Posted Mar 12, 2019Modern horizons really provides an option to print some planeswalkers which would be obnoxious in standard but playable in Modern.
This is a pretty interesting option for a deck with lots of flyers like Modern Spirits. The +2 is pretty weak but not useless in such a deck and just creating a 4/4 flyer and being able to make another one in two turns is pretty sweet. It really helps that the 4/4 is very good at defending the remaining planeswalker. Being able to go +2 and get a Worship emblem is also very valuable, many decks have no chance of beating worship in enchantment form, let alone as emblem.
4 mana is just steep competition as always, this has great utility but is it worth a slot over collected company and other cards? Can you play this next to collected company? I'm inclined to say yes for Spirits so far as a 1 or 2-of because it's so versatile.
