A Weaker version of Hammer of Bogardan thats for sure.

There is also the technicality in non-standard formats where this could be returned and cast multiple times during a single turn, which Hammer of Bogardan can't. Take an arbitrarily large amount of mana, and divide it by 8. Deal that much damage.

Hammer of Bogardan is like, extremely red flavored, and this one almost seems like it could be a white card. Strictly worse because no wild hair and burny fire and stupidly musculatured barbarians.

Not necessarily, Hammer only triggering in your upkeep is kinda awkward if you then draw something you'd rather have played.

Obviously having to attack to get the option to bring it back is an issue (though raid is just attacking not actually hitting), but you get so much more info when you see what you'll draw, if your opponent has any tricks during combat etc.
