Of all the possible kill spells, the chose Murder?

Why not? First off, it's elegant. There are only two spells that say "Destroy target creature" and nothing else, and this is better than the other (Impale). Secondly, there are very few kill spells that are better in limited than Murder. Sure, it's not Fatal Push or Terminate, but the point of Masters sets isn't to reprint 249 of the game's greatest cards ever, it's to provide a great limited environment while still giving us access to some damn good cards.
