I think he means it's not easy to play Exemplar on turn 1 and this guy on turn 2 in Standard.

On the one hand, it doesn't work with Toolcraft Exemplar.

On the other hand, however, this card works just as well with Nerd Ape and all but guarantees the possibility of a turn 3 Unlicensed Disintegration or Aethersphere Harvester (even if you keep a hand without the third land). The cheap mana acceleration without green is also pretty nice if we get a decent 4-drop.


I'd definitely call it weaker than the inspector... but this thing will still find a use.

Would've been a cool, flavorful one-drop. At RR it lacks the body to justify the cost.

I don't really understand why is this card double fixed red mana, or at least why it is uncommon.

But im happy this is a plane where goblins live. Perhaps they are a lot more numerous in the "Old Continent", where the invading factions come from

It's like they touched up Akki Rockspeaker to make it borderline playable.

Red getting a card that fixes mana is very unusual. Obviously a limited card though, since Wizards doesn't want allow turn 1 mana acceleration. If this was costed at one red, it'd be like a red llanowar elf. (yes, it'd be worst than llanowar elf, but it be in red)

Apparently Ixalan is in the realm of Oz. All these monkeys are missing is wings. It's the sliver and gremlin remake all over again! Yuck!
