Yeah, but it's not a "strictly worse" Negate, you can actually get some utility out of that returning to hand with all the ETB clauses.

Like returning a Torrential Gearhulk and then maybe flashing him in again later to recast this.

Cancel, but you also have to bounce a permanent... I'm sure some deck will try to spin that into an upside. God, I miss Familiar's Ruse.

So it's Cancel with a bit of extra utility at the cost of flexibility. I can dig it, though few decks will actually run it.

Interestingly, since returning the creature is a cost, that effect can't be countered. So it's essentially an uncounterable way to save one of your creatures from a nasty effect. However, it'll probably only be used to abuse ETB effects.

Is there anything cheaper than Mnemonic wall to spam this for a soft lock?
