So you either pay 0 for Tormod's Crypt, 1 for this, or 2 (in two installments) for Relic of Progenitus. It's nice to have options, I guess.

It's difficult to say which is best. If you're on Affinity, I think you want Tormod's Crypt as it's another 0-cmc artifact that helps turn on Mox Opal first turn. A lot of other decks may want to have the activation for free so they don't have to keep mana up for Relic, maybe want this instead. I dunno.

Draw 1 is superior to Scry 1 about 99% of the time. Setting up Miracle or something similar is that 1%.

So for me at least, Relic is better in nearly every situation. It helps that Relic isn't a everything or nothing card. You can get extra use of the first ability while waiting for a reason to blow it up.
