MTG Salvation

This card is really awesome from a flavor perspective, but it's so expensive and requires a lot of charge counters. It seems like it'll be really hard to actually use. Especially in a world where Solemnity exists.

...I wouldn't count this card out altogether.

Jace's Sanctum actually had a place in a pretty decent blue prison deck not too long ago. If we can get any payoff cards that hold a candle to rise from the tides, this card might find a deck to call home.

here is where I learned about it (and it's older than I thought, coming from 2016).

Unfortunately, every single card (other than islands) in that deck will be out of standard by the time this card is available... and the deck relies on having a very specific toolkit. If the stars align in the next couple of sets, however, this might be worth coming back to...

Do you happen to have a link to that deck? Jace's Sanctum is what I thought of when I saw this card: an incredibly cool and flavorful card that is basically unusable. This one reminds me of that. It's just such a cool card, but it's so slow I don't see any realistic way to use it, in either Standard or Modern (where removal will be even more plentiful and cheap).

I think I'll cut out the effort and just pay 1 more for a Pyromancer's Goggles, but being an artifact that uses charge counters doesn't hurt when you've got things like Coretapper and such running around. You might run one of each in commander with big spells like Din of the Fireherd and Cruel Ultimatum.

When I see "instants and sorcery spells you cast cost 1 less to cast" I raise my eyebrows in alarm, but thankfully I think the 4 CMC keeps this from being problematic in any format with a storm archetype.
