cards like Aven Mindcensor, Leonin Arbiter or taking advantage of it with Land Tax, Weathered Wayfarer, Knight of the White Orchid...

Like @ForgottenPlaneswalker said, the ramp component isn't a may effect. So Ankh of Mishra won't be an option. If your opponents are playing 3-5 colored decks, than they most likely only run few basics.

I was under the impression that while you're forced to search, it was still up to you whether or not you "find" what you're searching for.

This is true. You can always fail to find but in this case that would be pretty rough to take (if your opponent just exiled all your dudes!)

Effects like these and Field of Ruin and such really make me want to do something cheesy and fun with Ob Nixilis, Unshackled.
